00:00How's it going? It's going great. How are you? Good. So low. How is it going?
00:05What's the secret? I didn't just pick up. Well, you know, I want to start because I was at the
00:11African-American Film Critics Association luncheon Sunday and Ryan spoke so highly of you and gave
00:16you your flowers in front of everyone. What did that mean for you in that moment to hear how he
00:20felt? It was excellent. It was great. How you doing? It's you. That's my guy right there.
00:30I worked exclusively for Jerry for four years. He changed my life. But it was great because
00:36you know what? That's the kind of production centers was. It was absolutely great. We
00:40were, you know, as a unit, it felt like we had all worked together as often as he and Mike
00:46had. And he has a gift of humility that brings the best out of people, myself included. So,
00:55yeah.
00:55I mean, you talked about you saving him, you know, during that table read. I'm curious,
00:59was there someone like early in your career? You're like, he saved me in that moment. Maybe
01:03Jerry, you just talked about kind of Jerry.
01:05No. Well, that, that thing was just a quick improv thing, but it's a, uh, just having these
01:11opportunities. When you get that chance, you do your best because somebody always has to
01:15pull you up. Nobody does it alone. And so we all wanted Ryan to succeed and he did, you
01:21know what I mean? And so now I'm here on the carpet with you keeping it quiet.
01:31Well, I saw at the luncheon every, some people, yes. People had these centers pins with like
01:38artwork. Do you know the story behind those? Like who made them?
01:41I know nothing about that, but I know that there's some awesome artists that have done
01:44some crazy fan art and some, some specific merch. There's a woman named Kashmir. You can
01:49go look her up. She's got a bunch of t-shirts that she made with like fake juke posters that
01:53have t-shirts on them for like, like you went to the concert. It's great. Yeah. Let me ask you,
02:00we've been talking to everyone and asking them like, what is kind of the most unexpected moment
02:04you've had in your career in totality? If you could think of that on the spot, I know, which is
02:09hot. That's 20 plus years. Exactly. But I tell you one of them, I'll give you two of them. One
02:14was I
02:14went to the craft service table when we were in Detroit for eight mile and Dr. Dre was there. And
02:18I was
02:19like, I grew up here. So that meant a lot. And that was like my first, you know, complete experience
02:25with superstardom. That whole experience with Marshall and Dre and everybody else that was
02:29involved. And the second was on the set of centers, an alligator walked onto the set.
02:35That was pretty surprising. You know, when we told me, she was like, there was a snake wrangler. And
02:40I was like scared. Like, why are you here? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's a reptile wrangler. And it
02:44wasn't for snakes. Snakes were the least of our worry. It was snakes, but it was alligators. We shot,
02:48on a bayou. So shooting on a bayou has its pros and cons. Risked your life. That's what I did.
02:54You did. But tell me Leslie, what are you doing after? Are you going on vacation? How are you
03:00going to spend your post? No, it's time to go back to work. I've been, I've been promoting the film
03:04now for about a year. It's time to go back to work.
