00:00So we have three different start-ups who are going to pitch various, yeah, contrasting ideas, but to help people
00:06be better served in the future.
00:10First up, these guys, they're called Knap, and I believe we have this person? No? Okay, Knap, do we have?
00:20You're behind me.
00:21Okay, welcome. What's your name? Amin, Amin, Amin from Knap. Okay, I'm sorry.
00:34Hi everyone, my name is Amin Youssef, and I'm a project manager at Knap, and I am here today to
00:41present the new way of doing grocery shopping.
00:48So, before talking about how we had, I mean, what it is, the shopping cart, and how to use it,
00:54I'm going to tell you how we had the idea.
00:57First thing first, everything we've known, such as watching entertainment shows and communicating, have gone through so much changes, except
01:06one thing that we do every day or every week, and it is doing our grocery shopping.
01:11It is outdated, we take products from the shelves, and we put them in our shopping cart, we go to
01:18the checkout line, take them out, scan them, have the cashier scan them, and then pay for them.
01:25Why do we have to go through all these steps when we have the Knap cart? We can do all
01:31of these steps using one tool.
01:34Plus, when there's a lot of customers in the store, it generates customer traffic, which, in fact, put a lot
01:42of stress on the store personnel.
01:48So, to solve these problematics, we came up with a simple solution, the Knap cart.
01:54So, what it is, it is a Neo-Retro designed shopping cart that we've equipped with multiple hardware devices and
02:06electrical components,
02:08such as a scanner to scan the products, an LCD screen display to show, to actually display the information of
02:16the product directly to the customer,
02:19four weight sensors and cameras to manage the soaping session, and a battery to keep it all alive.
02:31So, how do I use, as a customer, the Knap cart?
02:36First of all, I have to go through the sign-in process, which is fast and easy.
02:41You only need three inputs, your phone number, a four-digit password that you have to create, and a loyalty
02:49card, the store loyalty card that you have to link to your Knap account.
02:54And then, once I went through this sign-in process, I can log in using my phone number and my
03:06password.
03:10Here we have a little, and there's a little tutorial where we advise our customers to put the actual bag
03:18in the shopping cart when doing the shopping.
03:24So, a new way to do grocery shopping.
03:28I can take the product and directly scan it on my shopping cart, and then put it in my shopping
03:35trolley.
03:37As you can see, there's a lot of information displayed to the customer.
03:41We have the title of the products, we have what it is, we have its price, how much, or how
03:46many, the quantity of the products we actually have in our stations.
03:51We have the, how much I'm going to pay.
03:53If there is a discount applied to the product, we're going to display it to you, to know how much
03:58money we saved.
04:00We can also have little tutorials to guide the customers, our new customers, to how to use the product.
04:07Let's see, I want to take the ketchup out of my session.
04:11All I have to do is click on this button, I go in the takeout mode, and then I scan
04:19it.
04:19I scan the product, and the product disappears.
04:27And we all have wasted a lot of time waiting in line at the checkout line, so just to pay
04:34for our groceries.
04:34So, we added a little button, the pay button, and we can have multiple payment systems.
04:40We can use the traditional one, when we have to go to a free cashier, have them scan our barcode,
04:48and then it's going to transfer our session from the shopping cart, with its discount, with its items, with its
04:53quantities, to the cash register.
04:55We can go through this process, this payment system, if you want to pay cash.
05:00But if you want to pay using our credit card, you can go to the payment on the Knapp card.
05:04It is a payment managed by the bank, everything is encrypted, we do not keep or upload any bank or
05:15credit card information.
05:20So, what do we have in store for our clients?
05:23We've talked about the integration of our client's digital environment, that is for the sign-in, the login, and to
05:32access the product's database.
05:34Detail, products, compositions.
05:36As you can see on the screen, we can also display nutrients, the actual details, information about the products, such
05:47as nutrients, how much sugar we have in the products, how much protein we have in the products, how healthy
05:53is the product.
05:54Is it vegan?
05:55Is it not vegan?
05:56We can display this information to the client.
06:00And then, what we have in store for 2022 and 2023, is to add a little functionality which is called
06:07shopping list.
06:08You can download your shopping list directly from your smartphone into your shopping cart.
06:14It's going to pre-fill the items that you want to buy, and you can scan them, and it's going
06:20to validate each and every item you scan.
06:22If you do not scan all of your items, it's not going to block your session.
06:27You still can get to the payment step.
06:32And we want to add also a little functionality, a new one which is called recipes.
06:38We can go to the menu here, and you're going to have a little button here, which we're going to
06:44call it recipes, and then you're going to search for a recipe.
06:47Let's say, mister, when I eat some carbonara pasta tonight, it's just going to choose the carbonara pasta.
06:54It's going to pre-fill all the items required for the search to prepare and cook a carbonara pasta.
07:03Thank you for listening.
07:07Okay, thank you very much, Amin.
07:08Before you trolley away, I just had a couple of questions really about this.
07:16So, this will make a supermarket virtually automated, right?
07:21I mean, if you have a supermarket that has automated payments, then you've got what?
