00:30Six times as a starter.
00:32This team world is incredible.
00:34Elprin Shingun, back-to-back years, named an all-star.
00:39And Stephen Curry will not participate, but still here,
00:43rooting on all of his fellow players.
00:45Victor Wimbenyama told you that team world was going to be rock solid.
00:49First-time starter.
00:50And all the legends are in the building already.
00:5212-time all-star Oscar Robertson.
00:56We've got the three-point contest, a slam dunk contest,
00:59shooting stars back this year.
01:01It is NBA All-Star Saturday live from Hollywood.
01:09Welcome to NBA Showtime, presented by State Farm.
01:13Here's your host, Ahmed Farid.
01:15It is now official inside the Intuit Dome on NBA All-Star Saturday.
01:22NBA Showtime has entered the chat.
01:25Ahmed Farid here with the Hall of Famers, Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter,
01:28Carmelo, Anthony, along with a first-time all-star in Jalen Johnson.
01:34So glad you're with us today.
01:35Jalen, so glad you're with us.
01:36One of two players in the NBA who leads his team in total points, rebounds, and assists.
01:43Jalen, first-time all-star.
01:44What was the first thing you guys said when he walked up here?
01:47About 6'10".
01:48Right?
01:49About 6'10".
01:49We started sizing him up over here, baby.
01:52He grew since that last measurement.
01:58First-time all-star.
01:59How does it feel so far?
02:00It feels great.
02:01Just being out here, experiencing all this.
02:03I'm just taking it all in.
02:05Enjoying the moment and just really embracing everything.
02:09Is this a moment for you to fall in love with this weekend,
02:14or is this a moment for you to recognize, like, I'm here to belong
02:17and I should be here every single year?
02:20For sure.
02:21That's a mindset.
02:22You know, when you come into a situation like this, man,
02:24you want to continue to put your name out there,
02:27and I got a chance to do that tomorrow in the game.
02:29I know this is your first one,
02:31but what are you most looking forward to this weekend?
02:34Just competing.
02:35Being in an all-star game, obviously you got the OGs,
02:38who I grew up watching.
02:39You got the Steves, KD, Brian, like, all those guys.
02:42So me being in the game with them, I think it's going to be dope.
02:45So I'm going to be vulnerable right here on this set real quick.
02:48My first all-star weekend was 2001 with my cousin.
02:52I was really, really nervous in that game.
02:55How do you feel right now on the set?
02:56I know you're not nervous right now, but how do you feel on the set right now?
02:59I feel good.
03:00I'm a little nervous standing next to three legends right there.
03:02But it's cool, though.
03:05Nah, but all the nerves, you know, in game time, y'all know, once the ball tip off,
03:09it's game time.
03:11So I'm sure the nerves will set up by then.
03:13You were watching on TV when you heard when we called your name.
03:18Tell the world the feeling, the initial feeling when you heard that.
03:22I just felt like the work was working.
03:25So that's, like, the ultimate feeling when you put in all the work during the summer,
03:30the long nights, early mornings, like, just continue to stack them days.
03:34And then when y'all called my name, it felt worth it.
03:37And I had the phone call with him talking about some other things.
03:40But the one thing I said to you was what?
03:42It must be gratifying with the year you had prior to.
03:46Absolutely.
03:46You go down with injury when we all felt that he was going to be an all-star.
03:50The work you put in to where you are today, you should be proud of yourself.
03:53Yeah.
03:54I appreciate that.
03:55Thank you.
03:55So, Jalen, what is that work?
03:57Because each of the last four years, your numbers have increased.
03:59You've gotten better each of the last four.
04:02So what is it?
04:02What has helped you the most take that next step?
04:04I think just staying open-minded when I'm in the gym working out.
04:08Understanding that I don't want any limits on my game.
04:10Understanding that I want to be the best version of myself.
04:13And I don't know what that looks like,
04:15but I know I don't want it to be capped off at a ceiling.
04:18So I just want to continue to work and continue to get better.
04:20I like this, y'all fella.
04:22I like where you're going.
04:23I want to keep asking the questions out there.
04:25On the more, you know, playful side,
04:27what is it like being around the guys who's been here over and over and over again
04:33as a part of this weekend, who's a staple of this weekend,
04:35and now you're coming as the young boy, as the young man, as the rookie.
04:40And just being in the locker room, being in practice,
04:42what has it been like for you?
04:43I mean, it's cool.
04:44Just seeing these guys, I definitely got to start picking their brain more,
04:48you know, see what they did to consistently make it, you know.
04:52You know, nine consecutive years, whatever it looks like,
04:54like not taking a year off
04:56and just understanding the mentality that these guys got,
04:58especially with the teams and the success they have.
05:01So I just want to continue to stay open-minded with all that.
05:05The one thing I can say is that, yeah, when you're in that locker room,
05:08take something away from what you see in that locker room
05:11or the mentality you work at, the approach,
05:14or how they run their team or how they run, you know, they operate
05:18because now it's your team.
05:20How they prepare it.
05:21Yeah, exactly.
05:21You can steal everything from that locker room.
05:23Because you get this opportunity now to be the face of the franchise,
05:28but it comes with a lot of pressure.
05:29It comes with a lot of responsibility.
05:31We've talked about that.
05:32So learn how guys handle that
05:34and continue to ask those questions like you've done.
05:36No, for sure.
05:37We'll do them.
05:38Is there a strategy or expectation for you out of this weekend?
