00:00What I want out of this project is to have something
00:03that my dad is stoked about.
00:06I think that we take this down to that nice grassy area.
00:09Straighten up.
00:10Straighten your wheel.
00:11He built this thing by himself when he was almost
00:14the exact same age as Alex.
00:17Yep.
00:18And now my daughter and I get to remodel this.
00:22We did it.
00:24And then we get to bring it back for dad.
00:26Oh, now like we measured it.
00:29One, two, three.
00:33Oh my God.
00:36It's beautiful.
00:39My given name is Jared Cappy.
00:41But everyone calls me Cappy.
00:44This is probably one of the coolest things I've ever done.
00:46Everyone clear?
00:46I've been a professional builder for over 15 years.
00:50Woo hoo.
00:51But a few years ago, I teamed up with my daughter, Alex.
00:54Whoa, it looks so good in here.
00:58We specialize in transforming unconventional objects.
01:00Whoa.
01:02I'm awake now.
01:03What if we did use a plane?
01:04Wait, really?
01:05All right, Alex, she's all yours.
01:08Into one of a kind creations.
01:10Oh my God.
01:12It's so amazing.
01:14And we get to do it for our favorite people.
01:16Love you.
01:17Oh my God.
01:18Look it.
01:19Look it.
01:20Look it.
01:21Look it.
01:22What happened is we get to do it together.
01:39Building has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
01:43i built for clients for friends and family but never for the person who taught me how
01:48to build in the first place i'm talking about my dad larry cap he showed me how to drive a nail
01:55straight read the grain of wood before making a cut weld metal so clean it looked like one piece
02:06he taught me to build more than just structures
02:08but how to create spaces that hold people stories and love and last night i had an idea a project i
02:18could do just for him well this one working on yeah what are you working on some parsley yes they're
02:27so healthy in here this everything is very happy good job very happy mama's very happy in here too
02:32mm-hmm oh my god that is so big i'm so glad we made this for her yeah it was really exciting
02:39i think it was yesterday and we had mom and penny out here and they had so much fun especially since
02:45we had a lot of new flowers in here since that's mom's favorite right when mom and penny were in
02:52here putzing around i was driving with dad around our property he wanted to go sit at the fireside
02:58and he said this thing to me and i sort of caught me off guard a little bit i never thought i would
03:03be so lucky to sit here and look at this view right and i said to him i said well dad you can come
03:11out here anytime you want and he said well no i don't want to be a bother to you kids but he said
03:15they don't need an old man sitting here so last night i was just laying in bed thinking about
03:19what we could do for him out here so he could enjoy the space well i know that he sits on his
03:24front porch in spearfish a lot but i never thought about like yeah the fact that he just has to look
03:28at main street right yeah just is not quite as peaceful on his porch with traffic but uh if you
03:34got a minute i'd like to show you something yeah sure okay did you just eat some parsley it's good for you
03:44so when dad moved from long valley where the ranch was that he grew up on to spearfish just a little
03:54older than you are now he think he was just turned 17. oh wow
04:00and there was only two bedrooms in the house so grandma and grandpa got one and all four kids
04:05were supposed to be in one and dad was not interested he was the only boy yes he has three sisters
04:11yep when my grandparents bought the old motel in spearfish dad noticed an unused tool shed on the
04:19property so he remodeled that building into a bedroom so he lived out there by himself when he
04:25was your age and then after that grandpa and grandma put a number on it 15 and used it for a room so in like
04:341989 or 90 somewhere in there dad and i remodeled it again and there it is wait how did it end up here
04:44when the motel was sold and demolished in 93 number 15 was sold off with it then when i bought this land
04:51just outside of spearfish i was shocked to find it here the previous owner of this property was the same
04:57person who bought it from the old motel that's crazy so my thought was if we could take this building
05:03that was originally his that he remodeled and turn it into a space for him again that's cool yeah
05:11i thought about leaving it up here but it's sort of like the trees obviously block a little bit of
05:16the view and the entire point of this is to give him a view right so i think we take it down to that
