Traffic flow on major highways leading out of the Klang Valley is heavily congested on Thursday (March 19) evening as vehicle volume surges ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays.

00:01Traffic along main highways out of the Klang Valley was reported to be congested on Thursday afternoon,
00:08following a sharp increase in the number of vehicles ahead of the Hari Raya Idolfitri holidays.
00:14The Malaysian Highway Authority said for northbound traffic,
00:18the worst congestion was detected on the stretch between Tapa and Gopeng,
00:22following a fatal crash at the 296.7km of the North-South Expressway.
00:29They said,
00:31Although clearance works at the crash site have been completed,
00:34rainy weather in the area contributed to slower vehicle movement.
00:38In addition, traffic was reported to be moving slowly on the Bukit Lanjan to Rawang Stretch,
00:44Taiping to Bukit Mera, Jawi to Bandar Kasia, and from Juru towards Batam.
00:50For southbound routes, traffic was slow moving from University Putra Malaysia to Kajang,
00:55as well as from Bandar Shri Putra to the Seremban Rest and Service area.
01:01High traffic volume also caused congestion on the Port Dixon to Senawang Stretch,
01:06Pedas Linggi to Simpang Ampat, and in the Kulai area towards Sedanak.
01:11Congestion was reported from the Gombak Toll Plaza to Bukit Tinggi,
01:16while on the East Coast Expressway Phase 2,
01:19traffic was slow from Chennai towards Chukai and around the Kuala Terengganu Toll Plaza.
01:25The authority expects traffic volume to continue increasing until midnight,
01:29as Thursday is the last day of the 50% discount for toll charges.
