Chinese New Year morning was marred by a fatal road accident at KM443.2 of the North-South Expressway near Bukit Beruntung, Rawang, heading towards Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (Feb 17).

00:04A fatal road accident on Chinese New Year morning has claimed one life on the North-South Expressway
00:10in Selangor. The crash occurred at 7.33 in the morning near Bukit Beruntung in Rawang along the
00:17stretch heading towards Kuala Lumpur. The collision involved two cars and a trailer lorry carrying
00:23limestone powder. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call minutes after
00:30the crash and arrived at the scene within eight minutes. A woman in her 50s who was a passenger in
00:36one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene by health ministry personnel. The driver of that
00:42same car, a man in his 50s, sustained minor injuries. The lorry driver, a man in his 40s, suffered serious
00:50head injuries and was handed over for further treatment. The driver of the second car escaped
00:56unhurt. 14 firemen were deployed to the scene for the rescue operation. All injured victims were
01:03handed over to health ministry personnel for further treatment.