07:28Just like security at the end of the day, right?
07:31I mean, yes and no, because before we get to that stage, we will need years and years of development
07:37to get to that stage when we're going to have fully automated shopping, grocery stores.
07:46Okay.
07:47So, for example, I mean, it looks great, it sounds great, but what's stopping, for example, people putting goods in
07:52their trolley,
07:52and then when they're taking it out to leave, to not pay for them or to avoid paying for the
07:57goods?
07:59So, you're right, I didn't show it, because we have what we call a control system.
08:05You're right, I didn't show it, because you have what we call a control system.
08:09You have weight sensors and a camera.
08:12Yeah.
08:13If I take my products out of my shopping bag, shopping cart, and put it, without scanning it, in the
08:23shopping story, it's going to display an error.
08:27It says, retire l'article déposé, check away the products.
08:31If I check it, if I do not check it, if I click on the button, I did not put
08:39anything in the shopping cart, a small video is going to be recorded using these cameras here.
08:44Okay.
08:44We have two cameras here.
08:46A small video is going to be recorded, sent to our server, we're going to analyze the video, and then
08:50we're going to give it a status.
08:52Is it a fraudulent action or a non-fraudulent action?
08:55If it is a fraudulent action, it's going to block the session, it's going to get controlled by someone of
09:00the personnel, and then it's going to get checked.
09:02Okay, great, there you go.
09:04Thanks for answering that question.
09:06Ladies and gentlemen, Knap.
09:15Now is our next startup in this segment of services.
09:20These guys have a cool desktop meetings piece of equipment.
09:26I don't really know how to describe it, but it's kind of like a snazzy way of doing those awful
09:35Zooms and Teams meetings that we're all so used to.
09:38So these guys have a solution to make them a little bit more interactive and to make the experience better,
09:45because let's be honest, Teams and Zoom and all these sort of virtual meetings, they're not going away fast, so
09:51we can certainly try to make them a little bit more enjoyable.
09:56Tell me when you're ready, guys.
10:03Studio Code.
10:07Ding, ding, ding.
10:15This is Co, the first 360 device for flexible telepresence.
10:21It has four screens, four cameras, and a great 360 sound.
10:27We redefine telepresence with 360 eye contact.
10:33Your conversations right in the center of the perfect place.
10:41Superpowers for your hybrid workers, wherever they are.
10:48Good evening.
10:50I'm Rafael, CEO and founder with my co-founder here of Studio Code.
10:56And the idea to create and to design this comes from a personal experience.
11:02I worked during six years between Geneva and Brussels, in remote, before COVID.
11:09And trust me, I was disappointed because my colleagues, they were based in Brussels and I was alone in Geneva.
11:17And I was feeling the distance.
11:20You know, during the last two years, you were all very well connected because you were all working from home.
11:26But in hybrid work, it's a bit more complex.
11:29And I will explain to you.
11:32And this is the system.
11:34Let's go.
11:35So just quickly, it's four times the same display.
11:39So no, it's not turning on itself.
11:43You don't need to turn.
11:44You can use a device from anywhere, from any angle.
11:49It's infinite.
11:54The idea of hybrid work is, of course, flexibility to enjoy, to work from home on Wednesday.
12:01Or maybe sometimes on Monday, you can choose.
12:04But at least now people, what they want is to work at least one or two days per week at
12:12home.
12:12And this is also a very big opportunity to reduce CO2 emissions.
12:185% instead.
12:21So sorry, Elon Musk.
12:22Not all companies are industrial and need all people to be at office.
12:27We can really take this as an opportunity.
12:29But there is a challenge of experience between the people at office and the people working from home.
12:39By moving around, by going to HQ, what I see sometimes is they don't even have cameras below TVs.
12:48How can you work without looking at people?
12:51But even when you have cameras, the thing is, you don't see remote people, but because when you display content,
13:00then those people become very small on the top of the screen.
13:05And also there is an issue with that setup, which is basically the main setup that you have now in
13:10all media meeting rooms.
13:12Which is, if I'm looking at the screen, do you think he can see my face?
13:19Do you see my face?
13:21No.
13:22If I'm looking to him, do you think remote people can see my face?
13:28Neither.
13:29So there is that kind of disconnection which creates a distance.
13:33So the conclusion is, even if you put two displays, which is a new trend, which is to put really
13:39a larger display, because people want to see the gallery view that they had during the last two years.
13:43Great, but you still have the problem of blind spots.
13:48Or you can invest in a face to screen like Microsoft is promoting, which is also great, but you are
13:54facing to the screen.
13:55So why come to HQ if you can't have a really true face to face experience?
14:01If you can come here, maybe.
14:04So this is the idea.
14:06It's not to delete the TV.
14:08The TV here is great for content, but to make sure that once you start to engage with your colleagues,
14:16you can always see remote people.
14:20Always in a cycle, in a very natural.
14:23It's because it's physical. They are here in the center of the conversation.
14:27And for remote users, they have superpowers, because they are always visible when you start to engage.
