00:30Half-time at Crypto.
00:33The Lakers lead the Mavs 64-63.
00:35Welcome on in.
00:36I'm Taylor Rooks, joined by Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin, and Udonis Haslam.
00:40Mavs trying their best to end their eight-game losing streak,
00:42closing the half on a 12-0 run.
00:45But LeBron, he's coming.
00:46Came into tonight with back-to-back 20-point double-doubles.
00:49He scored or assisted on 35 of the Lakers' 64 points so far.
00:53Ageless wonder, BG.
00:55He is.
00:56And I love the way he sort of set the tone early,
00:58and especially in this stretch of games.
01:00He's done such a good job of just either taking a shot,
01:03moving the ball, getting off it, cutting.
01:05I mean, we know how good he's been in transition this whole season.
01:09But he really came out and set the tone for them.
01:11And you can kind of tell by the way the Lakers were playing
01:13offensively and defensively.
01:15But the biggest thing here, a shorthanded Dallas Mavericks team.
01:20Lakers playing well, and they let them slip back into this game.
01:23At this point in the season, last game before the All-Star break,
01:26you have to finish games like this.
01:29When teams have confidence like the Mavs do right now,
01:31only down one after being down by a lot more,
01:34they believe they can win this game.
01:36And now the last game before All-Star break can have that bad feeling.
01:39So coming out and putting a team away is super important.
01:43This Mavs team, they're scrapping.
01:45Yeah.
01:45They're scrapping.
01:47I'll tell you what, they're having a tough season,
01:48but they're always competing.
01:50Jay Kidd got these boys playing hard.
01:53They were down 30 in Phoenix the other night,
01:55came back, made it a single-digit game.
01:58And again, tonight, they just keep competing.
02:00You know, they have young guys.
02:01They're hungry.
02:01They want to play.
02:02They keep attacking the paint.
02:04They're never tired of getting the paint in fast break
02:06and attacking off the pick and rolls.
02:08Where they struggle is sometimes shooting the ball,
02:10shooting three.
02:11They're obviously bottom five and three-point percentage.
02:14So if they have a night like tonight, they make a few threes,
02:16they feel good about themselves, a young team,
02:18they can be dangerous.
02:19Yeah, and I just want to give some flowers to Najee Marshall.
02:22Undrafted guy.
02:23I got to give a shout-out to my undrafted guys.
02:25Float me.
02:25I got to give a shout-out to my undrafted guy.
02:27But this is a guy who, to me,
02:28has been somewhat of the unsung hero of this team.
02:30This is a guy who's consistently guarding the other team's best guy.
02:34He's offensively getting into the paint.
02:35He shoots 71% in the restricted area.
02:38Basically, once he gets inside the paint,
02:40something good is going to happen.
02:42So I love what he's doing.
02:43And also, Mike's crazy.
02:44I think he gets a bum rap for how that trade worked out
02:47with Anthony Davis.
02:47But this kid has held his part of that bargain and that trade.
02:51Top 20 in the league in three-point percentage.
02:53He's a 3 and D guy.
02:54Can guard multiple positions.
02:55And I also see him starting to develop his playmaking ability offensively as well.
02:59So I love what those guys are doing right now in the first half.
03:01Yeah, definitely contributing a lot to this game.
03:04You know, the Mavs, they want to get this win.
03:06They have not lost nine in a row since 1998
03:09when Michael Finley led the Mavs in scoring, Dirk.
03:12Okay.
03:13Hey, I was just graduating high school.
03:16That is a long time ago.
03:17That is a long time ago.
03:18All right.
03:18LeBron has 18 points and eight assists,
03:21including this here love for Jackson Hayes.
03:25Some contests.
03:26Lakers lead the Mavs 64-63.
03:29The half presented by AT&T continues on after this.
03:32Time now for the AT&T Fan Clutch Call Line
03:35where we answer fans' biggest questions about the NBA.
03:38And our question tonight is
03:40what makes someone a true All-Star?
03:43Stats, impacts, or moments?
03:45BG ponders.
03:47Yeah.
