00:00We have more tariffs right now on Canada than we do on China.
00:04One day, we're all about Buy America.
00:05The next day, Donald Trump's talking about letting in Chinese electric vehicles into the United States.
00:10So we've got to get our house in order, and I understand why Europeans would be hedging on making a
00:16deal,
00:16even though that's absolutely in our best interest for both sides.
00:19And on the question of tariffs, you had this vote in the House, bipartisan,
00:22basically saying that they were not in favor of these tariffs with Canada.
00:26How do you interpret that as a sort of referendum on Trump economic policy, and do you think it changes
00:31anything?
00:31It was a big deal.
00:32I mean, look, bravery sometimes comes in millimeters.
00:35We had six Republicans who broke with their party and voted with Democrats to say
00:39the president's sloppy tariff policy isn't good and should be repealed and looked at.
00:45That opens the door to a bunch more votes on tariffs.
00:47That is a big deal.
00:48I'll take it, right?
00:49Do I wish people were stronger and spoke up for their local state economies?
00:53Yeah.
00:53But will I take this?
00:54Yes, yes, and it's definitely, I think, people looking ahead to the midterms and saying he's a boat anchor.
00:59These tariffs certainly are a boat anchor for their re-election.
01:02And what do you think it tells us about what we can expect in the midterms?
01:04I know we're still some distance away.
01:05Yeah, I think people are upset.
01:08They're upset because he said he was going to do something about the economy.
01:11He's focused more, much more, on foreign policy.
01:15He said he was going to bring back jobs.
01:17Michigan has lost almost more jobs than any other state in the country.
01:20He just hasn't lived up with the things that he campaigned on and has been focused abroad.
01:25And I think that people want to know what he's going to do for them and their lives, and he's
01:30just not made that his priority.
01:32And I also wanted to talk about the sort of things more squarely on the domestic side, the indictment that
01:36was attempted against you and a number of fellow Democrats.
01:39That is, they've obviously elected not to move forward on.
01:42Just your reaction to that.
01:44Do you consider the matter to be closed at this stage?
01:47I don't think anyone considers it closed.
01:48And we're already hearing rumors that they're going to try again to indict us for, I guess, sedition.
01:53And just to review the bidding, it's a 90-second video that just restates current military law, that you have
01:59a responsibility to refuse illegal orders.
02:02All of us, our service, are veteran folks.
02:05We all served in some capacity.
02:07And I think, you know, the president is weaponizing the federal government against his perceived adversaries.
02:12It's right out of an authoritarian playbook.
02:14Many Europeans understand that better than most Americans.
02:17And I think this is where we've come to in the United States.
02:22And if they can do it to a sitting senator, what can they do to a business leader, a community
02:26leader?
