00:01A suspected drunk driver behind the wheel of a luxury SUV ploughed into a van carrying six
00:06people, including a child in Kajang early Tuesday morning. District Police Chief ACP Nazron Abdul
00:13Yusof said a 51-year-old man allegedly lost control of his vehicle on Jalan Pintasan Kajang
00:18Semenyi at around 1.20am. The SUV slammed into the rear of a van, sending it flipping onto the
00:25left road shoulder. Inside the van were six people, a driver and five passengers ranging in age from
00:31just seven years old to 51. All six were injured in the crash and are now being treated at Kajang
00:37Hospital and Serdang Hospital. The SUV driver, however, walked away without a scratch. ACP Nazron
00:44said the man tested positive for alcohol and has been remanded for two days to assist with
00:48investigations under section 44, subsection 1A of the Road Transport Act 1987. The Kajang
00:55crash comes just two days after a tragic drunk driving incident in Klang last Sunday, where
00:59a motorcyclist was killed after being struck by an intoxicated driver. That case sent shockwaves
01:05through the community. And now, with Tuesday's incident, questions are once again mounting over
01:10whether enough is being done to keep drunk drivers off Malaysian roads.
