00:00Scottish Labour leader Anna Sarwar became the most senior Labour voice so far, calling for Starmer's resignation.
00:07Sarwar said too many mistakes have been made in Downing Street and that it was a time for a change.
00:13Labour MPs and Cabinet ministers rallied around the Prime Minister yesterday evening,
00:18but there is no doubt that his leadership has been perhaps fatally weakened.
00:24Starmer's approval ratings have crashed to around minus 50, historically low for a UK leader.
00:31So we're going to start with you, Paul.
00:34So when the majority of voters disapprove of his performance,
00:39and now with the leadership crisis linked to the Epstein files, how can staying really be the right thing to
00:46do?
00:47Well, the answer is that we don't elect our Prime Ministers through opinion polls.
00:52We choose a candidate in our constituency and whichever party gets the most MPs in the Parliament gets to choose
01:00its leader.
01:01And the Labour Party has chosen and then reinforced this week at the Parliamentary Labour Party meeting its support for
01:10Keir Starmer.
01:11So he is the Prime Minister and he's in a stronger position this week than he was a few days
01:18ago
01:19because of this overwhelming support he's had from his members of Parliament and also members of his Cabinet
01:25and I would argue too members of his party.
01:28I would Saban.