03:48I don't ponder often, but this one may be pondered.
03:51I mean, stats and impact are sort of go hand in hand, right?
03:55Like, we want to celebrate.
03:57The All-Star game is about celebrating guys
03:58who are having a fantastic season.
04:01Pascal Siakam is a great example of a guy
04:03who is on a team that is down their superstar point guard
04:07and they're not having the best year,
04:08but he is having a fantastic year
04:10and he has a huge impact on that team, right?
04:12And you want to celebrate those guys.
04:14So, with stats comes impact.
04:17So, I don't know.
04:18I kind of have to go with two.
04:20Well, I would argue you could have really great stats,
04:22but not necessarily impact winning.
04:24That is true as well.
04:26Yeah, I guess.
04:27Thanks, Taylor.
04:28I guess the record does play into it, a factor,
04:33but I agree, it's stats and impact.
04:36Every now and then, a guy like Pascal obviously makes it in.
04:40Their team is having not a great season,
04:43but he's been so impactful on that team
04:46and playing so well, so well-deserved.
04:48Yeah, I've seen guys have great stats on bad teams,
04:50so I'm going off impact moments.
04:52You can have guys that have moments
04:53and then they disappear in other moments,
04:55so I'll go with impact.
04:56Perfect.
04:57Hey, did you all know a rookie hasn't made an All-Star team
04:59since Blake Griffin in 2011?
05:00All right, you can submit your questions
05:02by sending a direct message
05:04to at NPM Prime social handles
05:06for a chance to have them answered here
05:08on the Fan Clutch call line by these guys.
05:11All right, we are halfway home at Crypto
05:13on the last night before All-Star weekend.
05:16LeBron and the Lakers lead the Mavs, 64 to 63.
05:19The second half is coming up right after this.
05:22The half is presented by AT&T.
05:30Connecting changes everything.
05:46Welcome back to the NBA on Prime,
05:48presented by Wingstop.
05:50One-point lead for the Lakers
05:51as we start the second half.
05:53Ian Eagle, Steve Nash, Stan Van Gundy
05:56furiously still writing notes at the break,
05:59and Cassidy Hubbard as well.
06:01What'd you write down there, Stan?
06:03I can't tell you, Ian.
06:05You can't tell me.
06:06It's secret.
06:06Very secret.
06:07I could just look at your notepad,
06:08but that's not a problem.
06:09Well, it's not that secret.
06:11All right, Steve, let's get into
06:13what was working for the Lakers
06:15in that first half,
06:16our epic performance presented by Hyundai.
06:18Well, the Lakers were epic in transition,
06:21whether off the rebound and getting out and running.
06:24They also made some incredible transition plays
06:27off turnovers,
06:28but LeBron, whether for the three
06:30or using his speed
06:32or the incredible vision and deliveries
06:35he makes in transition,
06:3717 fast break points for the Lakers,
06:40and LeBron once again put on a clinic in transition.
06:44Yeah, and the Lakers got up 13,
06:47but Najee Marshall led Dallas back,
06:51attacking, hitting pull-ups,
06:54floaters in the lane,
06:57and getting out in transition.
07:01Najee Marshall with 16 points and four assists
07:04to lead the Mavericks.
07:07And moments ago,
07:08Cassidy Hubbard with the Lakers,
07:10Rui Hachimura.
07:15Rui, the Mavericks were able to close that half
07:17on a 12-0 run.
07:18What did you guys talk about in the locker room
07:20to regain momentum to start the third?
07:22Get back on the defense.
07:23You know, they're trying to play hard, fast,
07:25so we got to get back on defense,
07:26and those are the points that we got
07:28in the last five minutes,
07:29so yeah, we got to focus on that.
07:31And you guys were able to control
07:32the fast break to start the game,
07:34but how can you control the pace
07:36in the second half?
07:36Yeah, I think we got to relax.
07:37You know, I think this is our last game
07:40before the break.
07:41We got a lot saying,
07:42and we got to get this one.
07:43Thanks for your time, Rui.
07:44Thank you.
