Police say a six-vehicle collision along Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur last Friday (Feb 6) was caused by a two-year-old child accidentally opening the rear door of a moving car.

00:01Police have traced a six-vehicle collision along Jalantun Razak last Friday

00:09Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief, ACP Mohamad Zamzuri, Mohamad Isa,
00:16said the crash occurred at about 6.15 p.m., involving four cars and two motorcycles
00:21travelling from the Kampung Pandan roundabout towards the Petronas Twin Towers .
00:27Preliminary investigations found that a two-year-old girl seated on a relative's lap in the rear passenger seat
00:32suddenly opened the left rear door, which did not have the child safety lock engaged.
00:37A Suzuki V-Strom SX rider, who was travelling between lanes, was unable to avoid the open door
00:44and crashed into it before losing control and colliding with several other vehicles.
00:49A second motorcyclist riding a CFMoto 675NK behind him was also unable to avoid the crash and became involved.
00:56The 25-year-old Suzuki rider suffered a fractured left arm and is receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital,
01:03while the 30-year-old CFMoto rider sustained minor injuries.
01:08The drivers of the four cars involved in the accident were not injured.
01:12The case is being investigated under Section 43 Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