05:41I wouldn't say no.
05:43Yeah, I'm just here having fun, but also competing
05:46and just wanting to make the most out of it at the same time.
05:48So, yeah, we'll see you in the Kia Shooting Stars Challenge.
05:51We've got to look at some of the rules for this contest.
05:53You're going to be on Team Cameron with Corey Maggette and Khan Canipo.
05:57Have you guys talked about strategy?
05:59What's Team Cameron here?
06:00Huh?
06:00What is Team Cameron?
06:01Cameron?
06:02Yeah.
06:02What does that mean?
06:03Vince doesn't recognize Team Cameron.
06:04I don't recognize that.
06:05Sorry.
06:05He doesn't recognize that team.
06:07You could have gotten your own team.
06:08Oh, Lord, I get it.
06:09Put Corey in mid-range.
06:11Put Corey in mid-range.
06:12Yeah.
06:12What's the strategy?
06:14Have you guys talked about it?
06:15All I know, me, we talked about it,
06:17but Khan taking a big shot.
06:20I think you all have to take a shot that you can do that.
06:25Yeah, no, but we're going to figure it out.
06:26We're going to come away with a win.
06:28Yeah.
06:28Yeah.
06:29All right.
06:29All right.
06:29You heard it here first, too.
06:32Jalen, I think the guy's hit on it, too.
06:34He's been talking up the Atlanta Hawks
06:36since we started doing rehearsals back in the day.
06:38You guys are currently 10th right now.
06:40Do you feel like, ever since the trade of Trae Young,
06:43like this second half of the season
06:46is a launching pad for you and this team?
06:48How are you attacking it?
06:49Yeah, I think, especially just for us as a group,
06:52our mentality is just take it one day at a time.
06:54Obviously, you know, we had ups and downs,
06:56but I know what it's going to take.
07:00I'm ready for it.
07:01I'm ready for the challenges that it may present,
07:03and so is my team.
07:03So we just got to continue to focus day by day
07:06and just get after it.
07:08Yes, Jalen, please focus, because I had high hopes
07:11for Atlanta Hawks this year.
07:13Second half, I look forward to you guys doing major things.
07:16We're going to be back, for sure.
07:17And the next time we talk to Jalen,
07:19he's going to be maybe 6'11", potentially 7'4".
07:22He's good right here.
07:23He's good.
07:24Okay, all right, stop growing.
07:26Jalen, thanks for stopping by.
07:27Yes, sir.
07:28No, appreciate you, John.
07:28Congratulations.
07:29Yes, sir.
07:30So here is the competition,
07:31getting you ready for a loaded All-Star Saturday
07:33in the Intuit Dome.
07:34We're going to see Jalen Johnson, Team Cameron,
07:36and the Kia shooting stars later.
07:38Also going to see some high flyers.
07:40The AT&T Slam Dunk Contest.
07:41The opening event, though,
07:43the State Farm Three-Point Contest,
07:45featuring star Tyrese Maxey,
07:48who is waiting by patiently inside here
07:50at the Intuit Dome,
07:51about 35 minutes before the activities really start.
07:54Tyrese, head on up.
07:56The Hall of Famers welcome you with open arms.
07:58What I told you.
08:04What I told you.
08:05What I tell you we're doing today.
08:07What we're doing today.
08:12Send them on, baby.
08:15Send them on, baby.
08:18Send them on.
08:19Hey.
08:20Two in a row.
08:21You feel me?
08:21I told you I'd win it.
08:23Told you he's going to win it now.
08:24Told you.
08:24Jay Edgecombe called a shot.
08:28He told you he was going to win it.
08:29He did.
08:30He did.
08:30He did in Philly.
08:32In Philly.
08:32In the rising star.
08:33He was the MVP of that game.
08:34You see his teammate Tyrese Maxey celebrating win.
08:36Your guy showed up last night.
08:38What did you think of him?
08:39Honestly, I would be surprised if he didn't show up.
08:42That's the crazy part about it, man.
08:43That's how good he's been.
08:44That's how mature he is.
08:45And I'm just happy I got to see it live in person.
08:48I wasn't going to let him not show up because of his confidence.
08:51And you guys talked to nauseam about him and his maturation and his willingness to listen
08:57and learn.
08:58And I told him our first couple of points against you guys.
09:03We were fooling around.
09:04We looked a little lackadaisical.
09:05I looked at him.
09:06I said, turn up.
09:07Get your team right.
09:08He said, say less.
09:09Right, right.
09:10That's what we said.
09:10What happened after say less?
09:13I mean, we're bonkers.
09:15I don't like he had you acting out of character.
09:19No, I ain't like that.
09:20He was out of character.
09:21There he was.
09:21I'm telling you.
09:22Me?
09:22You?
09:23Nah, you know, in between the lines, you know I get it.
09:26Go ahead.
09:27So, Tyrese, when you found out you were an all-star, who told you?
09:31Who told you first?
09:33Well, I was taking a nap.
09:35Okay.
09:35I was taking a nap.
09:36You weren't watching us.
09:37Cool, cool, cool, cool.
09:38I was taking a nap.
09:40And then BJ called me.
09:42My mom called me.
09:43Everybody was positive.
09:46I was trying to just take my nap because we had a game lit on that day.
09:49But I appreciate them for the love.
09:51You're like a silent assassin out there on the court.
09:53You got this smile thing going.
09:55You know what I mean?
09:56You got this thing.
