Tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate as President Trump warned Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei should be “very worried.” Talks that began Friday in Oman marked the first direct engagement since U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities last June. Iran’s delegation was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the U.S. team included envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Trump described the discussions as “very good,” saying Tehran appears eager for a deal but faces “steep consequences” if it refuses. Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said the meeting helped clarify both sides’ positions and identify progress. Iran maintains its nuclear program is peaceful, while Trump says he is prepared to strike if no agreement is reached.

00:00Mr. President, Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, met with Iran's foreign minister today.
00:05You also had Brad Cooper there, the head of CENTCOM.
00:07A deal doesn't look like it's been reached yet.
00:10How long are you willing to wait?
00:12It can be reached. Well, you have to get in position.
00:15We have plenty of time. If you remember Venezuela, we waited around for a while.
00:19And we're in no rush.
00:22We have, you know, very good talks with Iran.
00:24We have very good talks going with Russia and Ukraine.
00:27We're doing a lot of good talking.
00:30And I think we had the results today were with Iran.
00:35It was a meeting. We're going to meet again early next week.
00:39And they want to make a deal. Iran, as they should want to make a deal.
00:43They know the consequences. If they don't make a deal, the consequences are very steep.
00:48So we'll see what happens.
00:50But they had a very good meeting with a very high representative of Iran.
00:56And we'll see how it all turns out.
00:59We'll give it a right scoop.
01:00By the way, I'd love to see that.
01:02If we could do that, I'd love to see it.
01:05Mr. President, is there a deal that is acceptable that only covers...
01:10With Iran, is there a deal that only covers nuclear that would be acceptable to you?
01:15Because they just don't have nuclear.
01:17They don't want to have anything else.
01:18It would be acceptable.
01:19But the one thing, and right up front, no nuclear weapons.
01:24If we could have made that deal two years ago, we would have made that deal.
01:27But they weren't willing to do that.
01:29Now they are willing to do it.
01:31So they're willing to do much more than they would have a year and a half ago.
01:36Or even a year ago when we've...
01:37Don't forget, we've only been doing this for exactly one year.
01:40And we started with them a few months after the beginning of this term.
01:46This term has been amazing.
01:48But the results could surprise people.
01:52If they would have offered this deal originally when we first started,
01:58it would have been accepted immediately.
01:59We'll see what happens.
02:00Mr. President, a number of people in the MAGA base say they aren't satisfied with the administration
02:06just focusing on deporting violent criminals.
02:09Who are you with?
02:09I'm Natalie Ellison with the Washington Post.
02:12Washington.
02:13Well, you're having a hard time getting readers.
02:15Washington Post is doing very poorly.
02:17Go ahead.
02:17You have a very bad attitude.
02:19Go ahead.
02:19Well, a number of people in your base say that they want to see all illegal immigrants deported,
02:25even once we're otherwise not...
02:26Let me tell you about my base.
02:27Let me tell you about my base.
02:28My base has never been stronger.
02:30My base is me and other very good people, people that love our country.
02:35And if you talk about my base or the MAGA base, you could call it a lot of America first.
02:39They couldn't be more thrilled.
02:42We have climbed down to the lowest level that it's been in 125 years.
02:46We have a border that's totally closed.
02:49We have all the things that our base wanted, and we have the best economy in history.
02:53Prices are down.
02:54We inherited very high prices.
02:55We had the highest inflation in the history of our country.
02:59Think of it.
03:00The highest...
03:01Or 48 years.
03:02Some people say 48 years, but I'll take either one.
03:06So my base is very happy.
03:08But would you support mass deportations of people who are otherwise law-abiding?
03:12Well, I see everybody, but we focus.
03:14We're focusing on the criminals.
03:16We're focusing on killers.
03:17We're focusing...
03:18But ultimately, they all broke the law.
03:21Some can...
03:21If they do it in a certain way, they can go out.
03:24They can come back if they do it properly.
03:27But as you know, a lot of people have been deported.
03:30A lot.
03:31But the focus is on the murderers, the drug dealers.
03:37We have many people mentally insane.
03:39They dumped everything in our country.
03:40But ultimately, yes, exactly as I said during the campaign.
03:44Mr. President, can you set the record straight?
03:46There are reports circulating that you told Chuck Schumer that in order to restore funding
03:50for the Gateway train tunnel in New York, New Jersey,
03:53you would want Penn Station and Dulles Airport to be named after you.
03:57He suggested that to me.
04:00Chuck Schumer suggested that to me about changing the name of Penn Station to Trump Station.
04:07Dulles Airport is really separate.
04:09Dulles Airport is really not too involved with Congress.
04:13It's a separate kind of a deal, as you know.
04:15But it was suggested to be by numerous people.
04:18Unions, Democrats, Republicans.
04:21A lot of people suggested.
04:23Nothing's been done on that.
04:25President, you frequently criticize Joe Biden for not knowing what is going on in his name.
04:32This racist video that was posted on your social media.
04:34I'm doing a hell of a lot better than you do.
04:36You don't know what's going on.
04:37I know what's going on.
04:38No, Joe Biden didn't have a clue.
04:41But we know everything.
04:43And when you look at what's happening with our economy, and think of it,
04:45we're way years ahead of schedule.
04:48We have thousands and thousands of businesses being built right now.
04:53So Joe Biden had no clue.
04:55If Joe Biden were elected or if Kamala were elected, we wouldn't have a country right now.
