01:59Now, Inside Edition with Eva Pilgrim.
02:03Hello and thanks for joining us.
02:05He's the most wanted man in America.
02:06But this delivery driver says that's not him.
02:09He was dramatically detained by investigators working on the Nancy Guthrie case.
02:14Pulled over.
02:15Guns drawn.
02:16Put in cuffs.
02:17His home ransacked.
02:19But as Jim Marais reports, he told them they had the wrong guy.
02:23And apparently, he's right.
02:26He's the wrong guy.
02:27This bewildered delivery driver was detained for eight hours in connection with the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie.
02:34But he says he never even heard of Nancy or her famous TV anchor daughter, Savannah.
02:39How do you feel right now?
02:40How are you doing?
02:41Not so good.
02:42My family's terrified right now.
02:43Had you heard of Nancy Guthrie or Savannah Guthrie?
02:45Carlos Palazuelo says he was out making a DoorDash food delivery with his wife on Highway 19 when he saw cops following him.
02:53So he pulled over.
02:55They had guns drawn?
02:55Did they tell you why the guns were drawn?
02:58The traffic stop happened in Rio Rico, 10 miles from the Mexican border and 60 miles south of Tucson, where Nancy Guthrie was abducted.
03:06Rio Rico is a small rural town, population 19,000.
03:11While Carlos was in police custody, his home here in Rio Rico was raided by law enforcement.
03:17They also searched his other vehicle, this delivery van.
03:20Did they damage your home at all?
03:22Yeah.
03:22They broke the door of this one.
03:23Did they ransack the home at all?
03:25Yes, they did.
03:26They went through all the...
03:27Yes, they did.
03:27His stunned mother-in-law says police told her they were actually searching for Nancy Guthrie inside her home.
03:34According to reports, they were executing a search warrant signed by a judge.
03:38They told him, you can go in and search for health.
03:40There's nobody there.
03:41I have nothing to hide.
03:42So why did cops zero in on Carlos Palazuelos?
03:46He says it was an anonymous tip and that someone reported that he looked like the mass suspect at Nancy Guthrie's the night she was kidnapped.
03:54But they thought you looked like that person in the video?
03:56That's what they told my mother-in-law.
03:57They said that my eyes and my eyelashes look the same.
04:00He says after eight hours, cops told him he was clear, but his name and image have gone worldwide.
04:07Today, he wants an apology.
04:09The Guthrie family says they have no idea who that massed man is captured on surveillance video.
04:16So who is he?
04:18This is a digitally enhanced version of what was released by the FBI.
04:23The technology allows you to see the suspect's facial features more clearly.
04:27It's a striking new image of the kidnapped suspect at the home of Savannah Guthrie's mom.
04:33It was created by Internet sleuths using a technique called reverse infrared technology and shows features like eyebrows, flesh, and parts of a mustache.
04:43The FBI continues to harvest the 44-second video of the intruder for every possible clue.
04:49You can be sure that they are working on, if you will, a composite based on the eyes, based on the mouth.
04:54We do think we see a mustache. Perhaps there's a beard under that mask as well.
04:58Using the bricks on Nancy's front entrance as a guide, experts believe the suspect's height is 5'9 to 5'11.
05:06His weight, up to 230 pounds.
05:09His shoes appear large, possibly a size 12, based on the size of the tiles.
05:14His clothes are also producing intriguing clues.
05:17That ski mask has unique stitching.
05:19Notice the seams around the eyes and mouth.
05:21It's just like this mask, which can be bought for $22.
05:25The holster isn't fancy at all.
05:28It's made of nylon and sells at sporting goods stores in Tucson, also for $22.
05:33Several firearms experts say he's armed with what appears to be a 9-millimeter handgun, possibly a Glock.
05:39And those gloves are made of a synthetic rubber called nitrile.
05:43Nitrile gloves like these are often worn by plumbers and gas station employees
05:47because they don't disintegrate when they come in contact with oil and other chemicals.
05:51We bought a pack of 100 of these for just $10.