05:22grassy area on the other side of the greenhouse where it'll be near the fireside but it'll be out
05:27of the way so dad won't feel like he's bothering anybody and it'll have the same view he loved that
05:31day we were talking about it are you thinking of the overall structure will stay the same i think
05:36we turn it sideways and put a big covered porch when i imagine it i see an appalachian style cabin
05:42they're known for having an extended roof that kicks out over a long porch i wonder if we do like
05:48a french door yeah i like the french yeah and i think that on the front porch there should definitely
05:54be some rocking chairs at least two so and then even though it is for larry i think that there should
05:59also be a space for his other half sure yes miss penny would love to sit in a rocking chair too with
06:04them i wonder if we can make it a garden or an orchard the old motel we had seven mature apple trees
06:11oh wow so i think it would be cool to put an orchard around it you want to lay out where you want that
06:16on that hill okay we're actually going to plant trees we'll need the fence up real soon okay so the
06:21deer don't eat the young trees yeah but let's make it a cool looking fence yeah the only other thing that
06:28i want to do is just peek inside and see what we're working with dude it's going to be perfect
06:32do you want to see yeah go for it okay oh whoa this is crazy
06:43yeah i mean it's not perfect it's a bit gross i think i'll definitely look into some new furniture
06:50and we can tear down these interior walls to make one big open space yeah i can totally see it this is
06:56definitely workable to build my dad's dream getaway we're stripping his beloved building number 15
07:05down to the bones and relocating it to the perfect spot where he can enjoy his favorite scenic view
07:11unobstructed by the trees we're giving it an appalachian twist by rotating the structure so the
07:17side will open up to the landscape and extending the roof line to create a covered porch inside and out
07:23it'll be transformed into this beautiful rustic hideaway complete with an orchard and a gated
07:29fence to keep the deer out my dad doesn't settle for average so the real challenge here is earning his
07:35seal of approval but sprout and i are up for the task it would be a perfect thing for him when i thought
07:42about why it meant so much to me this was a project that dad and i worked on just the two of us like none of
07:47my brothers helped and i remember it so vividly just because like i got to spend just me and dad
07:53so i think he'd be tickled to know that his granddaughter was involved in it dude i'm super
07:57jazzed dude that's gonna be neat awesome it was a tiny house before it was a hashtag
08:03sprouts back at granny flats designing a cool layout for the orchard and i'm staking out the foundation
08:21for number 15's new home
08:23my dad's an early riser and we want him to be able to come here and take in these sunrises
08:34over this amazing view not too bad
08:43i hear a diesel pickup our man tanner's here
08:47hello amigo how's it going thanks for coming yeah of course we're going to move that little
08:55white building from up on top of the hill down here and uh i want the top of concrete six inches out
09:01of the dirt okay so we'll just go steak to steak yep only special instructions from the kid
09:06do not hit the plum tree don't hit it don't don't get anywhere closer she texted me this morning
09:10make sure he doesn't touch the plum tree fine all right well you dig i'm going to call in some
09:15reinforcements to form up the foundation sounds good yeah give me a holler if you need anything
09:35when folks heard i was doing a build for my dad they showed up ready to help
09:45see if that's why you're here that looks a lot nicer than if i did it can't be nice of you to show
10:02up we just about got her dead and here you are listen i was on some really important calls uh-huh
10:09well since there's no cell service out here i doubt that yeah well i got here before mud so at least
10:17you can abuse me for that part of it well based off of the plans you didn't give me how does it look
10:22perfect okay that's what i love perfect i think we're ready to pour some concrete
10:39so we're pouring the footers for the walls and that's what the building will actually sit on top
10:47of many hands make light work
10:59while the concrete cures for a few days sprout jumps into bringing her orchard vision to life
11:04and sends me out to get the trees she's got the plan i'm just the guy with the truck
11:16hello i see that we have some trees yes it was successful so we got apple pear plum and cherry okay