09:57Like, I don't even.
09:58It's effortless to me.
09:59But crunch time, you turn it up in crunch time.
10:02Yep.
10:02What is the mentality?
10:03Am I trying to be the fastest guy on the court?
10:06Am I trying to close the game out?
10:07Like, what am I trying to do?
10:08What is Tyrese thinking in crunch time?
10:10So, in crunch time, for me, I got to slow the game down.
10:12You know what I mean?
10:13I got to get the best possible shot available.
10:15Not just for myself, but for my teammates as well.
10:17The ball will probably be in my hands, not just to score,
10:20but to create a great opportunity and create a great advantage for us.
10:23And for me, I just like to win.
10:24Whatever it takes.
10:25If it's the right pass, they double-team me, I'll swing it to one of my teammates.
10:28Or if it's me getting a shot or me throwing the ball to a big fella
10:31and making everybody get out of the way.
10:33Ty, I want to tap into the mindset a little bit.
10:35You guys, on paper, have a great team, great playoff team.
10:40Is it frustrating to you with the inconsistency of the different lineups
10:44you're playing with in the regular season?
10:46I wouldn't call it frustrating.
10:47For me, I would more call it like it's a challenge.
10:50It's a challenge that we have to accept as a group and as an organization.
10:54And we want to be healthy when it really, really matters.
10:56And I think the biggest thing for us is, like, in the past,
10:59my last five years with the team was we couldn't win without Joel.
11:01And when he wasn't on the court, we just couldn't win basketball games.
11:04Now we find a way to win some of those basketball games.
11:07That's going to help us in the long run.
11:09How have they found a way to win basketball games?
11:12We just figured it out, man.
11:15Be careful with it, my friend.
11:16We just figured it out.
11:17This is All-Star Weekend.
11:19The vibes are right.
11:20What are you trying to take from All-Star Weekend?
11:22And what are you trying to show or prove?
11:24If you feel like you have something to prove still.
11:26I mean, tonight is Saturday.
11:28I want to go out here and play on the show
11:29and try to win a three-point competition.
11:31Whenever I see this, the thing with me is,
11:33OG Mello said I smile a lot, and I do smile a lot,
11:36but when I get inside those teams, those lines,
11:41I'm trying to win, man.
11:42I ain't trying to do that out there.
11:43We friends, we cool, but I'm trying to win.
11:46So trying to win tonight, what does that take?
11:49Have you talked to anyone who has done the three-point contest before?
11:52Do you have a strategy?
11:53Do you have a frame of mind?
11:54I have a little strategy in the back of my mind.
11:56I tried to mess with D-Book, not D-Book, but Dame a little bit.
12:00He's a two-time champion.
12:01I mean, I'm not giving you none of my secrets.
12:03I said, that's just, that's unbelievable.
12:05But when I first got the lead, it was,
12:07I'm your young fella and all that,
12:08and now you don't want to give me no stuff.
12:10Hey, so, Ty, we got to ask you this.
12:13Last night, them young boys put on the show.
12:15Have a conversation around All-Star game.
12:18Has there been any talks amongst you guys about this?
12:21A little.
12:22A few.
12:22I think you're going to see some competitive nature go out there.
12:26I mean, the way the teams are set up, like, for me personally,
12:29I don't want the OG saying,
12:31I want to hear Kevin Durant's mouth not come to Houston
12:33and say that he bust my behind.
12:35I ain't trying to hear all that nonsense.
12:36You know what I'm saying?
12:37I want to hear Donald Mitchell and Jalen Burson.
12:39So, for me, I'm going to go out there and compete, man.
12:41I'm going to go out there.
12:41I know Scottie will.
12:42I know a couple guys will.
12:44So, that's the plan.
12:44So, we look forward to a competitive game tomorrow.
12:49Yeah, a few of them.
12:49Not even what we saw last year.
12:51No, no, no, no, no.
12:52I can't speak on last year.
12:53I didn't get away.
12:54I like that.
12:54We can't either.
12:56We wasn't here last year.
12:56I can't speak on last year.
12:57I can't speak on it.
12:58I have a question for you.
13:00This is All-Star weekend, right?
13:03We all know what this really means and truly means.
13:06Is this somebody out there that you're looking like,
13:08I can't wait to get him one-on-one out there?
13:10Like, I want him in a one-on-one situation on the court.
13:14You know what?
13:16Honestly, maybe like Wimby.
13:18Like, if I got to switch on Wimby and I had the ball,
13:20I think that would be pretty fun.
13:22You know, I got to play with him one-on-one against him
13:23before he got in the lead.
13:25So, this would be cool.
13:25Like, this is like a, you know, whole full circle moment
13:27of us playing in an All-Star game.
13:29But is this a clear out?
13:30Is this hold up?
13:31Get everybody out the way.
13:32If I get Wimby, if I get Wimby, everybody out there is.
13:35I'm going to need a lot of space.
13:37I'm going to need a lot of space.
13:40You got to take it back to the park.
13:41I mean, you got to do the signal.
13:43Get her out.
13:44We want to see that.
13:45Wins.
13:46Wins for sure.
13:46Wins.
13:47Well, you guys were running some plays.
13:49You guys had some sets.
13:50It looked like you were running yesterday.
13:51We're trying to win.
13:52Who knows?
13:52I mean, maybe.
13:53How do you think you guys play?
13:54What's your strong suit on USA Stars?
13:57Well, we got Cade Cunningham.