07:45Back to you.
07:46In fact, it's the final game in the NBA
07:49before the All-Star break.
07:51Gets underway here in Los Angeles.
07:53Christie on a kick for Williams,
07:55and there was a whistle.
07:58That stops play.
07:59Defensive three seconds.
08:01The call.
08:01Rui Hachimura not happy
08:03with the whistle from Rodney Mott.
08:08Well, he got the switch.
08:10Hachimura switched on to Daniel Gaffer.
08:12Oh, they got him for a foul.
08:14Yeah, Gaffer rolled him down,
08:16and he tried to get physical with him,
08:18and they made the call.
08:21Marshall launched it up,
08:23and it's rebounded by Smart.
08:25Smart, he draws Gaffer.
08:40Seven to shoot.
08:42Smart lets it fly.
08:45Off the rim.
08:46La Ravia grabs it for the offensive board.
08:49Smart again.
08:49Won't go.
08:52And Marcus Smart
08:53is three of 12.
08:560 of 7 from three-point range.
08:57Marshall to the rim.
09:00Najee Marshall with a chance at a three-point play.
09:03And he goes at his former Pelicans teammate,
09:06Jackson Hayes.
09:07So strong.
09:10Extended the arms up.
09:12A la James Harden up through the arms
09:14and drawn the foul.
09:17Showed an incredible touch
09:18and a variety of shots here.
09:19Off one leg, off two pull-ups, floaters.
09:23Finding a way to score the basketball.
09:25He's got a seven-foot wingspan,
09:28so six-foot-six,
09:29but the versatility at either forward position.
09:36Well, he's really worked to improve his skills.
09:40Came in as a tough competitor, defender,
09:45you know,
09:45but has really improved his ball-handling skills
09:48to be able to get to where he needs to get to on the floor.
09:51The basket by Hachimura,
09:53and then the steal by Hachimura.
09:54Hachimura triggers to James.
09:56Smart.
09:57Not going to take the shot this time.
10:01LeBron waits for his teammates to get down the floor.
10:04Smart, ball fake.
10:05Baseline delivery.
10:07No, it's up top,
10:08and Hayes misses on the lay-in.
10:13Hayes doesn't miss video, though.
10:15Shoots 77% on the year coming in.
10:19Dallas trying to regain the lead,
10:21and Christie turns it over.
10:23James.
10:24The locomotive to the rim.
10:26LeBron James.
10:28A spin and finish.
10:31He said it coming out of the half.
10:32LeBron James and the Lakers have been devastating in transition,
10:35and still, I'll say it again,
10:37at 41,
10:38he is impossible to contain in transition.
10:40Steve, I got to tell you,
10:41when he takes off in transition,
10:43the number of times I coached against LeBron,
10:46I have PTSD when he starts heading down the court.
10:50I hit just, oh, I can feel it physically.
10:53This just isn't good.
10:54Brandon Williams answers with a triple,
10:58and Dallas has regained the lead, 69-68.

25:57High and Eagle, Steve Nash, Stan Van Vendie, Cassidy Hubbard, the rest of our NBA on Prime Crew.
26:04Lakers have a 14-point advantage trying to snap a two-game losing streak.
26:09Dallas has dropped eight in a row.
26:11Now 19-34 on the season.
26:15Smart over Washington.
26:17That's the onshore.
26:21It's that time of year.
26:22Steve, you just know so much.
26:24He does.
26:25Well, he was here.
26:26He knows this area.
26:31Just underway here in the fourth quarter.
26:33Lakers interaction, number six in the Western Conference.
26:36A half-game behind Minnesota.
26:38One game ahead of Phoenix.
26:39And there's another traffic call.
26:44Clay Thompson again.
26:46That's four turnovers for Clay Thompson the last couple of good travels.
26:50Dallas has turned it over 13 times.
26:58They came in averaging 14.7 turnovers per game.
27:04By himself.
27:05Canard set up by Smart.
27:07And this is now the largest cushion of the night for L.A.
27:10Well, that's 54 in the paint.
