00:00Bernard and Romo rediscovered their portraits taken more than 40 years ago.
00:05In a packed auditorium during the premiere screening of the documentary
00:08Maurice Peluche, Memory and Images, the emotion is palpable.
00:13It's an emotional moment for us, because we were part of this film.
00:20Today when I see this again, I first want to congratulate Emmanuel,
00:24who has brought Maurice Peluche out of obscurity and take us back to our childhood.
00:28So there's a double impact, and I'm very moved.
00:39The film traces the journey of one of the rare portrait photographers of the 1970s,
00:44who preserved his negatives to this day.
00:47In those days, a photographer couldn't rely on only studio income.
00:51During the day you took photos in the studio, and when you closed it,
00:54you knew the nightlife in the bars started around 10pm, so you went to the bars.
01:02Alongside Peluche and French director Emmanuel Béthierry,
01:05the camera travels through homes, iconic locations and historic neighbourhoods,
01:09searching for the photographer's former clients.
01:13I didn't choose Peluche, Peluche chose me.
01:15We were put in contact, and he wanted to share his photographic work with me,
01:19and asked me to showcase it.
01:27In searching for the people photographed by Peluche, we examined the negatives,
01:32looking for points of contact to reconnect them.
01:34And that point of contact was FOFO, where everything was centred.
01:41Through this screening, an entire social and cultural memory resurfaces,
01:47reminding us how images can become a true heritage.
01:51It was a wonderful discovery to see the past captured in images,
01:57especially since we weren't even alive at that time.
01:59I didn't even know I'd be born.
02:05Through this screening, an entire social and cultural memory comes back to life,
02:09showing how photography can become part of a shared heritage.
