00:19Bonjour, bonjour à tous, je ne sais pas si vous vous souvenez de Michael Kassan.
00:25Michael Kassan, qui est le founder de Medialink, et nous allons maintenant avoir la difficulte task de manager le CMO
00:39Summit.
00:40Michael, first of all, welcome.
00:43Thank you, Maurice.
00:44Thank you.
00:45It's so good to be here.
00:46It's wonderful to be here.
00:48Oh, great.
00:49You should look at the audience.
00:51I will teach you how to operate.
00:54Oh, but I'm trying to look at you.
00:56Le grand fromage.
01:01Don't pay attention to the jokes of Michael.
01:05So, great to have you.
01:06It's absolutely fantastic.
01:08So, tell us a little bit about this CMO Summit.
01:11So, first of all, Maurice, I want to thank you and Viva Tech for the opportunity to be here yet
01:18again, and most importantly, the opportunity to be your partner.
01:22We've been friends for so many years, and the opportunity...
01:25I remember, he had not even a shirt.
01:31This is actually true.
01:33I had one, but I had to have it washed every night.
01:38It's a good memory, Maurice.
01:40Yeah, yeah.
01:41But, Maurice, I think of the memory of Viva Tech, and you'll correct me, but I know I think this
01:47is my fifth year, maybe.
01:50Am I correct about that?
01:51What is the anniversary of Viva Tech?
01:54It's the eighth year and the seventh edition, and for you, it's the fifth one.
02:04You missed the two first, but that's because you are never ahead of the curve.
02:12So, I try to look around the corner.
02:16Yeah, and you have been a wonderful friend because I asked you to be a partner for what was the
02:27CMO Forum, which is now a CMO Summit,
02:32and you have been absolutely fantastic, bringing in the best people of the world, and we will have some big
02:39names today.
02:40Well, Maurice, it's easy.
02:43First of all, the importance of Viva Tech to the marketing industry, you've established something that, from a clean piece
02:50of paper, you created something fabulous.
02:53Because the moment that you saw, and I think this is where you were prescient, you saw that marriage of
03:00technology,
03:01and, as I say, the way I describe MediaLink, I think, is a small bit of how you fashioned publicis,
03:10and Viva Tech being an expression of that.
03:13It's the intersection of marketing, media, advertising, and technology.
03:18I throw in entertainment and sports because I think that's part of the intersection.
03:22You have the physics of sports.
03:25Well, I thought I was the cruise director on a cruise ship, so I was dressing appropriately.
03:32The weather here in Paris makes me feel like I should be in the sun.
03:36But, Maurice, truthfully, what you've created here is extraordinary,
03:41and it is the marriage of technology and marketing and media and advertising coming together.
03:47And the importance, and you and I were early in this, I know you had Mark Benioff here yesterday as
03:54an example.
03:55When Mark launched the marketing cloud, as you remember, it was an understanding of how marketers adopt technology differently.
04:04And we, as you recall, saw the merger, if you will, of the chief technology officer and the chief marketing
04:12officer.
04:12As we saw, and you, again, were head of the curve on this with the acquisitions you made,
04:18but the idea that a chief technology officer has to make more marketing decisions than ever before,
04:25and a chief marketing officer has to make more technology decisions than ever before,
04:30we said it in a funny way, the person with the pocket protector was now the same as the person
04:36with the pocket square.
04:37And it was bringing together the, you know, if you will, the madmen and the mathmen.
04:43It was bringing the two together and changing the paradigm.
04:46And I think, number one, you did this brilliantly with Publicis,
04:50but VivaTech, as I say, has been a wonderful expression of that.
04:54Thank you. Thank you, Michael.
04:56You are very generous, and I appreciate it. Thank you.
05:00I have one more thing to add, though, Maurice.
05:02I understand I heard a rumor.
05:04And the rumor I heard is this afternoon, you'll be interviewing this sort of obscure person
05:10that nobody knows of, nobody's heard of.
05:13I think his name is Elon Musk, I understand.
05:18I think it is Elon Musk.
05:21I don't know how to pronounce it.
05:23By the way, you should help me to pronounce it,
05:25because I don't want to shock him with my French accent.
05:28Well, but the secret, the secret, Maurice, is recently another friend of mine
05:35conducted an interview with Elon Musk in Miami at a conference.
05:39And the next thing you know, she became the CEO of Twitter.
05:43So I just want to know, are you having a job interview this afternoon?
05:50Michael, it was a secret.
05:53I was hoping that after the interview, Elon will offer me a job.
05:59It worked.
06:00It's really too bad.
06:02You are killing me now.
06:03And you are killing my plans.
06:05Well, I have a feeling it will work out just fine.
06:09Yeah.
06:10Maurice?
06:10Thank you.
06:10And I understand that now you are going to interview Chris Stack.
06:16Yes.
06:16And I'm very happy because Chris is not only a very good friend,
06:22but Chris is the CMO and more than CMO of Alibaba.
06:28Actually now the president of corporate development.
06:31Exactly.
06:32For the Alibaba group.
06:33You know.
06:34And Chris has been always a very good friend,
06:37and he has made the trip coming from China for that event.
06:45And this is something for which I'm extremely grateful.
06:49I'm sure that you will get from Chris a lot of information
06:54of what's going on with Alibaba.
06:57What about the restructuring?
06:59We had already Michael Evans who shared with us a few ideas
07:03and what was the plan.
07:07And I'm sure it will be a great, great session.