27:12Look, the Lakers don't shoot many threes.
27:17Don't shoot them all that well.
27:19But they are the best two-point shooting team in the NBA.
27:25They're at 60% on twos.
27:27They're the best in the restricted area.
27:29And they're the best from the restricted area to 10 feet.
27:33They convert in there, and they are wearing Dallas out in the paint.
27:39Now 56 in the paint.
27:43So that'll count for LeBron James, the goaltend.
27:47The lead is now 18 for the Lakers.
27:54This is the longest Dallas losing streak in nine seasons.
27:59Yeah, nothing going down right now for Dallas.
28:08Mavers are on pace for their worst record since the 2017-2018 season.
28:15Lakers are shooting 71% on two-pointers.
28:20And LeBron is fouled.
28:22I don't like that foul by Gafford.
28:24Gafford's a guy with great athletic ability.
28:27He's got half a step on you, just playing to the rim
28:31and go up and contest and make him finish over you.
28:35Absolutely.
28:36And the play before as well, he had no business blocking that ball.
28:38It already hit the glass, was going to be a miss.
28:41And for no reason, goaltends it.
28:42I think also his gapping of LeBron.
28:44Use your length, maybe give him a half a step more
28:47and try to pick him up off the first dribble.
28:49When you're giving up 50-plus points in the paint,
28:52maybe let's try to contest some threes.
28:54Change it up a little bit.
28:57If Dallas were to lose tonight, it would be a nine-game losing streak.
29:01That would be their longest losing streak
29:02since dropping 14 in a row at 98-99.
29:09Washington, a back end.
29:11And Washington hits on a floater.
29:14I don't even think I was born in 98-99.
29:17Let's go to Wikipedia.
29:18I mean, just doing the math, I don't, yeah.
29:23Talking about 1989, Stan.
29:26Oh, oh, okay.
29:29102-84.
29:319.45 to play in the fourth.
29:34James is going to take and get fouled on a three,
29:38and Gafford's upset.
29:44You never want to foul a three-point shooter.
29:46Oh, I'd like to see the replay.
29:48But he did have a better strategy here.
29:51Gave him a little more of a gap.
29:52And then...
29:53Ooh, I don't know why.
29:55They're going to challenge.
29:56Yeah.
29:56And I think they're going to win this.
29:58That, to me, is the classic high five they talk about.
30:02That's right.
30:03He didn't...
30:04It wasn't excessive.
30:05He got the hand.
30:06They're going to win this challenge.
30:07It is a coaching challenge from Jason Kidd.
30:11Wingstop is here by CarMax.
30:14Want to drive?
30:16And by State Farm.
30:18Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
30:21Dallas won the challenge and then won the tip.
30:25There was no conclusive possession.
30:27That's why they got a jump ball.
30:29And Williams converts with the runner and the foul.
30:33Yeah, as I said, Gafford gave a little more of a gap to limit penetration.
30:40There he gets the clean block on the ball.
30:42And then they've talked about this as a point of emphasis.
30:44That high five is legal as a defender.
30:49Well, and we were right on top of that.
30:51I really think on NBA, on prime games, the review process should be different than it is on the other games.
31:00They should just come to our table.
31:02We'll give them the answer if we move on.
31:05Yeah, that's going to be talked about at the next officiating meeting.
31:09Okay.
31:10Competition committee.
31:11Oh, yeah.
31:11The competition.
31:12The stand cam.
31:15LeBron ball fake.
31:16Loop it too high.
31:18And James thought Hayes was fouled.
31:21Washington tried the reverse, and he is fouled by Smart.
31:27Dallas trying to chip away here.
31:299.08 to play in the fourth.
31:32Yeah, this game isn't over yet.
31:34I think Stan brought it up earlier.
31:36The difference in the game so far is the possession game.
31:39The Lakers have got more offensive rebounds and force more turnovers.
31:42So they've got more looks at the basket.
31:43Other than that, Dallas has been pretty efficient offensively.
31:47And if the Lakers don't get back on top here defensively and converting at the other end,
31:51Dallas will find a way back in.
