🎙️ Welcome to Season 4 of Tangelic Talks. This season, we’re asking bigger — and harder — questions: Climate Finance. AI. Power. Who controls the future?
In this Season 4 premiere, co-hosts Victoria Cornelio and Andres Tamez introduce the central theme of the season: Climate Finance, Technology, and Power — and how they shape the energy transition.
Where is the capital for clean energy really coming from? Who decides where the money flows? Is AI accelerating climate solutions — or deepening inequality? And most importantly: who benefits, and who gets left out?
Season 4 dives into the intersection of climate finance, AI, ESG frameworks, development finance, corporate governance, and clean energy systems — always through a human lens.
Because at Tangelic Talks, we don’t just talk about systems. We talk about people.
In This Episode, We Cover:
💰 What “climate finance” actually means — public funding, private capital, ESG & grants
🤖 How AI and climate tech are reshaping the transition
⚖️ Why finance and technology are never neutral — they reflect power and priorities
🏛️ Who controls capital flows — and why institutions matter
📊 Corporate climate metrics vs. real-world human outcomes
👥 How inequality can widen — or shrink — depending on investment decisions
🌱 What meaningful climate success looks like on the ground
🧠Why questioning jargon-heavy systems is essential
🔍 The role of skepticism, transparency & public trust
🌎 Keeping Season 4 human — not overly technical
đź“© How listeners can challenge, question, and shape the conversation
About Season 4: Season 4 explores how climate solutions are funded, scaled, and governed. From finance strategists to tech leaders, HR professionals, journalists, and community advocates — we’re bringing diverse perspectives to unpack how money and innovation shape justice in the climate transition.
We won’t have all the answers.
But we will ask better questions — together.

00:00You know, if you have something you want to tell us, let us know, because we don't know everything.
00:06We're here to learn with you and sort of present what we think is important, but we might be off
00:11base.
00:12Who knows?
00:13And I think we can play our part in a instrumental way if the powers that be decide that we
00:23are worthy of being a part of the solution.
00:26And welcome to season four.
00:30I am a warm and engaging micro-native for your podcast and set a great tell me as a suggestion
00:35that combines an upbeat and abiding spirit without any micro-music.
00:39Welcome to Tangelic Talks, your go-to podcast from Tangelic, where we dive into the vibrant world of clean energy,
00:46development, sustainability, and climate change in Africa.
00:49We bring you inspiring stories, insightful discussions, and groundbreaking innovations from the continent-making waves in the global community.
00:57Tune in and join the conversation toward a brighter, greener future.
01:01Let's get started.
01:05Welcome to Tangelic Talks, a podcast at the intersection of energy, equity, and empowerment with your co-hosts, Victoria Cornelio
01:12and Andres Tremes.
01:13And welcome to season four.
01:16Wow, four seasons.
01:18That's crazy.
01:20And this season, like every season, is going to be very interesting, but we've got a theme this time around,
01:25and we're focused on overlapping crises.
01:28There's a lot going on.
01:29There's the acceleration of tech.
01:31There's big money shaping climate futures.
01:34Finance and technology tend to be something that we haven't really touched on directly, but that keeps coming up.
01:41So we wanted to take this season to fully explore it, you know, with all the changes that we have
01:47and how focused we are on empowerment, especially.
01:51Technology and finance can be great ways of empowering people, but also sidelining communities, and that's something that we're exploring
01:57this season.
01:58So we're focused on asking the hard questions about power, where is the capital for the transition, what technology is
02:06out there to solve it, and how both shape climate solutions on the ground.
02:13Andres, are you excited?
02:16Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
02:17I'm very, very excited.
02:19Okay, every season is themed, and I think this one's going to be like a successor in a weird way,
02:24where we're going to be the ones learning a lot, because we like to talk about the things that we
02:31care about and the things that are our mission, basically, right?
02:35Which is to help people, which is to help the planet, right?
02:39Which is to create solutions, and this season's going to be focused on how those solutions get made in the
02:48pre, right?
02:49Like, where does the money come from, right?
02:52And why do they, why does it fly or fall, right?
02:57Why does it succeed or fail?
02:59I'm really excited, because I think it is just, yeah, it's where things start, you know?
03:05So, everybody, I think, we've had on will mention something about funds being needed to carry something out.
03:12We're talking about how there's reduced capacity to do stuff, and money tends to unlock that a lot of times.
03:20And a lot of the climate solutions that we need are, well, need to be funded, are being funded, and
03:27we want to be very excited about them, but also have this other idea of tech.