13:59You know, he's a great point guard.
14:00So I'm going to play off the ball.
14:01I'm going to play off Cade.
14:02We got some.
14:03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:03I'm going to get some catch and shoot threes.
14:06Play the right way.
14:06Pick up full court.
14:07You know, JB, they got bad boys pissing basketball over there.
14:10So I'm going to do whatever it takes not to get in trouble.
14:13I just need to keep them on my side.
14:16Good strategy.
14:17All right.
14:18Shooting threes tomorrow.
14:19Shooting threes tonight.
14:20Good luck in the three-point contest.
14:21Yes, sir.
14:22Yes, sir.
14:22Appreciate y'all having me.
14:23Y'all look real nice up here.

15:46One-time Olympic gold medalist.
15:48You were not nothing.
15:50Hey, man.
15:512004, they told me it was going to be scuba divers swimming under this ship.
15:55That's true.
15:56You opted out.
15:57I'm good.
15:57You opted out.
15:58I'm good.
15:58Sydney, have you been to an All-Star event before?
16:03Is this my first time?
16:04What do you think so far?
16:05It's amazing.
16:06Excited to be here.
16:06That's what the NBA said?
16:08I do.
16:08I'm just, I'm normally at home watching, but you guys invited me.
16:11As long as you're watching.
16:13Yes.
16:13Yeah, we allow that as well.
16:15All right.
16:15So much, you know, buzz in L.A. right now.
16:18Of course, we've got the Milan Cortina Olympics going on right now.
16:21Summer Games coming back here to the U.S. States, the U.S. soil for the first time since
16:25Atlanta in 1996.
16:26How much buzz can you feel in the Olympic community already with that?
16:30This is the moment, I feel like, for so many sports, especially track and field.
16:34We have so many stars, and so being able to bring it back to the States, this is what
16:38everyone's talking about.
16:39You can feel it.
16:40You can hear it.
16:41And I'm excited to hopefully be there and represent our country.
16:43All right.
16:44When people look back on your career, what do you want them to say that you changed about
16:48your sport?
16:49I want them to see that there's no bounds and no limits.
16:52We've been able to break the world record six times so far.
16:54We have the American record in the 400.
16:56And there's still so much to go.
16:58I'm currently pregnant with our first child.
17:00Congratulations.
17:01Breaking news, baby.
17:04First one?
17:05First one.
17:06Congratulations.
17:06Thank you.
17:07So that's going to be a new hurdle coming off of that and coming back for L.A.
17:10So I'm excited to come back from that and be able to see what we can do.
17:15Now, the Olympic vibe is one thing.
17:18We all got the opportunity to experience that.
17:20You see the crowd is going crazy here.
17:23Did you ever play basketball growing up?
17:25I did play basketball growing up.
17:26And if you go to my Instagram, I'm better at trick shots than I am, like, playing a full-on game.
17:31But I love basketball.
17:32I love watching it.
17:33Okay, great.
17:34Now, other than you, I'm the fastest one on this panel.
17:37I don't know you like that.
17:42But I cannot believe you just judged me.
17:45No, I'm just seeing the reactions to your statement.
17:47I just laughed.
17:48I just laughed.
17:49That's it.
17:50I ran a 4-4.
17:51I ran a 4-3.
17:52Ran.
17:53Ran.
17:53Past 10.
17:54Past 10.
17:55So, as a sprinter, are you born with speed, or how do you get to that level of Olympic speed?
18:03Yeah, man.
18:03I think there's God-given talent, and then there's hard work.
18:06I think those that are the best have both.
18:08And I love to work hard, but I also think that God's given me a gift, and I just try to use it to the best of my ability.
18:14So, the guys that are the sprinters that are not blessed with that talent, can they be the best?
18:21As long as those who have the talent aren't working hard enough, yes.
18:26So, you have been able to maintain a high level for a long time, and this is another Olympic cycle you're going into with other challenges.
18:34These are all athletes who have, you guys did the same thing.
18:37You were able to maintain a high level.
18:38What is the key to that as your body ages and gets older to continuing to perform and exceed what you did when you were young?
18:45Yeah, honestly, I think the little things matter, as I'm sure they know.
18:49You know, nutrition, recovery, all the little things that you take for granted when you're 16.
18:52That was when I did my first Olympics.
18:54I'm 26 now, so not that that's old, but you definitely start to feel the changes.
18:59And like I said, it's the inches.
19:01It's the milliseconds for us.
19:02All right.
19:02You're also on the L.A. Athletes Commission, which is a group of Olympians and Paralympians trying to get together.
19:08What is the goal?
19:10What are you trying to accomplish in two years?
19:12The best Olympic games we can have.
19:14I think L.A. is the perfect place.
19:16It's the perfect time.
19:17And so, for me, it's giving the athletes voice of what we're looking for to be able to be the best we can be.
19:22And I hope that we can deliver that.
19:24Track star, but maybe could have been a basketball player because we've been scouring on your Instagram.
19:30Oh, trick shot.
19:31What's going on?
19:32I do have one more question.
19:38The question is, how many takes, though?
19:41Honestly, that was probably like 20.
19:4420?
19:45Yeah, but that was 10 years ago.
19:46Two for 20.
19:47Two out of 20.
19:48Yeah, that's not bad.
19:49I do have one question.
19:51Preparation.
19:52Right before the game, we all get into our mode.
19:54Right before the gun has started, you're getting yourself situated, getting locked in.
