00:00Oh, those top spread lines. You need to know on a Thursday. We handle our business right here on the
00:05early line. Come on. We do it every single morning, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, live 7 a.m.
00:11to 9 a.m. Eastern. Your boy, Donnie Wrightside and Joe Ranieri. And it doesn't stop tonight. Big time college
00:17basketball card. You say sometimes like, well, wait a second. Who are we going to talk about tonight? Arizona, Duke?
00:21No, no, no, no. Come on, man. Let's start. Northern Iowa and Belmont is the place to be tonight. This
00:25game, Joe, going to take place as a five and a half point favorite at home for Belmont and a
00:30total of 137 and a half. We love to talk about matchups. How about the most efficient offense in conference
00:35play is Belmont. How about the most efficient defense in conference play is Northern Iowa. How about the team with
00:40the best effective field goal percentage on offense? That's Belmont. How about the number one most effective field goal percentage
00:46on defense? That is NIU. And also the best three point shooting team in conference going up against the best
00:52defense from the three point line in conference. Joe, the spread line tonight, Northern Iowa versus Belmont offense versus defense.
01:00Yeah, the Mo Valley has long been one of the more competitive conferences on the mid-major level. And on
01:07a Thursday, it's all about the mid-majors here, Donnie. And you nailed it, right? The number one defense in
01:13the conference versus the number one offense. Now, we told you about Belmont last week going up against Bradley in
01:20their last game.
01:21And Belmont lost on the road to Bradley after beating them by double digits the first go around. They ended
01:29up losing last game. And Belmont doesn't lose very often. So it's a bounce back spot for them at home.
01:35This opened up at six last night, Donnie. We're seeing five and a half fives, even a random four and
01:43a half. So apparently the market believes defense is is in order here tonight. And don't believe that Belmont can
01:51run away with this game by more than a bucket. I doubt that's going to happen. I think Belmont, you
01:59know, three is more than two, Donnie. And nobody shoots the threes better than Belmont.
02:03No, they don't. Line them up, knock them down. We'll see if that takes place tonight. How about let's go
02:07over to the CAA Hofstra and the College of Charleston tonight. Slight favor for Hofstra on the road, Joe. Minus
02:13one and a half, depending where he's shopping at. And then also a dog price at one and a half,
02:18depending where he's shopping at. So some interesting betting patterns setting up for this one. And a total of 147
02:23and a half. The one thing I like about Hofstra, the best team in conference play on offense. They're number
02:28one in efficiency here. They shoot the three point shot. They're extremely good at the free throw.
02:32And also, Joe, one of the best offensive rebounding teams in conference play. I haven't bet Hofstra since 2017, 2018
02:38with Rokos Goosties out there. What gives today on the spread line with Hofstra in the College of Charleston?
02:44You know, you're right, Donnie, because Hofstra is and has been what many people consider to be the best team
02:50in the CAA.
02:52But usually once we get the tournament time there with the CAA tournament, yeah, they usually end up falling short.
03:00And, you know, North Carolina Wilmington usually ends up taking it down.
03:04But yeah, Charleston's an interesting team this season because two of their best players were hurt to start the season.
03:12So they just started getting them back.
03:14So this is not exactly the same team that they were a month ago. So it's going to be interesting.
03:20We saw this with kind of a pick them price overnight. We're starting to see a little bit more money
03:26towards College of Charleston this morning.
03:29The home team, listen, home court matters in these CAA games, right? These mid majors.
03:34And right now the market having a hard time figuring out is Hofstra really the best team in the conference?
03:40We're going to find that out here tonight. But College of Charleston, they are finally healthy, Donnie, and have their
03:47full starting crew ready to go tonight against Hofstra.
03:50The Metro Atlantic, Joe, just re-upped in Atlantic City for the conference tournaments.
03:54Let's talk a little Metro Atlantic action tonight. Maris is going to take on Merrimack.
03:58Merrimack is the favorite, Joe. Minus three and a half as it sits this morning at a total of 130
04:03and a half.
04:04Why is that? Maris plays great defense here. How about a 93.3 rating in efficiency on defense here?
04:10The best in conference play. They love to defend the three-point line as well.
04:13But here's the issue that you might have. Merrimack, the best team in conference play, getting to the free throw
04:18line.
04:18And Maris fouls at 11th of 13 teams in conference play. Maybe there's a path to the free throw line.
04:24But Merrimack at home, Joe, is the favorite by three and a half. What's that spread line here?
04:28The MAAC. Not the Miami of Ohio MAAC, but the M-A-A-C conference here.
04:37With Merrimack being very much the best team so far this year. I don't think it's actually close.
04:45But that doesn't mean that they are going to run away with anything here.
04:49Because Maris grades out actually better than Merrimack in a lot of metrics here.
04:55So this is going to be the best game of the conference and is going to go a long way
05:00in deciding who is that best team in this conference here.
05:04Right now, I saw Merrimack lay in one overnight. You just showed it there. Now up to three and a
05:11half, even four.
05:12So the Merrimack money is coming in early in this game. But do not be shocked if Maris holds their
05:19own.
