00:10particular car that i am sitting in is the diesel variant the diesel manual variant the top of the

00:15line and this car is available in petrol it's available in cng it's available in diesel it has

00:22an electric version as well but today in this video i'm going to tell you why is this diesel

00:27option i mean one of the best if you want fuel efficiency if you want uh like features and if

00:36you want a lot of space so why does the kia karen's clavis make sense um i'm i'm i'm going

00:42to be telling

00:43you that in this video so let's quickly start it and i'll just show you what you get on the

00:48outside

00:48then we will quickly see what you get on the inside and then we'll take it out for a drive

00:53how this engine performs what kind of mileage you get and what is the suspension setup and the

02:15the boot and that is how much space you get with the third row up obviously the third row can

02:22reclined even further you can adjust the boot space like this and that is why i like the karen's clavis

02:29because i mean it's a three row car you can see away it's a seven seater and the third row

02:33practically usable for adults this is the only car in the segment i think that has got enough space

02:39because the seats can be adjusted accordingly it can be moved forward and adults can actually sit

02:44over here two people can sit and you have adjustable headrests right over here that is how the boot

02:50looks like there you have i don't know some tools maybe a boot light right over here and obviously if

02:58don't need this you can just completely fold this down and you will get a lot of boot space

03:05lift it up just pull this thing it will first lock over here then you can adjust accordingly

03:15and bootlead is not that heavy that's your taillight section let's quickly move on to the inside this is

03:23the second row now in the second row you have two adjustable headrests that is the armrest it

03:29has missing cup holders but over here what they have given they have given this tray where you have

03:34one cup holder right over here that you can place like a laptop or your tablet some storage space here

03:39brushed aluminium door handles window shades that are manual and you have ambient light as well now this

03:46is the knob for the ac for the third row you have one over here and for the third row

03:52as well

03:53second and third row ac blower can be controlled from here apart from that you have two type c

03:58charging sockets that is your air purifier that is inbuilt into the seat it has a filter you have

04:04to change it periodically and yeah that's about it that is how the second row looks like it can

04:11tumble down like this and that's an easy tumble and you have access i think same goes for that side

04:19as well and just it's easy it's a one touch tumble and then after that you can adjust it according

04:26to

04:27where you want to recline it and then two people are going deploy this armrest

05:12this camera that actually records on the inside you have a lens right over here and then there's a

05:16lens at the back right over here so you can record what's going on on the inside or the rear

05:23will actually serve as both the rear view and the dash cam as well door pockets pretty nice and i

05:33very decent amount of storage storage over here storage over here ambient light all around you have

05:38ambient light running somewhere here as well on the door

05:43steering wheel so over here so that's the wireless charger and over here you get this park i mean the

05:51sensor button this is for your camera that's your 360 view now if you see the setup over here this

05:58currently showing the radio setup and the media option but if you press this button this thing turns

06:04into the aircon where you can adjust it's a single zone climate control it's an automatic climate control

06:11and you can adjust it from here that's to go to the media this is to go to the aircon

06:16touchscreen right

06:18over here very good touchscreen but again the anode auto and apple carplay is wired i have no idea why

06:24um 12 volt charging socket usb type a usb type c your hill hold is right over here and if

06:32you see this is

06:33cluster now let us quickly check the figures right over here so we have driven around 100 and almost

06:42190 189.3 so since refueling and these kilometers have been driven within the city we have not touched

06:50the highway and you can see that it is giving us 14.4 kilometers to a liter that within the

06:56city and

06:57right now the car was idling actually it was close to 15 kilometers to a liter that is within the

07:02city

07:03of 190 kilometers of driving so on the highway i am sure that this thing will give 20 plus if

07:10you drive

07:11it in a very very good condition now this is your cruise control you don't get adas that is again

07:17to control the infotainment system and your music and well that's about it auto dimming rvm right over

07:22here passenger gets a mirror but the driver does not and yeah led lights on the inside as well

07:31some storage space right over here you can remove this as well if you don't want it and you have

07:37storage space over here now this is kind of cool you can see where it has this knob so this

07:42knob

07:43gets some air from the aircon and if you have something over here it will remain cool it'll not

07:48chill or i mean it'll not just um a freeze but it'll stay cool and as i mentioned wireless charger

07:56charging options a six-speed manual gearbox and yep now let's quickly drive this and tell you how it

08:02is to drive on the road i've told you the mileage within the city but i'll tell you what kind

08:06of

08:06mileage you can get what kind of tank size does it has and how many kilometers on a full tank

08:11it can

08:12go if you're doing highway mileage so let's quickly start driving so okay let's quickly buckle up

08:18the car is already on let's put first gear and let's roll now so as you can see clutch is

08:26really

08:27light no acceleration input given first gear it's doing let's set this at that speed

08:33you're doing eight kilometers an hour second gear without acceleration just leaving the clutch

