00:00Right back at it. Having fun on a Friday. It might not be your typical football Friday where Joe and
00:04I are telling you about some of these bum teams playing on Saturdays or Sundays or where you should be
00:08putting your money or attention. But the NFL still rules the world, man. Every single day that goes by, we
00:13get new and improved information. Like, well, the Chicago Bears actually leaving Chicago. Not only that, leaving their home state
00:19to go to Indiana. That could be a possibility. But we care about things, Joe, that are going to happen
00:24on the field next year.
00:25And the one thing that you do know is when you are a good football team and you win a
00:29championship here, you are going to get raided here and you might lose your offensive, defensive coordinators or your better
00:35players because they think they're worth more money.
00:36But here's Mike McDonald on a video talking about his offensive coordinator, new offensive coordinators, lack of maybe experience.
00:42Calling background. How do you kind of evaluate that aspect of a decision like this?
00:49Going into it, I do think it's a bit overrated.
00:53Somebody at some point, all play callers have to be first-time play callers at some point.
00:58You could tell how, like, Brian thinks about the game.
01:02I mean, look, you're going to have to grow in any new role.
01:05But we have a lot of great people around here and a lot of great opportunities for him to get
01:10ready to go.
01:10And I'm really confident he's going to be off and running sooner than later.
01:16So, yeah, I'm excited about it.
01:18It's going to be a fun process to build this thing.
01:22It looks like a dad and his kid, meaning like McDonald's, like the kid there.
01:25And the dad just came to the table here.
01:26That dude towers.
01:27How's he going to tell him how to run his offense?
01:29He's going to get shoved in a locker, Joe.
01:31Yeah.
01:32Well, I mean, listen, welcome to having success in the NFL, Donnie, right?
01:37He's not the first coach that's had to go through this.
01:39And, you know, now what determines on whether or not, you know, what your legacy is going to be here
01:46is are you a one and done kind of head coach where it all came together?
01:49Or are you going to have multiple opportunities to win multiple and it doesn't matter who the coordinators are?
01:56So it's a slippery slope.
01:58That's for sure.
01:58Or just ask your guy in Philadelphia about how much fun it is turning over coordinators every other year.
02:05Exactly.
02:05And the coach doesn't like it.
02:06And certainly the quarterback, hey, I got to change my terminology.
02:09I just want a Super Bowl.
02:10You adapt to me.
02:11Nope.
02:11Probably going to change that terminology and away you go.
02:14Terminology is the key point we're going to bring up next year.
02:17The Chicago Bears.
02:19Do they turn into the Indiana Bears?
02:21But here's what was my favorite part about this, too, is like, I understand how, you know, legalities work and
02:26you own a certain area, which is right.
02:27But wouldn't it be funny if it's like, hey, Chicago Bears moved to Indiana and then a rich billionaire goes
02:31like, hey, can I move into the Chicago market and have my own Chicago football team since you vacated that
02:36area?
02:36We know how it works, but it'll be interesting to see if this sticks.
02:40Word is that Indiana really wants the Chicago Bears and will bend over backwards.
02:44But this isn't done here at this point.
02:46When it's all like when it's done, Joe, I think the Bears are still going to be in Chicago with
02:51the ultimate sweetheart deal.
02:53Like, my goodness, taxpayers, you pay for everything.
02:57Yeah, yeah, it is.
02:58I mean, listen, and the Bears have been looking for all sorts of, you know, government guarantees for the infrastructure
03:06on the side, the roads.
03:08Yeah, I mean, listen, the Bears are basically they know their value.
03:12Right, Donnie?
03:13They know their worth.
03:14They know what they mean to the state.
03:16And listen, it's, you know, you're probably $800 to $1 billion in public funding to do it the right way
03:24these days.
03:26You know, that means they're going to have to figure out where's that money coming from, because it's likely not
03:32covering from the governor's pocket or the mayor's pocket, which means it's coming from the fans and the citizens' pockets.
03:40So we'll see how that goes over.
03:42Yeah, well, let's put it into the scape, Joe, that people will be able to understand what's happening, Joe.
03:46Let's just call it South Florida.
03:48You got Miami-Dade County, got Palm Beach County.
03:50You put your house for sale up in Palm Beach County.
03:52And Palm Beach County goes, like, we really don't want you to leave the county.
03:56Like, we'll pay for half of your new house here and pay all your legal fees.
04:00And if your kids want to stay in state, we'll pay for them as well as you're an institution.
04:03And then Miami-Dade County goes, like, we'll pay for your entire house to move here.
04:08We won't charge you with it.
04:09That's what's going on right now.
04:11Isn't it fun to be rich?
04:12Like, imagine you shopping for a house, Joe, and the counties are fighting over you, telling you, like, no, no,
04:16no, we'll pay for your house if you move in.
04:19Well, that's basically what Indiana is saying right now.
04:23Indiana is just the, you know, the senators and the House Speaker.
04:28They are jumping up and down at the thought and celebrating the potential of having a second NFL team in
04:35their state.
04:36Meanwhile, Illinois is like, well, I don't know if we can afford to keep you.
04:40And Indiana's like, no problem.
04:42We've got you covered.
04:44Come on over.
04:44We'll make sure you get it done right.
04:47Dead cap money in the NFL, just about every team has here.
