00:01Myanmar's junta announced yesterday the ejection of East Timor's top representative in the
00:06country after a rights group said Dili had opened a legal case against the military for
00:11war crimes.
00:12The nation is currently defending itself from prosecution at the International Court of
00:17Justice over allegations of genocide against the mostly Muslim Rohingya minority.
00:22However, the Chin Human Rights Organization said this month, East Timor has opened its
00:27own case against the junta for both war crimes and crimes against humanity, AFP reported.
00:33The CHRO said a senior Timor Reeves prosecutor has been appointed to look into the criminal
00:39file presented by the organization, with the junta later calling the appointment a great
00:44disappointment.
00:45It said East Timor's charge d'affaires had been summoned on Friday and was given a week
00:50to leave Myanmar.
00:51According to the CHRO, its case against the junta includes irrefutable evidence of gang
00:56rape, a massacre of 10 people, the slaughter of religious officials, and a hospital airstrike.
01:03The junta statement accused East Timor of violating ASEAN charter articles that underscored the
01:08importance of upholding respect for sovereignty and non-interference.