11:26we'll just get them unloaded from the truck we'll get them set around next to each hole start planting
11:29some trees so i hope dad likes this and i think this is going to be a really cool sort of throwback
11:35to the old motel but with a little better view
11:47once the trees are in but before they become a buffet for our friendly neighborhood deer
11:52we'll put up a fence made from repurposed heavy duty steel posts
11:56this is drill stem used in well drilling for water wells as well as oil field work
12:02and once they reach a certain point they recycle them i'm happy to find a new home for these old pipes
12:09but i'm even happier i get to break in my shiny new toy give me one tap right there
12:15a skid steer attachment that pile drives these posts straight into the ground
12:20this thing is awesome my welding buddy rodney and his brother austin weld the angle iron between the
12:31fence posts turn and burn baby turn and burn this framework will hold the metal panels which will
12:37make up the fence itself it'll keep out our four-legged friends
12:53tackling a build this big is a lot of work so you have to break it up with a little fun
12:58it sometimes that fun has unintended consequences
13:08you are looking at it
13:13give me more
13:18all right truce
13:23once sprout dries off we head up the hill to start removing parts of the building that we don't want
13:28to use
13:36first thing first let's get all the interior stuff we can start with trim and then drywall and
13:42eventually we'll get rid of all these interior walls be careful um right i know demoing is exciting
13:48today we just work on the inside and then tomorrow we'll start on the outside okay so you good yep
13:52i'm good okay let's go
13:55jeez
13:57nice shot
13:58here's capi
14:04here's capi demo up front or before we move it is to make it lighter sheetrock is heavy windows doors
14:12are heavy siding is heavy shingles so the lighter we can make it the easier is to pick it up with the
14:17telehandler and take it to its new home
14:26today is a big day on the build we're moving the cabin down the hill to its new spot that'll happen
14:32when i get back i'm on the hunt for steel to turn into a custom gate for the orchard fence
14:37while i'm gone sprouts in charge of demoing any unwanted materials from the outside of number 15.
14:44today we're going to be working on the siding here we need to strip it so it'll be a lot lighter
14:51for when we move it down onto the orchard
14:56each piece of siding overlaps the one below it to give it a weather tight seal
15:00so the best way to demo it is top down i suppose i should have known that anything that was built
15:09by larry would be well built and hard to take apart oh
15:24i'm on my way to phillips south dakota about two hours east of spearfish i'm looking for some
15:29skeletons from a metal fabrication shop that's there so skeletons are these metal pieces that are
15:36left over when you cut a part out of a piece of sheet steel and i want to use one as a custom gate
15:43for the orchard
15:46capi brad helsel nice to meet you nice to meet you so pretty we've got a couple different bills on this
15:52side our co2 laser we cut five by ten sheets i see why you have golf carts yeah we have a big area
15:59we started in south dakota we ended up in montana
16:05oh nice this what you're after yes we've got a whole pile but if you take one you got to take them
16:13all deal so we got the score of the day do i need all of them no am i still going to take them yes
16:29the demo is done ahead of schedule and we're waiting on cappy but the weather isn't waiting on us
16:39well alec you're the boss so you make the call are we waiting for cap or we're just going to do it
16:44i say let's start because if we look out over there it looks like it could rain soon
16:48so i think let's start now all right sprout she's the real deal she cares about the project she cares
16:54about the clients she's running the crew like a master i couldn't be more proud of that girl
17:00you're the boss he is too late pancake on this one hello hey kiddo how's it going good we might be
17:10starting without you dang it i was wondering if you were you guys are so fast i thought that demo would
17:16take most of the day no all right well i guess i'll i'll catch up the second i can get up there
17:23okay sounds good all right love you thank you i love you so we currently have our interior and exterior
17:29all stripped and pulled out so right now it is light enough to lift it with the telehandler we're adding
17:36extensions on the fork so it can pick up the entire thing without having it tip off which is the exact
