00:00Hi, I'm Dorina. I'm a student and activist from Sumo, Ukraine.
00:04My city is right on the border with Russia, so the sirens here never seem to stop.
00:11But despite the danger, I don't just move from the city.
00:14I study here, volunteer, organize events for youth, and so many things.
00:19We fight for our freedom and future every single day.
00:24And I want to show you how. Stay tuned.
00:28My day didn't start with the morning. It started with a 17-hour air raid alert,
00:33the night of noises and missiles attack on the city.
00:37You might ask why aren't we running to the shelters, but the truth in Sumo, this is our routine.
00:51This is our reality.
00:54We live with power shuttles that can change in a second.
00:59So usually we have no power for four hours, then it's back for two.
01:06You have to rush every single minute to charge your phone, laptop, hook, or even just wash your hair,
01:11because you never know when the next black hour will hit.
01:17I'm happy because right now I have two hours of electricity.
01:22After this it will be gone for four hours, and now it's just a race, because I'm charging two of
01:29my power banks,
01:30phone, laptop, all at once.
01:33My university remains a place of deep pain after the tragedy of April 13.
01:39At that time I was the head of student government at Sumo State University.
01:44We were in the final stages of preparing for a leadership event set for April 14.
01:49But the day before Masai struck our congress center and our campus number two.
01:55Over 30 people were killed and more than 100 were injured.
02:00Among the victims were two of our students.
02:03Just the day before I had added those two girls to our event group chat.
02:08They were supposed to be with us, but Russia killed them.
02:12I was supposed to be in that place at that moment, but I overslept.
02:19The truth is we are exhausted.
02:21Sometimes the weight of it all feels unbearable, but we will never stop fighting for our future and our freedom.
02:30So despite the constant strikes, my city is alive.
02:33Shops are open, people are working, and we continue to do great things.
02:38We learned to find joy even the shadows, cause we know the value of every second.