03:31Tech was the big thing that has been funded in the last decades, and now we're bringing that in to
03:38also fund solutions for the climate crisis.
03:41So, that's interesting.
03:42I find that really interesting, how investment is flowing in a similar way as it used to, but now with
03:47different purposes, right?
03:49It's not solely innovation.
03:52It's also like, how is this innovation going to save us from X, Y, and Z effect of the climate
03:57crisis?
03:58And the resource crisis.
04:00Yes.
04:01And every crisis.
04:02It's huge.
04:03Guys, we're in crisis.
04:04And every, all the crisis.
04:06All the crises.
04:08And in this, again, we don't want to make it a jargon-heavy technical season.
04:13We're still Tangelic Talks, and it's still very human.
04:16So, the people that we're talking to are still very human.
04:18But a couple terms for us to keep in mind.
04:20When we talk about finance in this season, and climate finance specifically, we're talking about capital, investment, ESGs, which is
04:29environment, social governance, and those frameworks that have kind of replaced corporate social responsibility or gone a step further to
04:37CSR in that sense.
04:39We're also talking about development, finance, and corporate decision-making.
04:43Is the money coming from private?
04:45Is it publicly funded?
04:46Is it grants?
04:47Is it trusts?
04:48How is money flowing?
04:49And where are these pods coming from?
04:52And to do what?
04:53When we talk about technology, we're talking about AI, clean energy systems, data, infrastructure, innovation.
05:00So, that keeps coming up.
05:01But it's how these two cannot be separated because justice sits right at the center of these two.
05:08And, again, who has access to the funds?
05:11Who has access to the technology?
05:14And finance and technology aren't neutral.
05:17So, they encode a lot of values, priorities, and power.
05:20And who controls it and who gets it is a really important question of this season.
05:25Would you agree?
05:26Oh, yeah.
05:28I feel like the way the money flows shows you the values of...
05:33Yeah, put your money where your mouth is and all that.
05:36Yeah, exactly.
05:38And so, a lot of the questions that we want to be answering during this season is, like, well, who
05:45decides where the money goes?
05:47Which is an incredibly difficult question to answer.
05:54Because money flows from person to person to person to person to person to person to company to company to
05:58company.
06:00And a lot of the times, like, it's supposed to be for this and it just gets lost in bureaucracy,
06:04right?
06:06So, we also want to know how technology is going to affect us, as you've mentioned earlier.
06:11Like, is it going to accelerate these, like, climate solutions, right?
06:21Or is it going to be detrimental?
06:25What is it going to do on the human front, right?
06:29Is it going to cause people to lose their jobs?
06:32Is it going to make more jobs?
06:35Is it going to reduce or increase in quality?
06:42And what does success look like on a practical level, on a ground level, in a way that actually affects
06:50people, right?
06:51Because we talk about, like, a lot of people will talk about, like, their metrics, right?
06:56A lot of companies will be like, we have, we reached these climate metrics.
06:59And it's like, okay, but what are their real world impact?
07:03And another thing is, what do you have to, what do we have to do with it, right?
07:08As normal people, you know, how do we come into this equation?
07:11Which I think is a hard question to answer.
07:16And people are solving that question, right?
07:19And I think we can play our part in an instrumental way if the powers that be decide that we
07:29are worthy of being a part of the solution.
07:33Or we're just, don't talk to us.
07:38We'll solve the problem.
07:40And how?
07:40How will they?
07:42Yeah.
07:44Yeah, how will they?
07:45According to them, they're solving everything.
07:48Well, wouldn't it be nice if we could just be ignorant and just like, yeah, you guys do it.
07:53We trust you.
07:54Do it.
07:55Yeah.
07:56Yeah.
07:57We want to, I trust them so much.
07:59You don't understand.
08:00We don't live in that kind of world, which is why we need to have these.
08:04I, for one, trust the powers that be.
08:07No rest assured, actually.
08:12And this is why we have to ask these big questions.
08:15Because we have to build public trust.
08:18But we also need to be inquisitive.
08:21Yeah.
08:22It's going to be done.
08:23But we don't have the answers.
08:24So like Andrea said, we're learning with you.
08:27And our wonderful guests for this season.
08:30I'm really, really excited.
08:31We have, I think it's one of our most diverse seasons in terms of guests.
08:36We have people from everywhere.
08:39We have HR professionals, finance strategists who don't worry.
08:43They don't talk like robots.
08:44We have tech experts who also don't talk like robots, which I think are unicorns in the space,
08:50to be honest.
