00:09But at both public engagements he's had today, there have been protesters who have been able to identify where he's
00:15going and get there ahead of time.
00:17Earlier this morning outside Government House, there were around a dozen protesters that had to be kept at bay by
00:22Victoria Police.
00:23And now you can see behind me we have maybe two, three dozen, maybe a little bit more protesters that
00:29have gathered here.
00:30The message going out on social media to come down and show their support for the Palestinian cause and criticise
00:37the Israeli President's arrival and tour of Australia.
00:41Meanwhile over here we have a smaller contingent of pro-Israel supporters, protesters coming out here welcoming Isaac Herzog.
00:52Now he's at a large community event just behind this large police barrier with a capacity around 1500 people and
01:02it is packed.
01:03This is a community event that is bringing together many members of the Melbourne Jewish community.
01:09Of course the key reason why he's here in Australia is the Bondi terrorist attack.
01:14But there have been plenty of incidents of anti-Semitism and attacks against the Jewish community that have gotten a
01:20lot of attention in recent years.
01:22There was the firebombing of the Adas Israel Synagogue in 2024 last year.
01:28Another synagogue was also attacked.
01:31Its doors set alight while there were 20 people inside.
01:34These are some of the incidents that have been getting media attention in recent years.
01:38So for those attending this event this is a key moment to really bring the community together and listen to
01:44his message of support for this community.
01:47But of course on the other side of it you have these protesters who say that this is a man
01:52who should not have been invited to Australia.
01:54He's the political head of a state that has inflicted gross and prolonged pain against the Palestinian people.