05:19And actually, this is the first big upset of the night here, Donnie, with Maris taking down Merrimack in Merrimack.
05:27How about this? Is this a coincidence?
05:29Yeah, it's the early line. That's no coincidence. We're here Monday, Thursday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
05:33It's Joe Renier. It's Donnie Wright. So I have the same boys that do the show each and every day.
05:37Syracuse's AD goes, man, this ain't working out. We're bad in football. We're bad in basketball. I'm going to dip
05:41out.
05:41Then Syracuse drops 107 points in a double overtime game to knock off Cal.
05:47Most points they've scored since joining the ACC since 2013 here.
05:51New direction for the AD. Basketball dropping a century mark there. I'd love to see it.
05:57Yeah, but Adrian Autry's time is coming to a close there at Syracuse as well.
06:02So I would expect some new faces there, not only in the AD office, but on the basketball court as
06:12well.
06:13It's just it has not been a good run for Syracuse. Both football and basketball, Donnie, not good here.
06:20Help me out with this next one, Joe, because I think I need some help.
06:23I have opinions and like I didn't know this was happening until we were in the commercial break.
06:26And I like to get a read on of some of the graphics that are going to pop up.
06:29Now, I like to take this back to like the courts now that we have, we know they're digitally contained
06:34through TV.
06:35It used to be where you'd watch an NHL game like, OK, the boards in the arena were the boards
06:39that you'd see on TV.
06:40Now it's an endless stream of ridiculous AI, like attention grabbing away from the actual events itself on the ice.
06:48And sometimes it's hard to watch. And I remember there was a time not in hockey where we were at
06:53a final four national championship game.
06:55And the LED ribbons around the arena were so bright that they were flashing off of the court.
07:00And there were so many complaints on social media that the social media complaints made it to the network and
07:06they shut the LED ribbons off around the arena.
07:09So now let's level up once again, Joe.
07:12The Big 12 will become the first organization in the United States to use ASB glass floors LED courts for
07:20official competition.
07:22Both of the league's conference tournaments will be played on glass courts.
07:26I can't wait till we have a game that's like, hey, we can't play it and we're postponed because the
07:30court's too slick or the lights don't work on the court.
07:34We're doing too much, Joe. We are.
07:36All right. It's we're over the top, Donnie.
07:40It's absolutely over the top.
07:42And you know it's going to end in total disaster, right?
07:45You just know it's going to be.
07:47So somebody is going to get hurt.
07:49Something is not going to go right here.
07:52Somebody is going to get blinded.
07:54Somebody it's just, you know, you're just opening up Pandora's box here for no reason.
07:59Oh, wait, there is a reason, Donnie.
08:01It's all about the money.
08:03By the way, like a house, because I'm trying to figure out how it works.
08:06Like I'm assuming like the LEDs we built, because you can see the graphic here, like maybe the three point
08:11line.
08:11Of course, you're going to have the brightest ads you can possibly have on the floor that are lighting up
08:16as if you can't see them already on TV.
08:19But I don't know what the concept actually is.
08:21Like we're going to have a really cool like appearance before the game.
08:23We're going to have an LED show on the court.
08:25Or is it just, Joe, the LED lights are going to illuminate the court as the players play?
08:30Like we don't need that.
08:32No, again, we don't, unless there's some sort of sponsorship, you know, with it there that's going to continue to
08:40generate the revenue stream.
08:42It's the only reason that they do this is strictly what else?
08:47How much more money can we squeeze out of people here?
08:50And that's exactly what they're doing.
08:52That's exactly what this is all about.
08:54You know what?
08:55I actually have a vision of like if I could, because I don't think they're just having LED lights like
08:59make the, you know,
09:00the Big 12 logo, like very bright during the game.
09:03I got a feeling, Joe, that this glass court is actually going to be like translucent,
09:08where it's like during the commercial break, they can take the court off like the striping,
09:13like with the lights, and just have ads run consistently like during the break at that point.
09:17Where like a three-point shot goes down, the player's face like appears on the court with like a signature
09:21under it here.
09:22But wait for this.
09:23We're having a delay in the second half.
09:25Wait, there's three minutes left.
09:26The game is tied here in the Big 12 Championship game.
09:28The three-point line lights are out on each court.
09:31We're going to have to take a TV timeout to figure this out.
09:34You know that's coming, Joe.
09:35You know it.
09:36Yeah.
09:36Oh, it absolutely is, Donnie.
09:39And it won't be long for somebody can hack into it and put their own thing on.
09:43You know it's coming here, Donnie.
09:44It's a train wreck waiting to happen.
09:47And all in the name of how, you know, how much more sponsor money can we get?
09:52That's it.
09:52That's all this is about.
09:53It's unreal.
09:54Yeah, again, they didn't put the LED boards, the ribbons in the arenas because they look cool when you scored
09:59a goal.
09:59They put it in because they can run constant ads the entire game, which is having one box for the
10:04season here.
10:04Let's get over to this.
10:05And I love this.
10:06The SEC, are there rivalries?
10:08Sure, there are.
10:08But Alabama and Auburn, you know, state rivalry here.
10:11Hate them in basketball.
10:13Hate them even more in football.
