00:00Filipinos who need paid work are scattered all over the nation and not limited mostly to job seekers in the
00:07mega city.
00:08Hence, the Department of Public Works and Highways went on the road today to hold a first-ever job fair
00:13on campus in Batangas State U.
00:16I have the details drawn for this report, gathered by our Bernard Ferrer.
00:23JV lined up early at the DPWH campus job fair at Batangas State University, known as the National Engineering University.
00:31This was the first-ever job fair of the Department of Public Works and Highways, or DPWH, held outside of
00:38Metro Manila.
00:39JV graduated in 2024 with a degree in civil engineering from Batangas State University.
00:45Bringing with him his work experience, JV hopes to secure a position at DPWH.
00:50Current po ngayon is Project in Charge po. Ako sa isang land development project.
00:55That's why po I have experience po of constructing roads po and drainage din po and water lines po.
01:02Meanwhile, KF, who is still a graduating civil engineering student, also lined up at the DPWH campus job fair.
01:09He wanted to learn about the requirements and the process needed to secure employment in the future.
01:15KF also inquired about the DPWH hiring process, even though he has yet to graduate.
01:20Ngayon po kasi gusto ko lang po makatry ng experience, pero mas maganda rin po yung opportunity na parang ibibigay
01:29po ng DPWH.
01:31DPWH is expediting its hiring process to fill more than 2,000 job vacancies in the department.
01:37Competitive actually sa entry level at yung mga lower management level. Competitive ang DPWH.
01:45Siyempre, pagka higher level na, mas mataas sa private sector.
01:50Pero for fresh graduate, new board passer, very competitive.
01:55The first batch of successful applicants is expected to begin work in March.
02:00The department will particularly focus on critical infrastructure projects such as bridges.
02:06Meanwhile, Secretary Vince Dizon inspected the Bridge of Promise in Barangay Kumintang Ibaba, Barangay Gulod, Labak.
02:14Originally intended as a temporary structure, the bridge later became permanent.
02:18The bridge will be rehabilitated to accommodate additional vehicles.
02:22Umiikot pa ng one to one and a half hours yung heavy trucks, imbes na dumaan dito.
02:28So, for 2027, nag-request na tayo ng 300 million, isasama natin ito, para magawa na ng pangmatagalan.
02:36It is also expected to be widened with additional lanes to increase its capacity.
