00:00Hello everyone, welcome to INS. First of all, I would want to start off by asking Saurabh, sir, congratulations for
00:05Sangeh Marmar that's about to release.
00:08What was the core thought or the germ of the show and then how did you go about building the
00:13entire universe around the characters, the pyramids and everything?
00:17Actually, Sangeh Marmar is a subject very close to me, close to all of us at Rashtri.
00:22So, it started with when Jio Studios approached us for a project which brings the television and the OTT together
00:33closer.
00:34And they wanted something which will make OTT more communal, family viewing and they wanted a Bharat ki story and
00:42they wanted a long format.
00:44And immediately we were inspired to tell them this story and they immediately took it up.
00:50So, here Sangeh Marmar, the title, it represents the relationship of this boy and a girl.
00:57They live in Agra and 25 years of togetherness without marriage because of bandishay and the 25 years of growing
01:07up together.
01:07Like she tells, ask the hero in the first episode, she says, she was holy when things broke apart.
01:19and she says that
01:22us ke baad in pachhi salo mein
01:24humare beech ke rishte pe
01:25kitne daag dhoen hai tumne
01:28and to grow up together
01:29so that sange marmar represents
01:31the purity of that marble
01:33and the love that stands a test of time
01:36so it's a very
01:38layered show for us
01:39one of the deepest love
01:41stories we have conceived and
01:43we are very fortunate we are getting it at
01:45streaming so we can play more with the characters
01:49and my next question
01:50is for the actors if you could
01:52walk me through the world of your characters
01:54their values
01:56how they look at the world their perspective and
01:58everything anyone can take the lead and start
02:02i think sange marmar
02:04for amrita is
02:06is more about
02:08how her situation
02:10her dreams change because of
02:12the choices
02:14that she has taken
02:15responsibility
02:17and dreams
02:18balance
02:19in such a situation
02:21where responsibility
02:23to take the home
02:25was necessary to take the time
02:27the right and wrong
02:28is different
02:31but her dreams
02:32was necessary to take the time
02:36for the time
02:37and how
02:38in this process
02:40her dreams
02:42and her love
02:42and her
02:45also
02:46after the distance
02:49and after the time
02:50and after the time
02:52and after the situation
02:53and after the circumstances
02:55she doesn't leave her hands
02:56she doesn't leave her hands
02:56and she has a strength
02:58and she is given her
02:59and she is given her
03:01and she is given her
03:04and she is given her
03:05so the line in the promo
03:08is that
03:09behind every successful woman
03:11there is an understanding man
03:12so
03:14there is a support
03:15and a strength
03:17and then
03:17the situations
03:18that you are
03:19getting further
03:22in life
03:23so this is
03:24for us
03:25now
03:26to tell us
03:30in this
03:31today
03:31where
03:32everything
03:33is
03:34very fast
03:35and fast
03:35and fast
03:36and fast
03:37there is a very beautiful story
03:41here
03:41where
03:42two people
03:43are in their situations
03:45and
03:46with their responsibilities
03:47but
03:48for another
03:49they are
03:50very long
03:50for us
03:53without
03:53any expectation
03:57only
03:57love
03:57and
03:58I think
03:59it is a very amazing
04:03story
04:03that
04:04how people
04:06want to
04:07love
04:07it
04:08will
04:10explain
04:10it
04:12and
04:13Suraj sir
04:13coming back to you
04:14you have said
04:15when you started working on this show
04:17the initial thought was
04:18to
04:19bridge the gap between
04:20OTT
04:20and television
04:21television