19:58And how do you get yourself in your mode and locked in on the task at hand?
20:03Some people like to do the gimmicks and games and jump around.
20:06That ain't me.
20:07I'm locked in.
20:07I'm focused on what I got to do.
20:09I'm repeating to myself what I have to do.
20:11I think people are scared of me because of that.
20:12But I'm telling myself, God's got you.
20:15And repeating the race plan over and over.
20:16Is it you running your race before the race happens?
20:19100%.
20:19Nice.
20:20That's good mindset.
20:21It's intimidating out there when you see her like that.
20:24About to get on her mark, about to go.
20:26Leave her alone.
20:27Leave her alone.
20:28You don't need to be intimidated this weekend.
20:30No, not at all.
20:30Not at all.
20:31Enjoy living this weekend.
20:32I'm friendly here.

37:00ДИНАМИЧНАЯ МУЗЫКА
37:00ДИНАМИЧНАЯ МУЗЫКА
37:01ДИНАМИЧНАЯ МУЗЫКА
37:01ДИНАМИЧНАЯ МУЗЫКА
37:01For most, it's a hindrance.
37:04It put things out of reach.
37:06But for a select few, distance is an opportunity,
37:11an imaginary obstacle erased by the players
37:14who honed their craft, perfected their delivery,
37:17and hit their marks when it mattered most.
37:21Tonight, this ensemble cast will have their moment.
37:25They will embrace the distance,
37:27bring victory near to their chest,
37:30and just maybe win the industry's top prize.
37:35With cameras rolling, an audience of millions,
37:38they'll come into sharp focus.
37:41Here are the eight nominees
37:42for the 2026 State Farm Three-Point Contest Champion.

39:52there will be a winner.
39:55We have the lights.
39:57We have the cameras.
40:00All that remains is the action.
40:02So let's get to it!
40:07That's right, Queen Latifah, let's get right to it.
40:09Eight players compete in a two-round time-shooting competition.
40:12Four racks with four regular balls and one money ball.
40:15And then there's the one rack with all money balls,
40:17and the players can place it in any of the five spots that they choose.
40:20Two from-the-logo shots that are worth three points each.
40:23Top three advance.
40:25To the final round of the State Farm three-point contest.
40:28This is a look at what we're going to see.
40:30You see, in this one, the money rack is at the top of the key.
40:32You can go to any of those five spots based on where you want to go.
40:35And those from-the-logo shots are critical.
40:37We know guys like Damian Lillard have made those deep balls real famous in NBA circles.
40:42So glad you could join us for All-Star Saturday.
40:44Welcome courtside, no eagle, couple of sharpshooters.
40:47The Hall of Famer Reggie Miller, three-time six-man of the year,

40:53Guys, we're here.
40:53Reggie, you've called this the premier event.
40:56We're getting kicked off the right way with a three-point competition.
40:58It's always good to find out who is the top gung slinger in the NBA.
41:03And there's bragging rights.
41:05And we've got juice, Jamal, in this with Damian Lillard coming back.
41:09Hasn't played all season because of the Achilles chair.
41:12Can he reclaim?
41:13Two-time champ.
41:15Can he reclaim it?
41:16And he has that look in his eye right now.
41:18No, I was watching him.
41:18He was looking like a boxer about to come out to the ring.
41:21He's focused.
41:22He's ready.
41:23Dame, Dallas, maybe Dame time tonight.
41:25I don't know.
41:25We're going to find out real quick because he's standing by with Zora Stevenson.
41:29Dame, you're not new to this.
41:30Two-time three-point contest champion.
41:33But the circumstances this time are different.
41:35You haven't played all season, coming off the injury.
41:37Why did you feel like you were ready for this?
41:38I just know I'm ready.
41:41You know, I think, obviously, coming back from an injury, it was almost a year ago now.
41:48And since that day, you know, I've been rehabbing.
41:51I've been training.
41:51I've been on the court for months now.
41:54So I feel great.
41:55I've been doing a lot of shooting.
41:56I think if there's anything I could do great right now is to shoot the ball.
42:00And it's an opportunity to compete.
42:02You know, feel a little bit of pressure.
42:03So I'm excited about it.
42:04But over the years, what have you found is the key to winning this event?
42:08Honestly, I think the key for me personally is not overdoing it.
42:12You know, not trying to practice and go through it a bunch of times.
42:14Just come out.
42:15I'm a shooter.
42:17I've got to come out and let it fly and just know that's what it is and just win another one.
42:21You did the signal.
42:22Dame time is upon us?
42:23It's upon us.
42:24Ashley is with Jamal Murray.
42:27All right, Jamal, your first All-Star Game selection.
42:29You're kicking off the weekend with your first three-point competition.
42:32How does it feel just being here and be able to showcase this part of your game?
42:36I love it.
42:37I'm excited for this.
42:38You know, it's the best shooters in the world.
42:39Trying to shoot out, see who's going to make the most shots.
42:41So I'm blessed to be in that conversation.
42:43I'm sure you've watched a ton of these competitions before.
42:45Talk me through your strategy.
42:47Is it about the pace?
42:47Is it about the money ball?
42:48What you got?
42:49It's a little everything.
42:50I think a good start matters.
42:51The money ball obviously matters.
42:53But you got to be able to get through the rack, you know what I'm saying, without chipping up.
42:58So I got to also remember that they got a three-bow, the four-point line shot, so you can't screw up.