04:50The Buffalo Bills, like, yo, $30 million towards our cap hit to guys that are going to free agency here.
04:56Milano, Bosa, McGovern, Jones, and Espinosa.
04:59Is that Espinosa?
04:59Yeah, A.J.
05:00Epinesa.
05:01Espinosa.
05:02Going in there.
05:03I'm going to call them Espinosa.
05:04It sounds a little bit better than Epinesa.
05:05But there you go.
05:06Bills paying the ticket for guys that might not be there.
05:09But every NFL team goes through that, Joe.
05:11Well, yeah, exactly.
05:12But, yeah, they had a lot of question marks moving forward here with the Bills this season.
05:19So, you know, they might lose a handful of those guys.
05:22That might be for the better.
05:24But the big question is, I don't know, is McDermott really the reason they couldn't get over the hump?
05:29We're about to find out.
05:32Dov, Clyman here with a tweet yesterday.
05:34How about this?
05:34The Teddy Bridgewater Act here allows high school coaches to pay up to $15K of their own funds to support
05:39student-athletes.
05:39Teddy Bridgewater got in a little bit of trouble here trying to pay for Uber rides, which, on the grand
05:44scheme of things, people seem to be like, that's the stupidest rule I've ever heard of.
05:47Understand this.
05:48The rules are in place so the kids and also the schools can't exploit things.
05:52Like, that's a billionaire decides to fund the high school and pays for all these kids, dodge chargers to go
05:57there and all their meals and stuff.
05:59This is put it out.
06:00It's a good Samaritan rule, which it's nice that it has a cap here.
06:02You can help the kids out.
06:04But people look at this.
06:05It's like, that's dumb.
06:06It's not dumb, because exploitation would come right behind it if they didn't have these rules.
06:09It's nice they found common ground that can help everybody, Joe.
06:13That's correct.
06:14And, you know, Teddy Bridgewater had to be the guy to enact a little change, so be it.
06:19I don't think there was anything nefarious going on.
06:22No, no.
06:22But the rules were the rules.
06:24But at the same time, now, if everyone could realize that this was kind of stupid to begin with, so
06:29let's just make sure that it doesn't get out of hand.
06:32Now, what's going on here in Buffalo at this point?
06:35Now, understand this, Joe.
06:36If you build a few billion-dollar stadium here, and it's under construction, I can certainly guarantee you that you
06:42don't just have a ring alarm, like, on the front door, and you hope it catches everything.
06:48There has to be cameras everywhere at this site, but yet they've been vandalized for $150,000 in damages, halting
06:55work until Friday.
06:56A $100,000 reward is offered as the investigations begin.
06:59We don't have cameras?
07:01What are we doing?
07:02Well, the cameras froze, Donnie, because it's pretty much eight below there, I think, every day now.
07:10And they might not have brushed all the snow off the cameras.
07:13That could be a problem, too.
07:15Or this could just be a union thing where they are sabotaging their own work site in order to be
07:22able to extend it out a little bit, and that would only mean more money.
07:27As they used to say, five rocked the cables, a lot of money in that.
07:31You give the little wink over there, and away you go, they start to disappear.
07:33But I got one name you might want to look out for, and it rhymes with Sean McDermott.
07:38Could it be, Joe?
07:38Sean McDermott, damaging the new stadium here, got feeling out of town.
07:41He's like, you know what?
07:42If I can't play their coach there, neither can you, Joe.
07:44How about that?
07:46Yeah, except McDermott is in the Bahamas on a beach and will not be going back to eight below anytime
07:53soon here for the next year or so.
07:56I think he's deserved to thaw out a little bit here over the next year.
08:00A lot of sunscreen on that head for you, Sean.
08:02Don't get burned up down there in the Bahamas at this point.
08:04You want another bald head guy?
08:06This guy's coming back for his 14th season.
08:08Lane Johnson, I saw him lifting weights two weeks ago.
08:10That means when you lift weights, specifically your legs, you're playing football.
08:14Because, Joe, as a 22-year-old, when I ended my college football career, I swore I'd never do legs
08:20again.
08:2148 years old, haven't done legs since I was 22.
08:24How about that?
08:26Listen, we love the fact that he is coming back.
08:28It's clear they are a better team offensively when he plays.
08:33The problem is, great, you're back.
08:35Are you going to play more than six games?
08:37Because that's the big issue here.
08:40Just saying.
08:41Lane Train.
08:42By the way, also, Landon Dickerson announced he's coming back.
08:45And also, your center, I believe, is like Medellin getting weird transmissions into your body and, you know, sensors put
08:54in there and plasmas here.
08:56That offensive line, Joe, back for the Eagles.
08:59Woo-hoo!
09:00Let's go!
09:00Come on!
09:02Yeah.
09:02Get her done, Eagles.
09:03Get her, again, stay healthy, Eagles.
09:06Get some depth on the offensive line, Eagles, and figure out what you're going to do with A.J. Brown,
09:11Eagles.
09:12And by the way, shame on you people out there.
09:14I wish the NFL played 50 weeks out of the, a lot of months here.
09:19Weeks here.
09:20I like it.
09:20I can't even talk to you.
09:21I miss the NFL so much.
09:22I'm sorry.
09:23What do we do?
09:24Hot topics, we got them.