04:22has happened in India
04:24OTT
04:25itself
04:2510 years old
04:26in the media
04:26has happened to them
04:28both
04:29and
04:30to
04:30introduce the values
04:31and
04:34storytelling
04:34through
04:34what was that process like for you
04:37and how did you go about
04:38laying that ground
04:39first
04:39we
04:40put everything aside
04:42all economics aside
04:43and a lot of credit to
04:45Rajita Sharmaji
04:45our writer
04:46and
04:477-8
04:47we have only developed character
04:50we worked on the structure
04:51because
04:52finally
04:52it is a story
04:54it is a story
04:55it is a story
04:56it is a story
04:56it is a story
04:56it is a story
04:57it is a story
04:57it is a story
05:02we wrote this journey
05:04of two people
05:05right down to
05:06how much weight
05:07she will put on
05:07how her dress
05:09will change
05:09how his specs
05:10will come
05:11and yet
05:12we have to keep this love story alive
05:14that even
05:1452
05:1548
05:16both of them
05:17find each other very fetching
05:18and the jokes
05:20and the fun
05:21remains
05:22so that was a very big challenge for us
05:25so I give the entire credit to her
05:27to our team
05:28Rahul
05:29all of us
05:29we really worked
05:30at it
05:31that we must make something special
05:33and then of course
05:35when the casting came
05:36then Saurabh came
05:37they were the first choices
05:38and we are fortunate
05:39that
05:40that they are here
05:41and
05:42Vikram came as the director
05:44and none of us really thought
05:46that we are making another
05:48one of the shows
05:49we gave it a lot of love
05:51so the entire 47 episodes
05:53have been
05:54full of love
05:55from our side
05:56and the credit goes to Jio
05:58for inspiring us
05:59and to Jio Hotstar
06:00for finally bringing it here
06:02so
06:02it is a show of passion
06:05and one of the most layered show
06:07at Rajshri
06:07as a love story
06:08in such a scenario
06:10where responsibilities
06:11are so big in time
06:13how can one
06:14still go after love
06:16chase love
06:17in such a fast-paced world
06:19in your opinion
06:19the
06:21the
06:22circumstances
06:23were very
06:26life-changing
06:27circumstances
06:28and
06:29you are saying
06:31that you have to do
06:32that you have to do
06:33and this
06:34you have to do
06:35you have to do
06:36with your spouses
06:38and parents
06:39you have to do
06:40and you have to do
06:41Saturday and Sunday
06:42and this is the story
06:44here
06:44and this
06:45is the
06:481990s
06:49so
06:49at that time
06:50it was not so easy
06:51that you have to phone
06:52and you have to call
06:54a video
06:54or call
06:55at that time
06:56the waiting
06:57and the waiting
06:59and the waiting
06:59and the time
07:00the truth
07:01was
07:02in those two
07:02love
07:04it is not related
07:06to the time
07:07but
07:08at that time
07:09at that time
07:09in 2026
07:10the time
07:10and
07:12the time
07:13the time
07:15maintaining
07:15love
07:16and
07:16it is a mature
07:19love story
07:20it is not about
07:21that it has not been married
07:22so
07:23they have not found an easy way out
07:25so
07:26I think
07:26if
07:27Amrita
07:28has done it
07:28many people
07:30can relate
07:30with these situations
07:31and
07:33relate
07:34and
07:36they can see
07:37that
07:38it is not easy
07:39to give up on love
07:41even if
07:42you have responsibilities
07:45and
07:45Saurabh
07:46with regards
07:46to
07:47you as an artist
07:48I have learnt
07:49you double across
07:50three different mediums
07:51radio, television, OTT
07:52now
07:52how do you compartmentalize yourself
07:54your art
07:55as an artist
07:56how do you compartmentalize
07:57that piece
07:58that is very
07:59integral
07:59to an artist's performance
08:01how does that happen?
