A total of 7,919 littering notices have been issued nationwide in the first five months of this year, SWCorp chief executive officer Khalid Mohamed said, with 62% involving locals and 38% foreigners.

In Johor alone, 1,418 notices were recorded, with 95% linked to cigarette butt littering.

00:13Chief Executive Officer Khalid Mohamed, of those were 5,708 locals and 2,211 foreigners
00:22across states under SW Corp enforcement areas.
00:26In Johor alone, 1,418 notices have been issued as of Friday,
00:32with about 95% of offences in the state involving cigarette butt littering.
00:38Khalid said this after the ninth series of the Community Service Order Programme
00:43at a recreation park in Kulai on Saturday,
00:46which involved 18 offenders comprising Malaysians, Indonesians, Singaporeans,
00:52a Bangladeshi and a Nepalese, carrying out cleaning works at the site.
00:58The offenders were court-ordered to perform community service
01:01under the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007
01:05for littering small waste items in public areas.
01:09Cleaning works covered public drains, walkways, a mosque and a food court around the park,
01:15identified as a littering hotspot in Kulai.
01:19SW Corp also recorded 15 cases involving underage offenders aged 10 to 17,
01:26with the first court case involving a 17-year-old in Negri Sembilan,
01:31set for mention on June 24.
01:33A total of 158 offenders nationwide have completed their community service sentences so far.
01:40SW Corp is working with local councils to identify litterbugs through CCTV recordings
01:47and will continue strengthening enforcement, public education and field monitoring efforts
