00:05McGuire, has died. He was 71. The Carradine family said in a statement,
00:10it is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather,
00:15uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away. In a world that can feel so dark,
00:20Bobby was always a beacon of light to everyone around him. We are bereft at the loss of this
00:24beautiful soul and want to acknowledge Bobby's valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade
00:29battle with bipolar disorder. We hope his journey can shine a light and encourage addressing the
00:34stigma that attaches to mental illness. At this time, we ask for the privacy to grieve this
00:39unfathomable loss. With gratitude for your understanding and compassion. Robert Carradine,
00:45the son of actor John Carradine, made his movie acting debut in 1972 alongside John Wayne in The
00:51Cowboys. That early role led to additional acting gigs, including in 1973's Mean Streets and 1978's
00:59Coming Home. Carradine's other notable films include 1980's The Big Red One, 1980's The Long
01:05Riders, and 1984's Revenge of the Nerds. He went on to reprise his role from that film in multiple
01:11sequels. But to millennials, Carradine may be best known for playing Hilary Duff's father in the
01:16Disney Channel series, Lizzie McGuire. Duff paid tribute to her co-star and longtime friend on
01:21Instagram, writing,
01:22This one hurts. It's really hard to face this reality about an old friend. There was so much
01:27warmth in the McGuire family, and I always felt so cared for by my on-screen parents. I'll be
01:32forever grateful for that. I'm deeply sad to learn Bobby was suffering. My heart aches for him, his
01:38family, and everyone who loved him. Hallie Todd, who played Carradine's wife, Joe McGuire, also wrote on
01:43Instagram in part,
01:44Over the last 25 years, our families grew extremely close, celebrating birthdays, graduations,
01:51Halloweens, and Thanksgivings together. My friendship with Bobby and his family is probably
01:55my most treasured personal gift from working on Lizzie McGuire. He was my family on-screen and off.
02:01And Jake Thomas, who played Lizzie's little brother Matt, said,
02:05My heart hurts today. I was fortunate to know Bobby for most of my life,
02:08and he was one of the coolest guys you could ever meet. He also wrote in part,
02:13He was a talented actor, musician, and director. But more than anything, he was family.