43:03Jamal, best of luck.
43:04Good luck out there and have fun.
43:06Appreciate it.
43:06Thank you.
43:06Noah.
43:07All right, Ashley, let's take a look.
43:08It's a nice DraftKings player tracker.
43:10DraftKings is the number one sportsbook for live betting.
43:13To get in on the action, download the app and use promo code DUNK when you sign up.
43:19We are just about set for the State Farm three-point contest.
43:24And new in this year's contest are the State Farm from the Logo shots.
43:27And with every make from the logo, it means $15,000 is donated by the good neighbors at State Farm for Habitat for Humanity.
43:36Well, we got to see the entire field get introduced.
43:39Who are you guys going with as we get the day kicked off?
43:42It's easy for me to jump on what everyone is assuming is going to happen with Damian Lillard being back in this competition.
43:51But I'm going for the young gun, the rookie, Khan Knipple.
43:56If there's a guy that can just flat out shoot the basketball, he is it.
44:01So he is my pick, Jamal.
44:02I'm going with Dane, and part of the reason he's a champion in this event, but the fact that he knows he's an all-star player, but he can't play in the all-star game.
44:11He's not back playing yet.
44:12This is going to be his game.
44:14He is going to put on an absolute show tonight.
44:16Today.
44:17I should say today now, right?
44:18Yeah, all-star Saturday.
44:19All-star Saturday.
44:20And you know what?
44:21I'm not off the hood.
44:23I am going to go off the beaten path.
44:26I'm going to say Jamal Murray.
44:27Okay.
44:28The first-time all-star.
44:29Here's the thing about Jamal Murray.
44:31This is a guy who meditates every day.
44:33This is a guy whose heartbeat has notoriously known to be slower than everybody else on the court.
44:38He is built for this moment.
44:39Just look how calm he was in that interview with Ashley.
44:41He's ready.
44:43But what scared me in that interview is he said, I've got to remember to do the State Farm three-point show.
44:51He already, he's showing a little bit of cracks just from that interview.
44:56Or he's just trying to take you off the set.
44:59No, I wish you could sit next to me because the energy Reg has right now.
45:02He's over here.
45:04He wants to get out there right now and still brewing.
45:07Hey, Jamal, something that's interesting.
45:10This event is starting at around 2.15, 2.30.
45:14Yes.
45:14These guys aren't used to it.
45:15Usually this event starts at 7 o'clock at night.
45:18Yes, yes.
45:18Is that going to be something that could hinder some of these guys?
45:22It could.
45:22They've got to make it put in the summertime mode.
45:24Would they just play in the afternoon and get ready to go?
45:26What do you think, Noah?
45:27Yeah, I mean, it feels like, especially out in L.A., all those runs, it feels like out here.
45:30Yes, yes.
45:30You have some familiarity there.
45:33To your point, we're going to see how the experience versus the inexperience of this event.
45:37Knipple's going to go first.
45:38Which I like.
45:39You like that?
45:39You like that.
45:40I like it because he can set the tone for the event.
45:42Here is his rack.
45:43So he put the money ball rack at the corner.
45:45Yes.
45:46That's what you would do?
45:47That's what I would do.
45:47Now, is he starting with the money rack or will he be finishing with the money rack?
45:52I believe he's going to finish with the money rack.
45:54That's great because he'll be nice and warmed up.
45:56Get a rhythm.
45:57Get a rhythm and finish strong.
45:59So that's what Khan is hoping here.
46:02Reg, you said you were going to go wing for your right wing.
46:05If you put the money rack, you go right wing and you would go corner.
46:07I'll go corner.
46:08Then you would go same corner on the end, right?
46:10Same corner.
46:10You said top.
46:11Here we go.
46:11Here we go.
46:12All right.
46:12Here's the rookie, Khan Knipple.
46:14He's been one of the most impressive rookies in all the NBA this year.
46:17Leading the rookie class in total points entering All-Star Weekend.
46:22Solid start with four on that first rack.
46:25And look, he's not using a lot of legs when he's shooting.
46:29So this is a lot of upper body from Khan.
46:32So Reg, tell us why that's important for this competition.
46:35He's got to fly for the logo.
46:36You don't want to tire yourself out.
46:38If you're a leg shooter, the longer the event goes, the more tired you're going to get.
46:43So if you can use your upper body and your wrists and elbows, it just helps out.
46:49That's just a great start.
46:5012 points halfway through.
46:52That's huge right there.
46:54Uh-oh.
46:55He's starting to feel it.
46:56That rhythm is coming quick.
46:57It is.
46:58And remember, his money rack is coming up.
47:01Look at this.
47:01Uh-oh.
47:02This is fantastic for Khan.
47:03See, this puts pressure.
47:04When you can come out the gate like this, finally misses one.
47:11But the money rack, can he get the last three?
47:13There's one.
47:15There's two.
47:17And the strong finish is there for Khan.
47:19A start.
47:2127 in the opening round.
47:24This is how you, number one, start the event.
47:28But you put everyone on notice.
47:30Y'all better bring your A game.
47:33Because it can be over fast.
47:35Remember, fans, throughout the contest, look at the halo.
47:38Look at the follow-through.
47:40Gooseneck.
47:41See, this was his money rack.
47:42Another money ball.
47:44There he is with the money ball.
47:45Good base.
47:46Nice, wide base.
47:48Here was the State Farm three-point ball.
47:51Nothing but cash.