08:51We have journalists.
08:52We have people, people, community-based people.
08:56And I'm so excited.
08:59What are you looking forward to, to learn with them?
09:02Well, I'm looking forward to see if it's all just not a Jedi mind trick.
09:06If all of this isn't just like, it's just, just, just talking, talking, talking, talking, talking.
09:14In order to sort of appease, like, companies talking to appease themselves.
09:18People talking to feel better about themselves.
09:21But, like, actually just going out for their own interests while being like, I'm saving everything.
09:26Or, this will be so great for everyone.
09:28Right?
09:30Which, by everyone, they mean me.
09:34Me and mine.
09:35So, that's, that's, that's what I'm excited.
09:37Exactly.
09:38Me and mine.
09:39And then, that's, or meet me and my fellow CEOs.
09:41Not even me and mine.
09:45So, that's what I'm excited about this season.
09:47Just talking to people, seeing exactly, like, what their goals are.
09:53Like, are they actually as passionate about climate as they say they are.
09:58Right?
09:58And, I, I feel like it's, there's, there's a little bit of fear that it might be too technical.
10:05But, at the same time, I think it'll, I think, one of the, one of the strengths we have is
10:12because we have direct access to these people, we can sort of see their human side.
10:16Yeah, and that's the goal with a season like this one, right?
10:20Again, the terms are very jargon-heavy.
10:22The climate sector is very jargon-heavy, if you're familiar with it.
10:25And, it's very in-group focused.
10:27I think that's true of most corners of the internet, right?
10:31You know what slang to use and what jargon to use and what things to say.
10:34I think in this season, our guests, from the ones that we've talked to already, are, are very human.
10:41You know, they're explaining things in a way that makes sense, not necessarily because they're right or wrong, but just
10:47because I understand the logic and how you got to that point.
10:50And, I'm excited to see if you guys follow the logic as well, so do let us know.
10:54I really like how excited some of, some of the guests seem to, to just really comment and share their
10:59perspective and be like, hey, actually, actually you're wrong.
11:04Actually, I'm wrong to be so skeptical, or actually, you know, I think that's, that's, that's, that's a, that's a,
11:11that's a good, that's a good positive.
11:13I agree.
11:13I agree.
11:14I think it's also very challenging conversation for me personally, because it's, I've been very stuck on my beliefs on
11:24climate finance mechanisms and AI and things like that.
11:27And so it's been very challenging, you know, I've been exerting a lot of active listening, which is something we
11:33were taught last season to do more of.
11:35And I think that's prepped me to be able to have some of the conversations we're having this season.
11:40Right, right.
11:41Well, the climate, the climate finance thing, I think is one of those things that we both sort of took.
11:46Yeah.
11:47And we're like, okay, fine.
11:49It's real.
11:50Exactly.
11:52And it really.
11:53Last season.
11:54And I think this season's going to, hopefully will be a continuation of that.
11:58And that's what I hope listeners take away as well.
12:01You know, you might already know what you think of something.
12:04So if you want to just hate watch it, even, you might catch a couple nuggets that you're like, oh,
12:10right, I didn't think of that.
12:11Or I wasn't thinking of that.
12:13And I would like these conversations to not necessarily shift your thinking, but if it reinforces what you think, that
12:20your argument is stronger for why you think what you think.
12:22And if you're a bit lost on how to defend your position, then it might be something that you want
12:28to explore further, which is what the blogs are for.
12:30You know, a lot of the questions and answers that we do on the blogs are technical, are resource focused,
12:38have more of an explanation, more in-depth explanation than just the chats that you see on the regular episodes.
12:45So if you ever have more questions after watching an episode, go check out TangelicLive.org slash TangelicTalks.
12:52And you'll find all the blogs there.
12:54And you can deep dive a bit more and get to know our guests as well.
12:57Their bios are there, their websites.
12:59If there's anyone that you really vibed with, go follow them over there.
13:03Yeah.
13:03And there are people, I think this season, there are going to be people that we really vibe with.
13:07I think it's going to be really, really fun.
13:10There are so many interesting people.
13:13I love how passionate everyone is.
13:16Yeah.
13:16It's very fun.
13:17Because again, I was surprised when we were prepping for this season how human it's actually felt.
13:23Because again, it's such a dense topic.
13:26Climate, finance, finance, you know.
13:29But everyone's been so human and candid.
13:33And it's been awesome.
13:34Yeah.
13:35Yeah.
13:36It's almost scary.