17:42opposite of what we want so working with sprout on this project for me you know we get to work on a
17:51lot of things together and i've always really tried to encourage her to have some ownership of these
17:57builds you know i remember distinctly as a kid cutting plywood or ripping boards with my dad and being
18:03so terrified to mess it up just remembering like the encouragement of well so what if you messed
18:09it up they'll make more i hope i've given her the courage to just try okay feed it in slowly
18:22this cabin is the biggest thing i've ever lifted with the telehandler so i've got to be careful
18:28i don't want to wreck the one thing that kathy wants to save for his dad down just a little bit
18:37there you go i think she's good i think we just need to strap it in strapped in and ready for takeoff
18:48just as the drizzle is turning the ground into a slip and slide straighten out okay straighten out
18:58straighten your wheel the good news is the storm is passing us by the bad news this cabin is heavy
19:11and it's awkward and yep i'm going backwards down a hill you got it
19:15all right all right we're gonna go over these blocks here in a second uh up yeah that's good we're
19:24halfway there hold me halfway oh and kathy's still not here looking good all in a day's work she's my hero
19:35hey there's kathy all the fun stuff without me look who finally showed up oh hey and right when we're
19:43about done too well you can go back to doing what you were doing we got this hi hi thanks for not
19:50waiting for me yep i didn't want to drive any faster with that load so these guys rocked this demo so fast
19:58i thought it would take all day um they finished it in just over half a day i'm super proud of her
20:03she's doing really good so the cabin is off its old site and successfully down the hill now all that's
20:11left is to bring it down safely slow is smooth smooth is fast we'll put it down on blocks for now so we
20:19can remove some of the rotting wood before we attach it to the foundation okay good yeah now i just
20:26shifted a foot yeah yeah we'll drive over just have her turn to the right okay and come a little bit more
20:31to the right with your steering wheel a little more i'd go right there this is so sensitive so just real
20:38easy yep perfect it happens to all of us good thing dad built this thing to last you got this now shake it
20:50off all right just extend out
20:52so she's over the foundation she's concentrating so hard watching the ground guy making sure her
21:00controls are good this is by far the biggest thing she's ever moved i'm gonna have you just come
21:05straight down ready everybody's clear no more no more yeah yeah great job kiddo
21:21nice job kiddo thank you
21:26oh stressful what's next kiddo i think we call it and then we will regroup in the morning snack time
21:34our snack time isn't it just dinner at this point in the day yeah i suppose
21:55everyone beat me here the crew arrived early to get a head start on replacing that rotten wood
22:02at the bottom of the walls good morning beautiful people how you feeling after the big move i must
22:08say i slept really well slept like a rock
22:15it's not just the locals that showed up to help the dads build our favorite master carpenter david drove
22:21down from minnesota what's up
22:29how are you look at you i know david's an old friend and we've done lots of builds together
22:37thank you for coming let's go have some fun
22:40okay all right i'll see you over there kid
22:41sprout spanning the skid steer so we can get number 15 off of these blocks and set down on its
22:50forever foundation all right kid get squared up with the middle of the building so just real easy
22:56start putting some straight up pressure on it upsy-daisy hey the building's moving i'm in here the
23:03building's moving he's nimble he'll be fine okay kid down real easy
23:15nice the cabin's landed and now it's time to turn it into something really special for dad
23:22while we attach it to the foundation sprouts carving out the space for the new french doors
23:27i think it's good all right dude this is your baby you cut this whole thing out we've got some
23:33choices okay okay we've got you know gingerly push rocket back and forth and
23:40pushing outside okay that's option one option two sparta kick just okay that's two or go flying
23:48sparta kick superhero landing i think option number two sparta kick awesome one two three
23:57you scared the crap out of me we did it oh wow that's a lovely deal yeah dad will like this
24:12alex hello let me set these down oh good you brought tea i brought fun stop for you i invited