47:53And then this is when he started to warm up here.
47:57This is the spot where I would have my money ball.
47:59And he made them all, Jamal.
48:01He got hot.
48:02He stayed hot.
48:03And he got confident.
48:04You can see with his last shot.
48:05The last make, he started walking into it.
48:08He knew what time it was.
48:09Look at the goosenecks.
48:10See how he left it up there?
48:11Yep.
48:11But straight goose.
48:14So a 27 for the fourth overall pick out of Duke.
48:18What a way to set the tone for everybody else
48:21and put some pressure on the remaining field.
48:24And it's going to leave us to Donovan Mitchell, who's going pants.
48:27What?
48:27Going pants on with a Jalen Tyson jersey on.
48:30We saw Larry Bird keep his shooting shirt on back in the day.
48:35So he's rocking the Jalen Tyson, and he's shooting like him already.
48:39Tyson's second in the league in three-point percentage.
48:42Perfect start.
48:42Mm-hmm.
48:43And look at his pace.
48:44Look at his grip.
48:45But nothing's rushed.
48:47Still has yet to miss.
48:49I'm sorry.
48:50Good job, Noah.
48:51That's what I'm here for.
48:52I've got to keep the pants.
48:52Oh, man.
48:53What a start.
48:54And he is feeling it.
48:56Leading the NBA in total.
48:58Three-pointers made so far this season.
49:00He has shown the range through the year as well.
49:03What a season again for Donovan Mitchell,
49:05making another All-Star appearance this year.
49:07His seventh in a row.
49:09And this is, he's been in this competition three times before,
49:14and we were talking when we were up in Santa Clara for the Super Bowl.
49:17I told him, look, man, I've been in this five,
49:19I was in it five times, always a bridesmaid, never a bride.
49:23He was like, I don't want to be like that, Reg.
49:25I'm going to come bring it.
49:26This is his money rack right here.
49:28So he's got 19.
49:29Can he finish strong to at least put some pressure on that 27?
49:3521.
49:36Oh, this is beautiful.
49:3724 of the match.
49:40He's got to it.
49:42That's a great start.
49:44That is a great start for Spider.
49:47And that is his best round in all of his appearances in the competition.
49:52Got hot, stayed hot.
49:54Took him a while to miss.
49:55He's on cruise control right now.
49:57Just knocking it down.
49:58And watch the money ball.
49:59He's a right-foot shooter,
50:01which means he likes to leave with that right foot.
50:03The money ball was rolling for him.
50:05And it's just an effortless flip.
50:08Watch that right foot go.
50:09Walks into it.
50:10And in the end, he knew.
50:12There he is.
50:14Great shot.
50:14Great form.
50:15Pulled it back.
50:1624 points in the bag.
50:18And look at the competition, guys,
50:20that have not gone yet.
50:22You start the gates with a 27 and 24.
50:24My goodness.
50:25Yes.
50:26So the one thing I'm always curious about is how much different do those money balls feel?
50:31Do we know?
50:32Brace, do you know?
50:33I mean, they...
50:34Well, we didn't have the money rack when we played.
50:36We didn't have the money ball.
50:38But here's Jamal Murray.
50:39First time all-star from the Denver Nuggets.
50:43So this is your guy right here, right?
50:45And he also...
50:46Look where he put his money rack.
50:47Right at the top of the key.
50:48Of course.
50:48Because he would do it on that high screen and roll with Jokic.
50:52Coming down in transition.
50:54That hits his spot.
50:56He's really great off the bounce.
50:57Can he find a rhythm off the rack?
50:59That's a good rack right there.
51:00Right.
51:01And this could be huge, too.
51:03You feel like you just need one of those from the logo shots to go down.
51:07Right.
51:08But on your money rack, you want to get at least three.
51:10And he's missed his first two.
51:12There's one.
51:15And he's got to get this last one to just kind of keep pace.
51:18Yeah, that hurts.
51:19Now he needs this one.
51:22Help.
51:23Just doesn't feel like he caught a rhythm.
51:25Yeah, and watching those guys put up the numbers they did to start didn't help.
51:29That's the pressure of starting first and second.
51:32And you come out the gates of 27 and a 24.
51:35Got hot there.
51:37Can he at least clean this rack?
51:42I don't know if he's going to finish.
51:43Look at the time.
51:45Got it off in time.
51:46And he got it through.
51:47So he's got 18 in his opening round.
51:49It's respectable.
51:51Respectable.
51:51But Red, you said it.
51:52He gets the top of the key, pick and roll with Jokic.
51:54But the difference is this is a catch and shoot on the top of the key.
51:57Yeah.
51:57Right?
51:58So the rhythm's a little bit different.
52:00Here's the money ball from the top of the rack.
52:03In and out.
52:04And finds its way through.
52:07Yeah, guys.
52:08I don't feel great.
52:09I don't feel all that great right now.
52:13He's the buzzer to get 18.
52:16He's in the house.
52:17He's in the house.
52:18Well, but now he needs everybody else to get below 18.
52:21Yes.
52:21And we got Norman Powell, another first-time All-Star who played several years here with
52:26the Clippers and still has a lot of love.
52:28The wall at Intuit Dome has given him the love.
52:31He's going to go at his last rack going money balls.
52:34Remember, he had the lowest score in the three-point competition last year in San Francisco.
52:38Can he rectify it this year?
52:40Why you got to bring up the bad things?
52:41No, my goodness.