31:52Yeah, absolutely.
31:53And then, look, we know, at least for the last five or six years, basically no lead is safe in the NBA anymore because of the pace and the three-point shooting.
32:07Now, these are two low-volume three-point shooting teams, but you still just never know.
32:12P.J. Washington trying to cut it to 13, and he does.
32:187-0 run.
32:20102-89.
32:22Lakers.
32:27L.A. shooting it at 56% from the field, but just 30% from three-point territory.
32:36LeBron against Williams.
32:38Six on the timer.
32:39James makes his move.
32:41Swing it.
32:42Corner.
32:43Vanderbilt doesn't take the jumper.
32:44Slashes.
32:45Hayes.
32:46It felt late, and it was.
32:48Shot clock violation.
32:50Well, that's the challenge for the Lakers right now, having Hayes and Vanderbilt on the floor.
32:55They get LeBron with the matchup they want in the middle of the floor, but you've got two non-shooters out there, which makes it crowded.
33:02LeBron has to kick out.
33:03Now they're on the clock, and Vanderbilt tries to make a pass and runs out of time.
33:08Well, that's one of the big questions going forward for the Lakers, let's face it.
33:12Even when they're at full strength, do they have enough shooting around those stars?
33:17Williams almost finessed that one in.
33:21That's the reason why Luke Kennard is now on the Lakers, because of what you guys just mentioned.
33:26And I don't think we have the answer yet as to what they're going to be once they're healthy.
33:31We're still trying to figure it out, the NBA community.
33:34Just ten games with their version of the big three, Luka, LeBron, and Austin Reeves.
33:42Well, and then the question becomes, when you have all those three guys together, obviously, you're going to be very, very tough to stop.
33:51But how do you stop the other team when we take a Rui Hachimura, Marcus Smart, and Jake LaRavia off the floor?
33:59Because none of the trio of Reeves, Donchis, and LeBron at this point in his career are plus defenders, particularly on the ball.
34:10One out of two for Williams.
34:16I like Williams.
34:17The one thing I'd like to see from Williams, I know he's not a shooter, but with that quickness, but he's not a disruptive defender.
34:25I'd like to see him use that quickness defensively.
34:28Reeves takes it to the rim.
34:31Got the contact and the bucket.
34:34Chance for three.
34:35Smart from Reeves here.
34:37He sees a little dummy action in front of him, and he takes the space.
34:40Penetrates.
34:42Help defenders are worried about that dummy action and aren't there to slide in and keep him out of the paint.
34:49Yeah, and if you're Najee Marshall on the ball, you're guarding the ball.
34:54You have to be locked in on the guy you're guarding.
34:56You can see him peeking around looking for a screen.
35:00You got no chance to stop a guy like Austin Reeves if you don't have eye discipline.
35:07Washington spins on Reeves, and he puts it in.
35:13E.J. Washington with 15 points.
35:18The Lakers cushion is 13.
35:22Reeves bounces.
35:23Hayes looking to get rid of it.
35:24Hachimura, pull-up jumper, is good.
35:31Hachimura, a solid night.
35:3418 points on 8 of 12 from the field.
35:42Get it inside.
35:43Thompson to the finish.
35:44Every time I see the Lakers in their man-to-man defense, I know why J.J. Reddick's played so much zone.
35:56They are playing the fifth-most zone as Reeves chants it from long range.
36:02But the numbers are trending upward to the number zone.
36:07They're playing.
36:07They seem to be playing more of it as Williams turns it over.
36:15We've got a timeout with 7.17 to go.
36:19In regulation.
36:20Final game before the All-Star break.
36:22Lakers currently in control.
36:23And here is LeBron James with some incredible transition dishes.
36:35And a season-high 12 assists.
36:40Approaching a triple-double here in just 30 minutes.
36:44It's amazing.
36:45And I don't know about you, Steve, when you competed against him,
36:49but when I coached against LeBron, what's amazing,
36:51the guy's putting the career scoring record out of reach.
36:54Almost 43,000 points.
