00:00Should you actually leave your washer door open after each wash?
00:03The laundry room has the potential to be one of the grossest rooms in your house,
00:07which seems kind of crazy since it's a room dedicated to cleaning.
00:10But because of the warm moisture in the air, it's prone to mildew, mold, and odor.
00:15So, should you leave the washer door closed to prevent these things from getting inside?
00:20Actually, no.
00:21Leaving the washer door open after use allows it to dry completely,
00:25which prevents mildew and mold and the funky odors that go with those from forming.
00:30Not only that, letting your washer dry out completely before you close it also helps it last longer
00:35since moisture left inside could cause it to rust or corrode more quickly.
00:39This goes to top and front loading machines.
00:42And while top loaders are less prone to these types of problems, better to be safe than sorry.