24:29cappy's mom penny over to give me more intel on our client cappy's dad larry welcome in i grabbed us
24:36some blankets oh we might need those yeah it's a little chilly so where is larry is he unsuspected
24:42of our intel meeting he is unsuspecting he's working on a puzzle okay good started a new one
24:47so we're good i was hoping that maybe we could get some more stories about larry and just learning
24:52more about him one of the reasons that i think he loves short grass so much is because it reminds
25:00him of the prairie where he grew up i found you some pictures and this is where he and his sisters
25:06grew up wow it's a house and then there's some outbuildings and barns and one here that's really
25:13pretty cool okay close your eyes okay okay
25:19what is that just crazy oh my gosh i've never seen him with a mustache how old was he when this picture
25:26was taken he was probably 22. he's so handsome when he was very handsome very handsome excellent
25:34taste penny i did good i did good
25:44i'm headed home after a long day at the office
25:46the cabin's coming along great and yeah i'm really proud of that
25:55but what sticks with me more is how it brings us together as a family
26:01it's good job at this stage in life it's not just about what you're building it's about who you're
26:07building it with and who you're building it for
26:11what i want out of this project is i want my dad to have this place you know my mom said it the
26:19other day on the phone he loves that view so much and i never knew that he never told me that it
26:27really struck me and part of it was
26:32i think pride
26:33that i was able to purchase this land
26:46and build what we've built with rachel and alex but to have something that my dad is stoked about
26:52i know my dad's proud of me
27:01but what i get to do is
27:06and then center your machine right there thanks ken
27:10you're right you're gonna do one here okay perfect i love you
27:16what i get to do is model that for sprout
27:25that's what i get to do
27:30we're getting closer to transforming my dad's old cabin into this beautiful rustic retreat
27:48today we're working on the new signature feature the appalachian style long shaded porch with a slanted
27:54roof oh my gosh it looks amazing it's getting there brother we're just we're just starting to square it up
28:00though it's a little bit blustery out here right now but we're gonna conquer be careful on that
28:05slippery platform please i'm good so these guys have the posts and the beams up right now we're
28:11putting the rafters on uh so as soon as it stops raining we can start putting some sheeting on top of
28:16this and then it's roof paper and then we're ready for shingles so that'll be nice to get our
28:21not waterproof roof waterproof we got the porch roof finished just as the skies cleared perfect timing for
28:39dustin and i to start on the deck so now that we're ready to put up the deck framing it starts
28:44with cutting a notch in this post that'll accept our deck framing into it so we'll do that by taking
28:50the saw and making a bunch of curfs just a bunch of little little cuts this is something my dad taught
28:57me how to do now we're ready to take a chisel clean all that out
29:08and then we set our big deck beam into the notch oh now like we measured it
29:14while we finished the deck beams rodney has some of his guys measure trim and weld the fence panels to
29:22the posts
29:27wow it looks so good
29:33hello kiddo looks great what do you think wow question for you madame the sheetrockers specifically said
29:44that you wanted this wall to not be sheetrock that is correct okay why is it not sheetrock
29:51because it'll be stone what's stone the wall will be stone yeah
29:58cool so it'll feel more like the inside of an appalachian cabin but it's super slick i found it
30:04online it's basically that it comes in sheets and we can just and it's on the wall ah okay it's a stone
30:11veneer that makes sense well i will trust the process bro and then i have one more thing for
30:17you i found this super interesting site that has basically it's furniture but they incorporate things
30:24from a farm so they have like a tractor yeah so they have tractor parts they have stuff from like
30:29barns like the old wood very cool i'll ask if they can make something for us that's cute kid he'll
30:34like that a lot he moved off the farm when he was your age um i think he sort of always missed
30:40that hello hello hi mama what are you doing oh my goodness are you that level of retirement mom you're