52:43Everybody's got to know the history.
52:44We got to know the history.
52:46That's all it is.
52:47He shoots a little high, though, fellas.
52:48Looks a little high.
52:50Taking his time as well.
52:52He has been a three-point sniper over the last couple of years.
52:55Okay, Jamal, look at Powell and how he jumps on all his shots.
52:59This is what I'm talking about.
53:01This is what wears you down because you're expending energy not only jumping, not only picking up
53:07the basketball, but shooting as well.
53:09So you've got three motions that can tire you out.
53:11Yes, you do.
53:12To your point, Ray, people see these guys do it all the time during All-Star Weekend.
53:16Don't realize how difficult this actually is, how tiring this actually is over the course
53:20of the minute.
53:21And on top of that, you're in an arena full of about 20,000 people in your solo.
53:27It's just a little bit different.
53:29People just think it's shooting and it's easy.
53:31It becomes a little taxing when you add the external factors to it.
53:35This is a big finish here for Powell.
53:37Powell, who got that from the logo ball to go.
53:40He's up to 17 with time winding down.
53:42Five seconds left for his money rack.
53:44Here we go.
53:45These two of them.
53:45Got two.
53:46Nice.
53:47Got three.
53:48Got three.
53:49Oh, he didn't even finish.
53:50But you know what?
53:51He ends up with 23.
53:52And look at that back cap.
53:54Got hot at the top of the key and carried it the rest of the way.
53:56That will knock Jamal out of the competition.
53:59Jamal Murray.
54:00That means Jamal and Noah's out the competition.
54:02Oh, come on.
54:03Shoot's it kind of high right there.
54:10And he finally caught his rhythm.
54:14Shot the long one.
54:18This is a guy.
54:19His motion, it feels like, takes a lot of time to get ready.
54:23He had trouble finishing last season as well.
54:25But a much better score puts himself right in that position.
54:28You see, Jamal Murray knows that his day is done.
54:33Well, if you were to ask me, Noah, I would have given you a little precursor.
54:37I would have told you this.
54:39What would you have told him?
54:39You would have said, first-timer, you should have known from his interview that he was nervous.
54:45I should have changed my pick just like that.
54:47We've got our first four in.
54:49Next four up next on the State Farm three-point contest.
54:52We on the court.
54:53All right, fans, we're going to have a little history lesson here.
54:56I want to talk about the three-point shot.
54:58We're halfway through the first round of the State Farm three-point contest.
55:01So, the NBA adopted the three-point line for one year as kind of a trial period from 1979 to 1980.
55:08And then Chris Ford on the Boston Celtics made the very first three-pointer in the league on October 12, 1979.
55:15And it changed the future of the game.
55:17Over four decades of three-point shot history in the books and many, many more to come.
55:24Speaking of history, you know what, fans?
55:26Why don't we open up those history books from your seats and play some all-star trivia.
55:31Here we go.
55:31Take a look at the Halo board.
55:34Here's how we're going to play from the armrest of your seats.
55:37You're going to see some buttons, each representing a different color.
55:43You're going to hit the button and the color that matches the right answer.
55:47Here we go.
55:48First question.
55:49Who won the three-point contest the last time he was in Los Angeles?
55:52Was it Devin Booker, Clay Townsend, Kyle Lowry, or Tobias Harris?
55:56Got to get your inches in quick, folks.
55:58Three seconds left.
55:59What do you think?
56:01And let's see.
56:02How many people got this right?
56:04Devin Booker is the right answer.
56:07Wow.
56:08937?
56:09Okay.
56:10Can we beat that with the next question?
56:12Let's see.
56:13Who was the first seven-footer to win the three-point contest?
56:16Was it Kevin Love, Dirk Nowitzki, Carl Anthony Towns, or Larry Bird?
56:20This one's a tough one.
56:22Three seconds left.
56:25What did you decide?
56:26Dirk Nowitzki is the correct answer.
56:29How many got that one right?
56:31Wow.
56:31We're making improvement.
56:321,338.
56:34Final question of All-Star Trivia.
56:36Right now, we're double the points.
56:38Who's the most recent player doing consecutive three-point contests?
56:41Was it Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, Jason Capono, or Mark Rice?
56:47Last and final question.
56:49Let's see.
56:52Damian Lillard's right answer.
56:54How many people got this correct?
56:572067.
56:57Hey, that's some great trivia right there, folks.
57:01Who had the most points, though?
57:03Terrace, 24, row 13, C4.
57:05That's what I'm talking about.
57:07If I ever have another trivia question, I can tell you right now, I'm going to be asking you those questions.
57:12So great job.
57:13And you know what?
57:14What's trivia without surprises?
57:16And don't get confused.
57:17I don't have the prizes, but you know what does?
57:19Keep looking up in the sky.
57:20The Halo Board does.
57:21And if you want some T-shirts, I've got to hear you.
57:25Make some noise!
57:28We see you two go, we got some T-shirts, but we're looking for the loudest, the craziest fan in the Intuit Dome.
57:47The craziest fan in the Intuit Dome!
57:51MLB opening day is on NBC and Peacock.
58:16To lead off, the Pirates visit the Mets then in prime time.
58:19It's the Diamondbacks against the World Series champion Dodgers Thursday, March 26th.
58:25It's only on NBC and Peacock.
58:27Dodger Stadium.
58:28I would say just down the road, but it's a little bit down the road from where we are in Inglewood,