08:02I don't need to compartmentalize
08:06as a performer
08:08it is different mediums
08:10but I need to perform
08:11in radio
08:12it is just your voice modulation
08:14that you need to perform
08:15in radio
08:15and
08:16as an actor
08:17be it on theatre
08:19or
08:20maybe in the web
08:21or maybe TV
08:22or movies
08:23you are acting
08:24I don't think that
08:25you require a different
08:27set of skills
08:28to perform
08:28in different platforms
08:29as an actor
08:30you are an actor
08:30no matter where you are performing
08:32so that ways
08:33I feel lucky
08:34that I get to perform
08:36on different platforms
08:38I want to talk about
08:38the things
08:39I want to talk about
08:41one thing is
08:42one thing is
08:42one thing is
08:43one thing is
08:44one thing is
08:44one thing is
08:44one thing is
08:45I think
08:45there is a difference
08:46in that
08:47this show
08:49will tell you
08:50how do you
08:51give it
08:52another thing is
08:54which is a beautiful thought
08:56and
08:57as I have told you
08:59before
09:00many people
09:00who are impatient
09:03they are impatient
09:04they are
09:04they are
09:04they are impatient
09:08reels
09:08etc
09:09etc
09:11for many
09:12there are
09:13some people
09:13who are not
09:14but
09:14if they will see
09:15this show
09:16I think they will understand
09:17the real emotion
09:19of true love
09:21so they should have
09:22to see this
09:22I hope
09:24you like this show
09:25and you
09:26give yourself
09:26very much
09:27and in extension
09:29to that
09:29you mentioned radio
09:30now
09:31radio is one place
09:32where you have to
09:34stress on your voice
09:35the modulation
09:35and everything
09:37as an actor
09:37when you step out
09:38of that medium
09:39let's say
09:39working in cinema
09:40or rooted your television
09:42is your first instinct
09:44to get naturally drawn
09:45to how you are
09:46modulating your voice
09:47in front of the camera
09:48or how does it happen
09:50like I said
09:51they don't have to think
09:52like that
09:53if I am playing a character
09:54and I have a
09:55modulation requirement
09:56as per the scenes
09:58then that comes out
10:00without even thinking
10:01that I need to do it
10:02because if you are
10:03in the moment
10:04and in the emotions
10:05then you don't have to
10:07pre-think that
10:08in that particular word
10:09or in that particular line
10:10I am going to
10:11modulate in that manner
10:13it just happens
10:13that is I think
10:15what expressing
10:16is all about
10:17be with your facial expressions
10:19or be with the voice
10:21and coming to you sir
10:25artists are very sensitive
10:26people by nature
10:27you know
10:27they hold their heart
10:28very close to their heart
10:29their art
10:30very close to their hearts
10:32but
10:32I was listening to your
10:34prior interview
10:35you said that
10:35you know
10:35kabhi kabhi cheezei work
10:36nahi karti hai
10:37jasa aapna expect kiya tha
10:38story ahead of the time ho sakti
10:40us time shayad work nahi kare
10:41it may explode
10:44but
10:44since you have been
10:45in the industry for so long
10:46how can
10:47a younger generation of artists
10:49they
10:50deal with that pain
10:51that comes from
10:52the non-acceptance
10:53of an artwork
10:54that
10:54an artist
10:56makes for the audience
10:57for a larger audience
10:58ye toh we all have to accept
11:00when you step into
11:01this field
11:02or any other field
11:03you have to accept
11:05that
11:05some things will work
11:06some things will not work
11:08but
11:09I think
11:09map dand
11:10itna hi ho ta hai
11:11main ki
11:11have we done our best or not
11:13wo hii map dand hai actually
11:16kyunki
11:16ye toh cinema hai
11:18because
11:18we are talked about
11:19but in real life
11:20also if you see
11:21koi din achcha ho ga
11:22koi business proposal
11:23banta hai
11:24koi chai maine kaam karo
11:25nahi ho ta
11:26we all face this
11:27aapka bhi koi interview ho ga
11:29koi nahi ho ga achcha
11:30these are all part
11:31so I think we all have to be prepared
11:33but yes
11:33artists
11:35like you correctly said
11:36they are emotional people
11:38so an artist has to be prepared
11:41that this will work or not
11:43so you have to go with the gita
11:45philosophy
11:46you have to do your best
11:47you have to do your best
11:47aapke hat mein aapka best hai
11:48and kabhi aap apne koi bhi senior actor se puchha hai
11:51they will all tell this only
11:54that sometimes while a project is on
11:56of course I am sure Saurabh and Shinov
11:58have also lot of experience
11:59bante bante you come to know
12:01this project is not working the way it should
12:05maybe the director writing
12:07that time you have to do your best