36:56And I never thought that was the best part of his game.
36:59Right.
37:00I thought the best part of his game was his passing.
37:03And we tried hard to limit that and make him a scorer.
37:08I don't know what you do with a guy like him.
37:12LeBron is in year number 23.
37:16Lakers don't like to call.
37:21And it will be LeBron picking it up.
37:246.50 mark of the fourth.
37:26Now, I just wanted to know, too, Steve,
37:28I know you interviewed LeBron today.
37:31And he's making his 22nd straight All-Star appearance.
37:36And I—did he talk about the influence I had on him
37:40in that first All-Star game?
37:43Because I've never heard him speak publicly on that.
37:45He couldn't shut up about it.
37:47He went over and over how impactful those two games were in his career.
37:54Well, you know, All-Star coaching is usually pretty influential.
37:59Big practice.
38:00Oh, yeah, absolutely.
38:02Yeah.
38:02Unfortunately, none of the comments on Stan made the final cut of the interview.
38:07Oh, yeah.
38:09That's too much.
38:10Well, that's why I wanted Steve to comment on that.
38:12That's a shame.
38:13I mean, I'm surprised LeBron hasn't come over and given you a big hug or something, Stan.
38:21I mean, that would give him PTSD, I can tell you that.
38:25Is LeBron coming at Stan?
38:28Oh, yes.
38:30So he's two rebounds away from a triple-double.
38:33He's done it in 30 minutes.
38:3426 points, 12 assists, eight boards.
38:38Washington at the free-throw line.
38:39Dallas trying to make this one interesting for the final 6-37.
38:45The issue for the Mavericks, they have not gotten stops.
38:50L.A. shooting 57% from the field.
38:55Reeves against Christie.
38:58Reeves, hard drive.
38:59And he missed it on the scoop to the hoop.
39:04Seems like about the only time they do this is...
39:08Christie has it blocked by Hayes.
39:11Reeves on the move.
39:13And he drives into Middleton and picks up the foul.
39:17I'll tell you, Jackson Hayes has had a huge impact on this game.
39:21We talked about the steals and the offensive rebounds.
39:25Great block right there to start the fast break.
39:31Yeah, and Austin got a do-over.
39:33He made a beautiful move to play before,
39:34but kind of got in between floater layup range and couldn't convert.
39:38And then gets back out in transition and draws the block.
39:43And is going to the line for two.
39:44They are playing without DeAndre Ayton tonight.
39:50Knee soreness.
39:53Career-low numbers for Ayton this season as Reeves
39:56misses on the last attempt.
40:00Career-low numbers, but I think he's given the Lakers what they need.
40:05The combination of he and Jackson Hayes,
40:08they've got lob threats,
40:10guys who can play pick and roll with the three stars of the Lakers.
40:15And give him some size inside.
40:20Inside, Hachimura.
40:22Two smaller defenders, and it bounced off his knee out of bounds.
40:26I don't know why you bring that ball down and put it on the floor.
40:29That's why when you've got the smaller defender,
40:32you catch high, keep it high, and just go up and score.
40:36You don't need to get closer to the rim.
40:38Williams to Bagley.
40:40Ball got knocked around.
40:43And a foul was called.
40:45Against Bagley.
40:59Dallas will be at Minnesota next Friday night
41:01to resume the second half of the NBA season.

44:34Безусы, health has been a major part of their problem this year.
44:41No Caleb Martin tonight.
44:43He's out with a spurring left ankle.
44:47If you're a Mavericks fan, looking forward with Cooper Flagg,
44:50the question is Kyrie Irving and Derek Lively.
44:52If those guys can play and stay healthy,
44:54you've seen the improvement of Max Christie, Najee Marshall,
44:59PJ Washington.
45:00Now you're starting to see some depth, some optionality.
45:03That's a team you can get excited about and develop with.
45:06Totally agree.
45:08Reeves grabs the board.
45:09J.J. Redick takes the timeout with 3.18 to play.
45:15Fourth quarter, Lakers 1.15, the Mavericks 99.
45:19And now a word from Wingstop.