08:40is doing 16 let's go to the third

08:45why i'm doing this i'll tell you so on third gear we have touched almost 27 kilometers

08:51per hour and fourth gear it is telling us to shift down to third but it is catching speed gradually

09:00and we have crossed the 35 kilometer mark and then you have fifth and sixth and it can go on

09:09so why am i doing this is because in stop and go traffic you really don't need to use the

09:14accelerator

09:15you can just move on the clutch light clutch uh for a diesel car and if you talk about the

09:21engine

09:21it's a 1.5 liter turbo diesel engine this produces around 114 bhp of power and 250 nm of peak

09:29torque

09:29well this amount of torque i mean the power figures to some people can be a little low but the

09:35torque

09:35figures are really nice 250 nm is not a bad figure at all i mean once the torque really kicks

09:42in if you

09:43are driving it at a higher gear at lower speeds at lower rpms obviously you will feel that this thing

09:48will not i mean it's it's not meant for going fast but as soon as the rpms build in and

09:56the boost

09:56kicks in like right now i'm at fourth gear and i'm just so post 2000 rpm is now it's picking

10:03up and

10:04yeah so power kicks in post 2000 rpm but if you have to overtake you can just quickly downshift and

10:14you will overtake easily you don't you will not have a problem but if you are keeping a light

10:19foot at higher gear you will think that this car does not have power but it has decent amount of

10:23power for this actually this size of a vehicle a seven seater i mean i think the power is pretty

10:30adequate for at least city and highway use both now as you all saw now as you all saw that

10:36within the

10:37city we were getting about uh almost 14 and a half to 15 kilometers to a liter but on the

10:45highway let

10:46me tell you that this thing if for example you put cruise control you've said 200 maybe 90 or 100

10:55whatever the speed limit is so at 100 will be cruising at around just below 2000 rpm and if you

11:01go to 120

11:02which is the maximum speed limit over here right now on the highway so that time it cruises around

11:072500 rpm but if you set the 100 at cruise control it will give you 20 plus kilometers to a

11:13liter for

11:14sure and with a 45 liter fuel tank that is almost more than 800 kilometers so trust me it can

11:21go a

11:21little more than 800 kilometers on a full tank on the highway if you are using cruise control and driving

11:28it properly well obviously it depends on how much load are you taking in the car well if you are

11:32taking a lot of people in the car then i think that will be a problem because the more the

11:36load

11:36the less the average will be because there is more weight in the car so i think if you are

11:42a couple of

11:43people traveling with luggage this thing on the highway will absolutely just smash it as far as fuel

11:50economy goes so i've been driving around in this car for quite some time now and i must say that

11:55this is this is a fun car to drive you have a decent sound system you have i mean android

12:01or

12:01apple car play i don't know why can't they give like a wireless system but it is wired it is

12:06good

12:06i mean the touchscreen is good um it's got decent features it looks good as well and if we talk

12:12about

12:12the suspension the suspension uh tuning has been done very very nicely on the karen's travels because

12:19earlier the karen's i mean there was a little roughness in the suspension so when you used to ride it

12:24you used to feel like it's like i mean you could get that thud sound whenever it hits a rumbler

12:29or

12:29like a speed breaker but in this it has dampened out a lot and let me tell you one thing

12:34that the

12:35nvh levels have also been dramatically increased i mean i'm not cut out from the outside world but

12:40there is very less noise coming in from the diesel engine obviously at higher rpm you will get that

12:45clutter but uh i mean it is pretty contained i would say and yes it's a fantastic car to drive

12:52around trust me guys who are actually looking for a seven seater um you should definitely go check

12:58out the karen's clavis especially the diesel variant um as i mentioned they have petrol they

13:02have cng they have diesel they have electric but the diesel actually makes sense because i mean

13:09just just look at the features look at the fuel economy the power figures i mean if you're seven

13:14people also it has more than enough torque it'll just pull you uphill as well like not like a

13:18complete uphill but yeah that's a very decent uphill i'm not saying this has got like uh this

13:24hill descent control so you'll go off-roading with this car no you'll not go off-roading with this car

13:28but overall it's a very good car to drive around i would i would say suspension is nice it's soft

13:33it absorbs all the bumps there is body roll obviously because uh it's on the softer side but

13:39uh it is a good i mean it's a it's a good setup trust me so yes guys this was

13:45the karen's clavis

13:48and if we talk about the pricing so this starts around 13.10 lakh ex-showroom and goes all the

13:55way up to the 25 uh almost sorry uh 24 uh 24 and a half lakh rupee mark uh that's

14:01the ex-showroom price

14:02pretty good car i must say for its size and especially it can seat two adults in the third

14:09row which is a really plus point for people especially who are traveling in big groups

14:14and after the third row you have space to keep your luggage i'm not saying all of you all will

14:18be able to keep your luggage but yeah there are at least four to five cabin bags can easily

14:23like line up and stack up on top of each other so i think that will sort out your problem