12:09and that is the professionalism
12:11that is professionalism where you decide
12:13kai I have to do my best
12:15and try my best to get the best work from others
12:19at that time we must not falter ki nahi mein nahi jahonga
12:22but I think it is all about professionalism
12:24art belongs
12:25you have to be prepared
12:26some things will work
12:28some things will not
12:28but the best part of this profession is
12:31agar kisi ka ek project nahi chalta
12:34the next can do outstanding
12:36aur koi business mein ye apko chance di milta
12:39that the next can be
12:40if I put up an industry
12:42it doesn't work
12:43it will take me years to put up again
12:45but if I make another film
12:47it may just become
12:48so that is the best part of this profession
12:52and my next question is for the actors
12:54working in a title like Sange Murmur
12:57under his guidance
12:57his guiding light
12:59what has been the experience for you
13:01what are the qualities
13:03of an artist that you have imbibed from him
13:05I think Rajshri Productions
13:07known hai apne values ke liye
13:09aur aashkal ke time mein basically kya hota hai na
13:11ki ghar par bait kar
13:12hum sab log
13:13sab log mera matlab hai
13:14puri family members
13:15saath mein koi cheez dek paaye
13:17waisi cheez hai bohut kam banti
13:19in fact
13:20I might
13:21uh
13:21go beyond certain line
13:23even on television
13:24there are certain things
13:26which you can't sit with everyone
13:27you can't sit with everyone
13:28you can't sit with everyone
13:28because those
13:29shore goals
13:30and those things
13:32you don't want to see your children
13:33or if you are children
13:35you don't want to see your parents
13:37but Rajshri
13:39I think
13:40is a production house
13:41you can't sit with everyone
13:43you can't sit with everyone
13:46you can't sit with your parents
14:11and I thank you
14:12and thank you
14:13and thank you
14:41is saying
14:41is 2.0
14:42not from T.R.P.
15:11It is not in the tent, it is also in the functioning of the values.
15:16I will share it with a small example. I am sure sir will not know.
15:19But I had a show for a long time. I played a home game.
15:23It was a cameo roll.
15:25It was a cameo for 2-3 months.
15:27In a month, like few days, few days, few days.
15:31Generally, what happens in our TV line?
15:33You have the payment of the telecast for 30 days or 60 days.
15:38But I remember this was the only experience that I ever got.
15:43In totality of those 3 months payment came within a month in totality.
15:49I never had to ask. I never had to wait.
15:52And I think that purity is seen in the content that Rajshree makes.
15:58And for my final question, Suraj sir.
16:01India is a very diverse land culturally.
16:03There are so many stories.
16:04There are so many stories in India.
16:06Audio, storytelling is now in the West and internationally.
16:10But I am listening to my parents and grandparents.
16:15In this country, there is so much depth of density in the culture.
16:22Do you think it is the best country to be an artist and to be a storyteller?
16:27It is a great country to be.
16:30Because there is a story in every house and we are a family oriented nation.
16:42So, for people like us who essentially make family oriented subject, this is a treat to be.
16:51And we like to be nowhere else.
16:53And Indian culture, Indianness with grace is a lethal combination.
16:58And this is defined in various ways.
17:03We have moved forward.
17:04We have kept with the times.
17:06Yet we are Indian.
17:08And we are proud of it.
17:09So, that's what Sangye Maramar also represents.
17:12So, it's a lovely country.
17:14And we have to be proud.
17:15And we are so proud we are born here.
17:17There is just one point I want to add to what Saurabh said.
17:22That my experience has been that the project we have enjoyed, all of us, that project works.
17:34And in the process, if we have not enjoyed any of us, that doesn't work.
17:40This is the barometer I have seen in all our last 62 movies.
17:44Does this all go away?
17:46Let's say in a project, the artists are not enjoying that much.
17:50Does it take away the soul of the entire project?
17:52Some part it may take off.
17:54Sometime.
17:55I am being very blunt, very honest.
17:56But this is a fact.
17:58Because it's all about energies.
18:00And I am very happy that in Sangye Maramar we are right on top.
18:04We have all enjoyed in our own spaces.
18:06Perfect.
18:07So, with that we have reached the end of this conversation.
18:09Kuch aasi baad joo mujhse puchhne rahe gahi ho.
18:10Ya haap kuchh khahna chate hai, to haap kya sakti hai.
18:14Please watch Sangye Marmar.