45:25They said, we want to see an excerpt of the Steve Nash, LeBron James,
45:30one-on-one interview.
45:30So that's what we're going to do.
45:33Here's a part of that conversation.
45:34Give Laker Nation and the fans out there what you're looking for
45:39in these last kind of 30 or 40 games.
45:40Yeah, we just want to get healthy, man.
45:41I think that's the most important for our team
45:43and to know exactly what we have.
45:45We're top six in the West right now.
45:47We want to try to avoid the play-in.
45:49Get a couple more days to rest,
45:50but also just guarantee yourself a playoff series.
45:53So that's the most important thing.
45:55Beautiful.
45:55And he's on the money.
46:00The reality is you can't form a true opinion
46:04until you see it and get a sense of who they're going to be
46:08with a healthy roster.
46:11Stay tuned.
46:12NBA nightcap presented by Wayfair.
46:14Coming up, Taylor Rucks, Blake Griffin,
46:16Udonis Haslam, and Dirk Nowinski.
46:19My people.
46:21Your people.
46:21Right?
46:22Yeah.
46:22You feel okay about this?
46:26I'm a team player.
46:27I've got two teams.
46:29We're all on the same team.
46:31I don't want to create any divides between studio and booth.
46:35Good answer.
46:37LeBron lays it in.
46:39He's 10 of 20 from the field.
46:4228 points, 12 assists, 9 rebounds.
46:46Why no tie tonight, Steve?
46:48Was that a conscious decision?
46:49I was styled by Miami Vice.
46:53The Don Johnson collection.
46:57Foul called on the floor.
47:00Taylor Rooks asked me what I liked better,
47:03the games or the studio.
47:05I don't think she was thrilled with my answer.
47:07She felt it was very Swiss.
47:08It was, you know, a bit neutral.
47:10Right down the middle.
47:11She was hoping for a much more one-sided response.
47:15It was sort of like Dirk's answer on his favorite point guard.
47:18Right.
47:19Dirk went totally Swiss on that.
47:22A Swiss miss.
47:25A.J. Johnson in the game.
47:27One of the new faces for the Dallas Mavericks.
47:33Bagley will get another free throw.
47:35Bagley, Johnson, Jones, none of them were with the team until recently.
47:42Well, I'll tell you, the week or two after the trading deadline every year,
47:48just trying to figure out who's with who is not easy.
47:54My dad said to me the other night, we're watching a Clipper game.
47:56He goes, I don't know who plays on what team anymore.
48:00He's got 21 points.
48:11He's three of four from long range.
48:13He came in shooting it at 44% from beyond the arc.
48:19Jones, that three, off the rim, and James has got the board.
48:23The triple-double.
48:24The fans were aware of it.
48:26And now, LeBron James has secured it.
48:29Is that his first one of the year, Kyle?
48:32Do we know?
48:33Because I don't know.
48:35I should know, and I don't know.
48:37Will confirm it.
48:39Oh!
48:40Big-time flush from Hayes.
48:44A preview of the slam-dunk competition.
48:48And now, J.J. Reddick's going to enter the bench as LeBron gets an ovation from this crowd.
49:04It is the first triple-double of the season for LeBron James.
49:09Lakers have Konek, Timmy, Bufkin, Thiero, and Bronny getting ready to check in.
49:25So now, the James family, at this very moment, has a combined triple-double.
49:37This is true.
49:39How many times have a father and son had a combined triple-double, Ian?
49:43Yeah, I'm going to have to check the record books.
49:46It feels like when someone was asked which brothers have the most home runs together,
49:52and it was Henry and Tom and Aaron.
49:56It's a similar stat.
50:00Might have been Barry Bonds and his brother.
50:03Yeah.
50:04Who didn't play in the major league.
50:08Shot clock running down.
50:09Hero floats it in.
50:11124-102.
50:21Lakers will snap their two-game losing streak.
50:24And the skid continues for Dallas.
50:28Powell drives and gets it to go.
50:31I don't know about for players, Steve, but for coaches,
50:34there are a few must-wins.