10:14How about this quote from Bruce Pearl, which I get a kick out of.
10:16Nate said he played Bidiaco a hundred times again.
10:19What that tells me is Nate doesn't really care about the SEC and doesn't care about the NCAA.
10:24And it's fine.
10:25You're just going to care about your student athletes here.
10:27That's fine.
10:28So I won't read the rest of it.
10:30But anytime you get a chance to poke a hole in a coach of another team here, you're always going
10:34to do it.
10:35Retired or not, Joe.
10:38Absolutely, you're going to do it.
10:39And listen, he took a lot of heat for even taking the, you know, taking him on the team.
10:45And it was, you know, hey, hate the, you know, hate the game.
10:48Don't hate the player or the coach in this situation, right?
10:51Well, he's doubling down all over the place, Donnie, which is hysterical to me.
10:56But that's okay.
10:57I keep playing him.
10:59I keep doing it.
11:00So he has no regrets.
11:02All right.
11:03And we'll see how that rolls for you.
11:05Let's talk Big Ten basketball because you can't have a bite of the apple and then spit it back out
11:09and say, oh, give me a refund back.
11:11Here's what I'm saying with the Big Ten, Joe.
11:13Like they're trying to get a student issue, a student athlete issues commission together.
11:17It's going to send a letter to the NCAA that says, we don't want our student athletes absolutely involved in
11:22proposition bets.
11:23I got news for you today.
11:25Hey, college, here's what you need to do.
11:27Don't pay the players.
11:28Give them five years to play for.
11:30And also, you'll take away the prop bets.
11:31But also, you want to know as well, it's like, hey, the distribution was like $90 million per school.
11:38Why is it $9 million?
11:39Because if there's no gambling, nobody is watching your games anymore.
11:43Gambling is the facilitator of why your players are getting paid, coaches are making $10 million, and the revenue is
11:50going higher and higher due to ratings.
11:52Go ahead and bite the hand that feeds you.
11:53I would love to see it.
11:55Yeah, or here's a better one.
11:57Like, how about you recruit student athletes who aren't so easily influenced or corrupted?
12:03How's that?
12:04Maybe a little personal responsibility?
12:06What do you think?
12:07I'm just saying, oh, no, we don't do that.
12:09We just got to eliminate it all instead of having any personal responsibility for anything.
12:14Like, we always have those hypotheticals, Joe.
12:16Imagine if you got a contract from the Sports Grid Network that said, Joe, we're going to pay you $5
12:21million a year.
12:22You just can't drink Pepsi.
12:24And in two days, you're like, had a Pepsi, man.
12:26Couldn't do it here.
12:27Like, isn't it so simple?
12:28Like, hey, I played basketball at a university.
12:30For four years, I just can't bet on myself.
12:33And I'll make a million dollars in NIL per year.
12:36Oops, me and the boys made 50 bucks on a parlay last night.
12:39Ruined my million dollar policy.
12:41Make it make sense, I like to say.
12:43It doesn't make sense.
12:44Just keep it simple.
12:45Not stupid.
12:46Let's take it over to the college basketball markets here on Cal sheet.
12:49Men's March Madness, Sweet 16 qualifier.
12:52So not only the eight, not Final Four, not champion here.
12:55Just make it to the Sweet 16.
12:57The favorite, Alabama at 96%.
13:00That's interesting here.
13:01So Alabama has a higher number than Michigan and or Arizona at this point.
13:06Now, also understand this.
13:07Hey, let's get to the Sweet 16.
13:09They can do this.
13:10But also, betting before the tournament actually comes out with the seedings here, always tough.
13:15Because you could have the best team.
13:16Wait a second.
13:17They got the toughest draw.
13:19That's ridiculous here.
13:20But Alabama leads right now, Joe.
13:22Yeah, which is strange.
13:25You know, you got a lot of Alabama homers, I guess, in the marketplace there that are going to go
13:30ahead and take that contract just because it's Alabama.
13:33And it was a nice win last night, by the way, on the road for them.
13:37But, you know, we know you got to be in it to win it, right?
13:40So they're likely going to be in it.
13:42But where is Florida in that mess there?
13:47Florida is 79%.
13:49So a yes wager investment of $100 pays back $143, Joe.
13:54And again, not to make a Final Four bet.
13:56No, that means you win two basketball games.
13:58And you're there.
14:00Yep.
14:01And listen, which sounds easy, right?
14:04But we've seen that sometimes it isn't.
14:06But I would certainly just concentrate on who you think are going to be the top two seeds in each
14:13bracket, right?
14:14And come up with the eight best teams, Donnie, and just go ahead and hammer them because they're both likely
14:19in each bracket to get to the Sweet 16.
14:27Let it be known, Joe, where are we headed tonight for our best bet on a Thursday?
14:32Well, the Govs got it done for us last night.
14:35So we'll go back to college tonight.
14:37And the number one over team in the country is Denver.
14:42They are at home taking on South Dakota.
14:45There is absolutely no reason to sweat out an under here.
14:49South Dakota State and Denver played to 166 points last game.
14:54You can get them from 157.5 this game.
14:57This thing goes over again tonight, Donnie.