05:55And they look very similar to the ones worn by the intruder.
05:58And the flashlight he held in his mouth?
06:00We bought a similar one for $30.
06:03The backpack is also drawing a lot of attention.
06:06Internet sleuths say it may be an Ozark brand, which has similar straps and reflective bands.
06:11Unfortunately, the infrared video does not reveal color.
06:15Forensic video analyst Connor McCourt tells our Allison Hall.
06:19That jacket may appear gray in this video.
06:22It's not necessarily gray.
06:24Right.
06:24So with infrared cameras, black and white cameras, it can invert the color.
06:29A light-colored jacket in the video could be a black jacket.
06:33It could be a red jacket.
06:35It could be a blue jacket.
06:36Authorities are paying attention to the suspected kidnapper's gait.
06:39The way he walks is potentially a vital clue.
06:42There is technology that is directly aimed at identifying people based upon the way they move and walk.
06:49That signature is as powerful as facial recognition.
06:53His calm, unhurried demeanor is drawing attention.
06:56He's familiar with this house either because he's been there before or because somebody told him about where that camera was
07:03and that he wouldn't have to worry about anybody coming up on him during this abduction.
07:09And look, lights behind him may suggest there's a getaway car.
07:13Could he have an accomplice behind the wheel?
07:15FBI agents are out in force in Tucson today going door-to-door searching for anything that may lead them to Savannah's mom.
07:23Now missing for 11 days.
07:25And late today, another possible break.
07:27Investigators reportedly finding a black glove on the roadside a mile and a half from Nancy Guthrie's home.
07:34It's said to resemble the pair of gloves worn by the suspect seen in the surveillance video.
07:40The last 24 hours of developments in the investigation have come at rapid speed.
07:45The story has definitely touched a nerve with millions coast-to-coast all waiting for news about the woman now being called America's mom.
07:54We have some breaking news in the search for Nancy Guthrie.
07:58Just after noon came word that something big is about to break.
08:03Law enforcement is expected to release a surveillance photo of a potential subject in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping.
08:09This is chilling.
08:1012.55. The images are released.
08:13We have just gotten the first of these photos in, and I think it's important as quickly as we can to get this on the air.
08:2120 minutes later, we learn it's not just photos, there's video.
08:26This is a massive, massive break, a massive lead.
08:30Up until this moment, the Guthrie family, the FBI, and the Pima County Sheriff had really very little to go on.
08:39Even the White House is taking notice.
08:41I apologize for the delay. I was once again with the president.
08:44He and I were both reviewing the newly released surveillance footage from FBI.
08:49For the rest of the day, every detail is analyzed and dissected.
08:54Ask yourself tonight if you recognize anything at all about this person's movements.
08:58The network evening news shows get the word out.
09:02This has just been an extraordinary series of developments today.
09:059 p.m. Cops in Tucson are on the move.
09:08The Senate has confirmed now that a regional SWAT team and a bomb squad unit is on mission right now in Pima County.
09:159.40. The news everyone is waiting for.
09:18The biggest news of a big breaking news night.
09:22A person has been detained in connection with the Nancy Guthrie case.
09:29He's being detained. He's being questioned.
09:31But at 3 a.m., a stunning development.
09:34He's not the one.
09:36I hope they get the suspect because I'm not it.
09:39A day of nail-biting drama ends in a dead end.
09:43A law enforcement spokesperson says over the last 24 hours, they have received more than 4,000 calls to their tip line.
09:50More edge-of-your-seat action at the Winter Olympics where skiers had some company on the slopes.
09:56Drones.
09:57It's a game-changer, giving us a closer look at the athletes' intensity and speed.
10:03What is that object in the sky following the downhill racer?
10:08It's a drone, and it's capturing every twist and turn.
10:13You can see them and hear them.
10:16Here's a drone along the luge track.
10:19And they're giving views of the Olympics never before seen in all these years of TV coverage.
10:25Roaring sound of the drone following, which has been a game-changer.
10:29Drones also gave a bird's-eye view of the cross-country sprint.