50:37And the game before the All-Star break is a must-win.
50:41So you've got a few days at least before you have to worry about another loss.
50:45100%.
50:46There's nothing worse than losing that game after stew over it when you're trying to relax for a few days.
50:52A miss by Bumpkin.
50:54Johnson gets it across.
50:5540 seconds to play.
50:57J.J. Redick can enjoy his ski trip with his family over All-Star break.
51:03Christy.
51:06No good.
51:07Rebounded by Kinect.
51:11Six-second difference shot clock.
51:13The game clock.
51:13I do not think the guys who come in late should have to hold the ball.
51:21I really don't.
51:24Browning's going to take it.
51:25And miss it from three-point territory.
51:28And Dallas.
51:31It's going to let the clock run down.
51:33The Mavericks drop their ninth in a row.
51:42A triple-double for LeBron James.
51:45They pull away against the Mavs.
51:48124 to 104 in the final.
51:56We hit the All-Star break.
51:58LeBron James will be a part of the festivities.
52:00And right now he's standing by with Cassidy Huffman.
52:05LeBron, your first triple-double of the season.
52:08And you also become the oldest player with a triple-double all-time passing Carl Malone.
52:14It seemed like you were a step ahead all night.
52:17What were you seeing out there?
52:19You know, just trying to finish it off on the right foot.
52:23Obviously, we had, you know, dropped the last two.
52:25So, going into the break, definitely wanted to go in with a win.
52:28Feel good about the break.
52:29So, just want to get a little bit more energy, a little bit more pep in my step to show the guys that it's a game that means something, you know, to us.
52:36So, to the standings where we're trying to – the West is tough.
52:39So, you know, can't afford to drop games.
52:42Our booth, including your podcast partner, we're just marveling at how you're still such a weapon in transition.
52:48You're still leading the league in fast-break points.
52:51What does it feel like for you at age 41 when you have a full steam ahead?
52:55You know, for me, my game has always been trying to put pressure on the defense, play the numbers game.
53:01And I feel like if I could get the ball off the rim or if a guy pitched me the ball up ahead, I'd try to, you know, see the rim.
53:07Obviously, I'd be able to attack more eyes and more defenders and spray out to my guys.
53:12So, it's pretty cool to be able to still play at this level and be able to sprint the floor, run the floor, and hang with teenagers, 20-year-olds, early 30s.
53:22So, it's pretty cool.
53:23I guess we can say the All-Star break has officially started, record-setting 22 All-Star appearances for you.
53:31What makes this weekend still special for you?
53:35I mean, you get voted in, you know, or coaches pick you, whatever the case may be.
53:43It's a special weekend because you get recognized as one of the best players to play the game,
53:46and they recognize what you've done in that first half of the season.
53:49For me, I was a kid who marveled at all the All-Stars, all the All-Star games growing up.
53:55You know, and to be able to hit the floor and be a part of, like, the legacy
54:02and everything that's happened with NBA All-Star Weekend and NBA All-Star Game on Sunday.
54:08I'm super humbled, super blessed, and happy to be part of it.
54:12Congrats on the win.
54:12Have fun this weekend.
54:13All right, thanks, Cassidy.
54:14Back to you.
54:15All right, Cassidy, thanks so much.
54:17Lakers get that win.
54:18They are tied with Minnesota for fifth place in the Western Conference at the All-Star Break.
54:24That's going to do it from Crypto.com Arena here in Los Angeles.
54:27Final score, 124 to 104.
54:30Lakers over the Mavs.
54:32For Sam Van Gundy, Steve Nash, Cassidy Hubbard, and the rest of our crew,
54:36Ian Eagle, so long from L.A.
54:39Coming up next, NBA Nightcap presented by Wayfair.
54:42Enjoy your All-Star Break, everybody.
54:48Thank you.
54:49Bye-bye.
54:49We'll be right back.
54:50Bye-bye.
54:50Bye-bye.
54:51Bye.
54:51Bye-bye.
54:51Bye-bye.
54:53Bye-bye.