13:37Are we getting cold?
13:40Let us know.
13:41Yeah, we're getting here, we're getting here.
13:43If you notice anything, let us know.
13:47That's right.
13:48It's like, are they paid actors?
13:50Turn this TV off.
13:52Are we paid actors?
13:54Yeah.
13:57Like, one of the cool things is that, like, if something doesn't seem right to us, we can push back,
14:02right?
14:02Then we can get an example.
14:05And people have been really receptive to that.
14:07And that's awesome.
14:07It's amazing.
14:08No, it's a really cool season.
14:10We're not going to have all the answers by the end of it.
14:13But it's all about asking questions together.
14:16So if you have questions or you have topics that you feel we could look into that we've missed, please
14:22do let us know.
14:23You can leave it in the comments wherever you're listening to this.
14:26You can send us an email at podcast at TangelicLife.org.
14:29And if you are someone that wants to come on and chat to us on the pod, also reach out.
14:35Check us out at TangelicLife.org slash Tangelic Talks and submit yourself to come on the podcast.
14:41If you have a topic that you feel we're missing out or something that we fully do not understand, because
14:46there is a lot that we do not understand, do let us know.
14:50We're always happy to have chats.
14:52Yeah, like I also feel like if there's anything you feel like was, you know, sometimes things get lost in
14:59the gaps in the topics of episodes.
15:01Or we just don't have enough time to go through all the back and forth, something that we didn't push
15:06back on or something that we didn't seem to understand.
15:08You can just, even if you can't come on, like don't want to come on, you can leave that there
15:14as a comment, right?
15:15And we'll see if we can get to that and really try to complete our knowledge.
15:20Exactly, yeah.
15:20And this season we have quite a lot of guests who've reached out to us to come on, which is
15:25really exciting.
15:26I think that's a personal win for us.
15:29Yes, but also a testament to what we're saying.
15:32You know, if you have something you want to tell us, let us know.
15:37Because we don't know everything.
15:39We're here to learn with you and sort of present what we think is important.
15:43But we might be off base.
15:44Who knows?
15:47Well, I know everything.
15:48Well, yes.
15:49Okay, I'm just, I'm just, you know, I'm role playing.
15:53I'm giving people a chance to get on my level.
15:56Be humble.
15:56Am I the only one getting told?
15:58I'm just kidding.
15:59I'm just kidding.
16:02Be humble.
16:04Stay down.
16:07I'm sorry.
16:09But I'm very excited for season four.
16:12Oh my gosh.
16:13I think we'll be running for about, oof, a while.
16:19A while.
16:20At least three months of season four.
16:23So stay tuned.
16:25It's going to be another heavy season.
16:26I know, I know.
16:28If I do say so myself.
16:32And I do.
16:33So we'll catch you guys on our first episode coming next week.
16:38Make sure to follow us on Tangelic Talks on Instagram as well.
16:42Where if you're more about short content or you just want to share the pod with someone, our Instagram is
16:47a good way to do that.
16:49And, again, submit any questions, any topics, anything like that.
16:54Or if you just want to tell us that we look nice.
16:56That's also lovely.
16:58We know, but we like to hear it.
17:00Even though I want to mention my haircut.
17:03Fresh look for season four.
17:04Or how, and how, how, how Victoria has a fresh look.
17:09I know, right?
17:10Looks fresh.
17:11Even though I always have my black shirt.
17:13But Vic, Vic does.
17:15Consistency, you know.
17:17Keep it fresh.
17:20That's right.
17:21Any last words?
17:23No.
17:23I think it's just, I'm excited.
17:25And I hope people resonate with that excitement.
17:28Because this is going to be a long season with a lot of new stuff.
17:35A lot of, and a lot of very interesting things.
17:37Yeah, I agree.
17:38Yeah.
17:38So we'll catch you guys on the next one.
17:42Stay tuned.
17:43And stay curious.
17:45Bye.
17:46Godspeed.
17:50Godspeed.
17:53Let's talk power.
17:55Let's talk change.
17:56For rural lights to brighter days.
18:00Equity rising.
18:01Voices strong.
18:03We're building tomorrow where we all belong.
18:07Tangela talks energy.
18:09Equity pride.
18:10Empowering the world.
18:12Side by side.
18:13A spark becomes a fire.
18:15A vision that's true.
18:17Together we rise.
18:18It starts with you.
18:21Never mind.
18:23You go.
18:25It starts with you.
18:26And you go.
18:26It starts with you.
18:27Let's talk talk.