10:33An American hasn't won a medal in cross-country skiing in half a century.
10:38Until now.
10:39The announcers could not contain their glee.
10:4250 years in the making.
10:45Ben Ogden across the line.
10:46Silver.
10:47Manifest destiny for Ben Ogden.
10:49Back home in Vermont where Ben Ogden lives.
10:52Total jubilation.
10:54And that's his happy mom on the stands in Italy,
10:58giving him a big hug and checking out his new silver medal.
11:02Oh, and check out what Ogden did to celebrate.
11:06Back flip off the podium.
11:08He wasn't the only one flipping out.
11:10Skating sensation Ilya Malinan did it again last night
11:14as he came out on top in the short program of men's figure skating.
11:19The so-called quad god goes for gold on Friday.
11:22And we've told you how skier Lindsay Vaughn's dreams of an Olympic comeback
11:29were dashed after crashing in a downhill event.
11:32Now we're seeing the first image of her in the hospital.
11:36She had her third surgery today.
11:38You can see the large metal brace holding her leg in place.
11:42Lindsay says she's making progress slowly and cheering for Team USA as she recovers.
11:48That's actress Blake Lively arriving to court today in her ongoing battle with her
11:52It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni.
11:56Lively has accused him of sexual harassment on the set.
11:59As Ann McCogliano reports,
12:01this is the first time the two have been face-to-face since the drama started.
12:05It's the eagerly awaited showdown as Blake Lively arrives at court.
12:12Flanked by her lawyers, the actress wore an olive green double-breasted power suit
12:16with a pink striped button-up shirt.
12:18Her look is strikingly similar to her foe, actor and director Justin Baldoni,
12:24who wore a green coat with a pink scarf.
12:27Justin.
12:27He arrived hand-in-hand with his wife, Emily.
12:30It's the first time Lively and Baldoni have come face-to-face
12:34since the start of their blockbuster legal battle.
12:37Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are inside federal court here in New York City
12:41for a court-ordered settlement conference.
12:44The goal is for the actors to hash out their differences,
12:47put an end to their messy legal battle, and avoid going to trial.
12:52So, will it work?
12:54There's benefits to settling for Baldoni and Lively
12:57because this trial is going to be a very public affair.
12:59All the salacious details, the allegations are going to be out there in open court.
13:04You may see these A-listers reluctantly coming in to testify,
13:08but if they settle, they could do it confidentially, quietly,
13:11and there won't be that public affair.
13:14It's been over a year since Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment
13:18on the set of her 2024 hit film, It Ends With Us.
13:22According to her complaint, Baldoni improvised physical intimacy
13:26that had not been rehearsed, choreographed, or discussed.
13:30No, no, no, stop.
13:32And some sad news.
13:34Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek has died.
13:37The news comes after his very public battle with colorectal cancer.
13:41Now his family is sharing details about his final days.
13:44Here's Allison Hall.
13:45Heartbreaking news.
13:48Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek has lost his brave two-year battle with colon cancer.
13:54You're an inspiration to so many people, man.
13:56You know that?
13:56James Van Der Beek has passed away.
13:59His wife just shared the news.
14:01He passed peacefully this morning,
14:03and he met his final days with courage, faith, and grace.
14:07This was his last message to his fans on social media, posted two weeks ago.
14:13A photo with his daughter, Annabelle, celebrating her 12th birthday.
14:17He has six kids with his wife, Kimberly.
14:19His last public appearance came in December
14:21when he opened up about his health on the Today Show.
14:25As soon as I heard the news, I thought,
14:26this is going to be the best thing that ever happened to me.
14:29Really?
14:29Yeah.
14:30Cancer?
14:31Cancer.
14:32Best thing.
14:32Best thing.
14:33I had this little voice in my head that said,
14:35you're going to make changes.
14:36The actor was diagnosed with stage three colorectal cancer in 2023
14:41after a routine colonoscopy.
14:43He never shied away from talking about the illness,
14:46encouraging others to get screened.
14:49Colon cancer, it's increasing in those,
14:51particularly individuals under the age of 50.