30:47just walking around with an oil lamp in the middle of the day what is this from that was grandma cap's
30:52oil lamp wow there you go i just found it and went hey that'd be cool that would be cool in here yeah
31:00what else you got in your bag well i have a treat for alex i'm giving it to her i told you listen
31:06alex is busy um she's got things to do today no no no no watch yourself told you there for alex
31:17you know we were looking for stuff the other day while i found more stuff in the intro
31:21i'm so excited yes yeah because we know we've never seen larry without his hat
31:25oh but this is an actual clean one there you go all right it'll be good for you well this is the
31:33family brand yeah dad's family branded their cattle on the farm with those initials so and that was
31:39actually cap and serby okay grandpa cap married cleo serby so there you go that's super cool stack
31:47them on top and most importantly i finally found one yay you did not what are the odds is the actual
31:57key to 15. that is bananas that you found that i was so excited that is so cool mom yeah all right
32:06i'll walk you back to your truck mama okay and i'll stay here and enjoy just keep working yes working
32:11hard don't eat all those cookies however many you want great i'm definitely eating all of the cookies
32:31so i'm headed out to short grass this morning
32:35yesterday we gave 15 a facelift wrapping it in brand new siding made from tough recycled
32:41materials so this is a product that'll outlive me and probably outlive sprouts and then wren gave
32:48it a fresh coat of paint meanwhile david and i took on the decking look at this view that's pretty
32:55awesome i picked up a slick new trick from the master himself about spacing out the screw holes
33:02this is old bull young bull stuff so instead of measuring them david drilled two holes in his speed
33:08square so then every time when he sets it down the holes line up and he just drills through the holes
33:15that is genius together we're kind of awesome you know love it
33:23i know sprout spent most of the day yesterday painting the inside so i'm excited to see the
33:28color on the wall she also has a plan for stone siding on one of the walls so i've used stone siding
33:34on the outside of the buildings like the she shed we built for kaylee but never thought to put it on
33:38the inside so i'm gonna learn something new today which is fun super excited that the weather it's
33:43a gorgeous day today uh yeah so today's gonna be a big day oh hey kiddo hi look at this pink color
33:51i know right it turned out really nicely awesome so stone siding stone siding like i love this color but
33:58it's just pretty flat right now sure and how the rocks are around here it would be a really nice tie
34:04in into the land here but also it would just help add some depth and texture yeah i'm excited to see
34:10it i think it's cool it's got that sort of cabin feel but with a little modern twist i love it i suppose
34:15i have to haul all these pieces in here don't i yep i'm starting to realize that the only reason
34:20i'm here this morning is to haul heavy things inside so today i'm the queen's mule
34:24happy to do it
34:33thank you i'll just tack that up right here
34:45i think now that we have our first layer we can just check them make sure that we're level and then
34:50we can just stack up our layers it's like a very not tasty cake it's gonna look cool kid yeah
35:06hey guys oh that's what i got i know you got what is this it's my furniture piece yeah let's open it
35:20oh my goodness oh look how pretty it is yeah it's a table so what's the story behind this piece well
35:27it's from that couple in upstate new york who make furniture out of things from a farm this table is
35:33made from an old 1946 tractor and 100 year old silo wood 1946 that was the year dad was born yeah nice
35:41kid he's gonna love this i think it'll be a great table for all of his puzzles oh yes larry and his
35:49puzzles if we could move this over there so we can unpack it and then we're out of our workspace yep
35:54i got it man yes please thank you i'm on it
36:01while sprout and i put the finishing touches on the inside ruby and tanner
36:06are up top tackling the roof we're using a composite shingle designed to look like classic slate
36:12but tough enough to handle whatever wild weather south dakota throws at us
36:17hey can you believe though we did this whole roof and we didn't smash any fingers
36:20yet we're so close so close
36:26i'm watching out for my own fingers as i get this heavy sheet steel orchard gate into position
36:32it's been modified with a few special mementos when i had it on the bench i was thinking about
