00:00The Philippine National Police, or PNP, has ordered its units nationwide to enhance coordination with local government officials.

00:07This to strengthen training programs for barangay tanods or barangay security officers.

00:13PNP Chief General Jose Melencio Nartates Jr. highlighted the crucial role of barangay tanods,

00:19calling them the community's first line of response, not only for peace and order, but also for disaster and emergency

00:27situations.

00:27The enhanced training aims to cover basic safety, proper procedures for dealing with law offenders,

00:35basic intelligence gathering, and essential disaster and life-saving responses.

00:41The goal is to strengthen their capability on anti-crime measures and the preservation of a crime scene.