14:54Van Der Beek rose to fame in the late 1990s
14:57on the teen drama Dawson's Creek,
14:59which also launched the careers of Katie Holmes
15:01and Michelle Williams.
15:03At a cast reunion held last September
15:05to raise money for his health care,
15:07he was compelled to drop out,
15:09appearing instead in a taped message.
15:12I can't believe I'm not there.
15:14I can't believe I don't get to hug my castmates.
15:18The former teen star who helped define a generation
15:21is gone at age 48.
15:23And his family getting on stage singing the Dawson's Creek theme song
15:27at the reunion is more poignant than ever.

17:59The kidnapping of Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy,
18:05has everyone rethinking their own home security systems.
18:08Do you have enough cameras?
18:10Are you using them correctly?
18:12Steven Fabian has important safety tips you need to know.
18:16The terrifying video of the armed suspect
18:19at Nancy Guthrie's front door
18:21has everyone across the USA in a state of real concern.
18:25Home improvement expert Jason Cameron
18:27showed us how easy it could be
18:29to kick down a front door.
18:32That was way too easy.
18:34That's ridiculous.
18:35Your front door is also your first line of defense.
18:39And there are things you can do
18:41to help turn it into a fortress.
18:44Start with what's called the strike plate.
18:46That makes it difficult to kick in the door.
18:48We've got six screws here
18:50that are in the framing
18:51and we also have a much larger strike plate.
18:54And don't use small screws.
18:56Use three-inch ones, which are much stronger.
19:00Also, consider a reinforcement lock
19:02that secures the door from the inside.
19:05This is where they're going to kick.
19:06So you want this at the point of impact.
19:08This is rated for 800 pounds of force.
19:10You want to stop that force?
19:11Put it where the kick's going to happen.
19:1276-year-old Mary says
19:14she has been closely watching
19:16the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping story.
19:18She thought she was safe.
19:20I've been thinking I'm safe,
19:21but obviously now is the time
19:24to put major improvements on my home.
19:27She met with security expert Guy Cohen
19:30of Secure-It Homes
19:31to see if her home in Los Angeles
19:33is vulnerable to a break-in.
19:35Even though she has a Nest doorbell camera
19:37like Nancy Guthrie,
19:38he says it's not enough.
19:40What I would recommend in this case
19:42is installing a hardwired camera
19:44with a monitoring service.
19:45He says her windows
19:47should also be reinforced.
19:49We would recommend this safety film
19:50that is 100% clear.
19:52It goes on the glass.
19:53And essentially, if someone tries to get in
19:54and break the window,
19:56they're contending with
19:57a reinforced piece of glass.
19:58Looking around inside her home,
20:00Cohen found other ways
20:02to enhance Mary's security.
20:03Inside the home,
20:04we can install special cameras
20:05that have an audio sensor
20:07that if you yell,
20:08it'll start recording
20:09and it'll send that notification
20:10to the rest of your family members.
20:12At another house,
20:13he showed her how a laser alarm would work.
20:15It shoots across the grass
20:17and in a second,
20:18you're going to hear an alarm.
20:19So that's what it sounds like.
20:21Wow.
20:22A device that could have come in handy
20:23for Nancy Guthrie.
20:26Research shows roughly 24% of Americans
20:28aged 65 and older
20:29have some kind of home security system.
20:32When we come back,
20:33you'll never guess
20:34who was just spotted at the supermarket.
20:36Royal Match.
20:39Honey, have you seen this minigame
20:41in Royal Match?
20:42Wait, that's Royal Match?
20:44I thought this was a new game.
20:46There are a lot more minigames
20:47since you quit.
20:48Look.
20:50Okay, I don't remember
20:51so many minigames.
20:52Also, for the record,
20:53I didn't quit.
20:54I was taking a strategic break.
20:55Uh-huh.
20:55Well, while you were strategically breaking,
20:57I was saving the king.
20:59Well, I guess I got to make my comeback
21:00and beat you at your own game.
21:02Good luck.