36:37dad and i wanted to put into a couple things that just made me think of him so i did a little sunshine
36:42on the top there and then this old insulator here from a farm he told a story when he was a kid
36:48the electrical service came through and he remembers getting power in the house that was
36:53a really big deal and this is just a farrier's rasp or a woodworking rasp and a rake because he grew
36:58up on a farm i thought that was kind of fun the next step is actually to weld the hinges to the gate
37:04itself and to the fence post
37:16well let's test it all right ready oh there we go
37:21easy access for larry but keep deer and dustin out
37:40with all the heavy lifting behind us i have just enough time to decorate number 15 with some
37:46personal touches that'll mean a lot to cappy's dad larry this table looks really good i'm really
37:55happy that we got the custom order in and it's the perfect spot to put some photos i got from cappy's
38:00mom that cappy and his dad have never seen i think that cappy and larry will love all of the surprises
38:06i snuck in here hey kiddo hi oh my gosh that looks so nice dude don't come too close stop there
38:18it's supposed to be a surprise for me for larry for both of you well cool well i was gonna come
38:24say hi and give you a hug but i'm gonna go get mom and dad how about that okay okay
38:31all aboard the larry surprise express
38:33you're gonna have the urge to look up but don't look up you've got to promise not to look
38:41how's that and we're gonna say peekaboo so alex has worked very hard i went to see her
38:47and she told me i wasn't allowed to come in oh so i have not seen the inside of this
38:51well okay so i get to be surprised with you and dad she said she had some special things for larry
38:56eyes still closed
39:06kids coming down too oh she's coming oh good
39:10hello i'm just looking for you now we're here because you've always said that you love this view
39:16but the thing i really want to show you is behind us dad i want you to think about the first time you
39:21saw this building you were sprout's age it was a tool shed and then in 85 you and mom bought the
39:27motel and then you and i remodeled it and then the last time you saw it was in 94 when you sold the
39:34motel so it looks a little different okay ready kid one two three oh my god
39:51that's sweet that's beautiful is that a good sitting porch dad it's beautiful you moved it
39:57we turned it perfect so we can see the view oh my god and then what we wanted was to bring back the
40:05fruit trees that we had at the old motel so we decided to put this beautiful seven foot tall orchard
40:11fence around it to protect all the fruit trees oh my gosh what do you think beautiful that's a long
40:18waste my tool shed well kid do you want to show them the inside yes i would like that okay
40:25all right so i haven't seen this either come on in oh my gosh
40:45that's my other favorite picture well these are some of my favorite picture of all you boys
40:58as we can see this was definitely a big undertaking we originally stripped out the inside and we took
41:04out all the drywall and all the furniture all the windows and then we worked our way from the outside
41:09and we went to the outside and we went to the outside and we went to the outside and we went to the outside
41:14and then up here i have some pictures of larry in his air force days oh my god that's quite the mustache
41:21dad this picture was taken in england yeah and uh wow it was in the military newspaper oh my gosh
41:31you're very handsome what is this so there's a company that makes furniture out of old farm pieces
41:41and wood from barns and i know how much you like these green tractors do you want to know what year
41:481950 nope it's a 1946. oh my gosh yes the model of tractor that was the year of your birthday oh my gosh
41:56that's crazy i wanted this space to be a time capsule for all of the stories that you told me
42:02and you told kathy because they deserve to be showcased yeah well you want to go sit in the rocking
42:07chair dad yep yeah there's a sunny one for you and a shady one for me it's perfect go okay i think a
42:14lot of things in my life that i've done is hugely because of watching what my dad did and the man he
42:20taught me to be perfect the multi-generational project started with my grandpa cap and then my dad
42:28and then me and now sprout four generations have touched this building and this is its new home
42:37did you think 62 years ago when you saw this as a tool shed you'd be sitting here now
42:41not even in the wildest dreams this view is perfect son i'm glad you like it dad
