A 35-year-old driver who rammed into five other vehicles, killing a motorcyclist at the Padang Jambu traffic light junction in Bukit Baru, Melaka, has been remanded for four days.

00:00A 35-year-old man has been remanded for four days following a multi-vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist at the Padang Jambu traffic light junction in Bukit Baru, Melaka, on Tuesday afternoon.
00:20The remand order was issued by Magistrate Uthman Abdul Ghani to facilitate investigations. Dashcam footage captured the shocking moment at around 2pm when a Parodwa Maivi suddenly veered across into the opposite lane, slamming into vehicles waiting at the red light. The violent collision involved six vehicles in total, three motorcycles and three cars.
00:43The impact claimed the life of 44-year-old Mohamed Shahrol Anwar Maadrobi, a father of four, who was pronounced dead at the scene from severe head and body injuries.
00:57According to sources, Mohamed Shahrol was on his way to pick up his child, who has disabilities, from school when the tragedy occurred.
01:04Melaka Tengah District Police Chief ACP, Christopher Petit, said initial investigations found that the driver is believed to have dozed off at the wheel before crossing into oncoming traffic.
01:18However, urine and breath screening tests on the driver came back negative for both drugs and alcohol.
01:25Four others, including the suspect, were injured in the crash.
01:28The case is being investigated under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act, 1987, for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
