00:00This is one of my grandmother's favorite cakes.
00:01You're never gonna believe what's inside.
00:03It's a finger sandwich tea loaf.
00:04My grandmother used to make a thousand tea sandwiches
00:07and then assemble them together.
00:08But my mom had the great idea
00:09of starting with a whole loaf of bread.
00:11The goal of this is you wanna cut the crust off
00:13and get it into a nice, clean, rectangular shape.
00:15So you wanna get three even slices out of each loaf.
00:18And they're not perfect,
00:18but my grandmother's not here to watch or judge,
00:20so they don't have to be perfect, I guess.
00:22All right, this is my first time putting it together.
00:25Cream cheese with pineapple.
00:26It was the 50s and 60s.
00:28They put crushed pineapple in everything.
00:29Ham salad.
00:31I mean, that was big.
00:31People love it.
00:32Can you have a southern sandwich loaf
00:34if you don't have egg salad?
00:36Next up, the southern spread that's always in attendance.
00:38Pimento cheese.
00:39Finally, because you can't have enough meat salad,
00:41chicken salad.
00:42This is nothing but cream cheese
00:44that's been whipped until it's nice and soft,
00:46so it'll go on smoother.
00:47My grandmother served these for her ladies' luncheons.
00:49It's a conversation piece.
00:50That's absolutely what this is.
00:52Look at all these layers.
00:53Let's taste it.
00:54I mean, there's nothing not to love here.
00:55It's all delicious.
00:56I think she'd be proud.