14:36And that's really, really important.
14:38So it's not nice to have. It's really a must-have for both sides.
14:43And we have four cameras, so it means that we can capture all of you.
14:49I will show it to you now, quickly.
14:54No, it's disconnected, so wait two seconds.
14:59Okay, demo effects. I can show you the camera, which is okay.
15:04Tomorrow.
15:06So, the price is 8,000 euros.
15:11It can look expensive, it can look cheap.
15:13At the end, it's really important to have that kind of connection between employees.
15:18We are not the most expensive, because if you take the panoramic approach of Microsoft or Cisco, it's five times
15:25more expensive.
15:26So, and where we are now, is we did a lot of demos.
15:31This is still a demo. We are going into the pre-series stage.
15:36We plan to do the mass production end of here.
15:38We had a lot of resellers, super interested.
15:41And we are here with a demo, if you really want to see it closer, because you need to be
15:46at least one meter and a half, two meters of distance.
15:49From where you are, you are too far away, sorry.
15:52So, later you can come here.
15:54And it's coming, so it's, we really want to be a stand-up.
16:00We don't want IT people to say, okay guys, but this is a special device.
16:04So, it's working with Microsoft Team Rooms, it's working with Zoom Rooms.
16:08And like this, it's super easy.
16:09In fact, it's as easy as a normal setup.
16:14It's just, this place and camera are in the center.
16:21I think I'm ready. If you have some questions for me.
16:27Okay, thanks very much. So, alright, yeah, questions.
16:31So this, so, okay, so I introduced you wrong, because I was talking about remote working.
16:36But this is really hybrid working, right?
16:38Yes.
16:40Okay, we don't really have them, right?
16:42We don't really have, hybrid working is very new.
16:44It's something that...
16:46It's new in Europe, but for instance in Asia, in Singapore, it's a new norm.
16:53Okay.
16:53And also in services companies like telecoms, etc., they are all in hybrid work.
16:59Even what they are facing now is people don't want to come back to the HQ.
17:05Right, okay.
17:05Because they don't have any real reason except maybe sometimes to have a meeting.
17:09Yeah.
17:09So how can you make sure that you can have at least a good collaboration, a physical collaboration?
17:15Because physical collaboration is the best experience to do collaboration.
17:19Okay, so this is really a device to get people on-site and off-site working more together.
17:25Yes.
17:26As opposed to just everyone going to their own corner or their homes and working remotely.
17:29Because the worst thing is to have people going to HQ and when they have a meeting, they isolate themselves.
17:37Yeah.
17:38And it's happening right now.
17:40Yeah.
17:40They are not satisfied.
17:41So they prefer to be in distributed way.
17:44Yeah.
17:45To take their own laptop or to stay at their own desk.
17:49So if the idea is to come back to the HQ to have a physical meeting and at the same
17:54time you come back to your loneliness, I think there is a problem.
18:00And that's the problem we are addressing.
18:02Okay, yes.
18:03Okay, good.
18:04Good.
18:04So, yeah.
18:05Isolation, not good.
18:06Just one more question.
18:08What influenced you for the design of it?
18:10Why this circular?
18:12It's to make sure that you can see it from any angle.
18:16Okay.
18:16Because if it was a cube first, it would be ugly.
18:19Right.
18:20Ugly design.
18:21You know, it's not right.
18:22If it's ugly, you don't want to have it in the middle of your meeting room.
18:26Okay.
18:27And also for the inclusiveness.
18:29You have the same experience from any angle.
18:32Okay.
18:32Yeah, yeah.
18:33I can see that.
18:34So this is the first and unique device in the world.
18:38It's the first time that you can see this with flexible displays.
18:42Without flexible displays, we wouldn't be able to do that.
18:46Okay.
18:47Well, listen.
18:48Thank you very much, both of you.
18:49Studio Co, ladies and gentlemen.
18:51With the devices called?

24:33Super.
24:34Ok.
24:35Any questions de l'audience?
24:37On ce?
24:39How much?
24:39Sorry?
24:40How much?
24:41How much?
24:42It's not expensive, so...
24:43It's not expensive.
24:45That's not the answer he wants.
24:46If your chef in your yacht, like, would like to give you, like, the lemon from the region
24:50of south of Italy, for the lunchtime, so we can bring him to him in five minutes from
24:54the port.
24:55Even if it's not placed in the port of Marina in Capri, for example.
25:00So he paid 3.99 to receive the lemon right now.
25:03But the surprise is, in the lunch menu, you have the lemon from the region.
25:06And the boats don't park in the port, so...
25:12We sell the service.
25:14We don't sell the service.
25:14We don't sell the service.
25:14We don't sell the service.
25:15We don't sell the service.
25:16Yeah.
25:17Thank you very much.
25:18It's a very nice-looking drone, actually.
25:20So, yeah, thanks very much.
25:20Welcome to our booth.
25:22Drone to the yacht, ladies and gentlemen.
25:25Thank you very much.
25:25Thank you, Michael.
25:28All right, so let's take a little break before we go into our last segment of the day.
