00:00Hello ladies, it's me, hi, hi, hi, hi, it's so good to be here, I love you, I'm your
00:15woman, and today is all about honoring these icons, my name is Rashad Ali, and I am just
00:24so very happy to be here to get to see you two women who have made the way for each and
00:31every one of us to see ourselves on television in a different light, to see ourselves in
00:36magazines and TV shows and movies in a different light, so we're going to get ready to do this
00:42because we had a lot of time to talk to these icons, so when the stage first is the actress
00:48we all came to know is American TV's sweetheart, she was the first American female teenager
00:55to be dressed, and she's been the TV show in the back in the 70s, y'all know you remember
01:01you, I am still with us, oh good guys, please help me welcome for today's status, she's still
01:10fine, it's a look, alright, it's a picture, we have a forward-winning actress and model
01:21to the career span over 50 plus years, at the height of her career she was done by the TV
01:28variety as the most beautiful black woman in Hollywood, but she wrote characters as the first
01:35person to be under a player's contract with Columbia, so you will find out more about what
01:42they need, please welcome to the stage of the iconic Judy Pinks, alright, hey Miss Judy,
01:50doesn't she look good, come right here Miss Judy, yeah I hope she'll give us all the Pinks, yes,
01:56you better give us all the Pinks, you better give us all the Pinks, you better give us all the Pinks,
01:59you better give us all the Pinks, you better give us all the Pinks, yes, Miss Judy, now she's still
02:03the Pinks, she's here but I don't cry if she told me that to make, absolutely, well ladies,
02:10thank you so much for being here, thank you for having me, what does it feel like to be honored,
02:17thank you for being so clear at your name and her Pinks, alright, um during the day I'm
02:22like uh, oh my god I just keep saying that you all forget the
02:24event that is and that never has no cause Mallory
02:29which side has been too wonderful, and um, that you've been so long ago and um,
02:32you've still tried to be there again to here with someone you've really wanted to know that, um,
02:40I want you to know that I'm always telling you that I've done a good job to meet this image, and I thank God so much.
02:49Yes, Jesus. Amen.
02:51It's true to me. What does it feel like to be considered a beauty icon?
02:55I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
02:59Okay, my life is really, really true, because I was thinking of some good things, but this isn't a problem.
03:06I don't know. I don't know. What?
03:10I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
03:14It's true to me. I just appreciate it so much, and it says that I took this advice.
03:21If it wasn't for a father, you can all this stuff on me, isn't it?
03:26Because I've made a man with a dog that's great.
03:29I don't know. So I'm going to know me something.
03:32How did I know something that I had and something that's dictated?
03:35I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
03:36I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
03:38Awesome. Awesome.
03:40Can you take us back, Albert, into what you've got in this role, this iconic role?
03:45I think you do see that word a lot here today.
03:48What was it like when you completed the opportunity, the first African-American teenager,
03:54to land this role under Norman Lear?
03:57And showing, you know, a black family just trying to make it.
04:01It was a man to that time.
04:02What was it like for you?
04:03Well, it was very interesting for me because I, too, was a girl on the project of New York.
04:11So I was the girl with two brothers.
04:14It was an actual middle department.
04:16So it was very useful for me.
04:19And when I come from a mission for the show, I remember they didn't bring them for some days
04:26because it was one old and one of the men who looked at me.
04:30So what I did was my sister, Ola, and his mom, and it was my school mom.
04:37Mom, mom did not write it well.
04:39I just don't. It's not writing.
04:41So she decided to talk to the producers.
04:46And she wanted me to go on there and tell them who he still was.
04:50So it was a little bit of a social life.
04:54Yes.
04:55And you know, it's not.
04:56Yes.
04:57And you learned how to have a voice for yourself early on.
05:00And how rare.
05:00Yes.
05:01I did this role for me.
05:03She is the one who gave a voice for a black teenage on television in the 70s.
05:09Wow.
05:10That's fantastic.
05:12And Miss Judy, what about you?
05:13I mean, it goes back even further for you.
05:17Just being a kid, just being a model, having these opportunities as an actor.
05:23What was it like being in this race as a beautiful black woman?
05:27At that time, it was a city of a woman, woman.
05:30A former American actress.
05:33And one that was considered as a black, color, color, and casting.
05:40The Christian was always the dark girl.
05:42And it's been that way for a long time for you.
05:46It just didn't have any work.
05:48So, if I did what's my agent, I suggested to them that there's no way for that book that says,
05:55God, color, and look at this.
05:58And if I'm not, we're going to continue on with the script.
06:03Just send me out.
06:04Just think about it as a woman who's dead man.
06:06And it's just like a five times that I've been to love you to students.
06:12I've signed up for a role that has been saved.
06:14I'll never get our people to work by a very long time.
06:18So, I was very blessed with being to present to our students.
06:24And also being a member of the first.
06:27I have been a child on two days.
06:31As the first black man in this long season.
06:34This year, I'm talking about broken teeth and just a little bit.
06:37Josh, everybody can't believe it.
06:40She'll get a picture of a place.
06:41Take place.
06:42But one of the best.
06:43Take place.
06:44Because I'm not sure you're going to be a child.
06:47You can't play to the podcast.
06:48Series 3, 1, 3, 2, 1, 8, 5, 8, 8, 8, 9, 10.
06:53And it's just a kid.
06:54I'm getting a kid.
06:55I'm getting a kid.
06:56I'm going to be a kid.
06:57I'm going to be a kid.
06:57I'm going to be a kid.
06:59So, I'm going to be a kid.
07:00I'm going to be a kid.
07:02I'm going to be a kid.
07:02I'm going to be a kid.
07:03I'm going to be a kid.
07:04I can't speak up with me.
07:06I'm going to be a kid.
07:09I'm going to be a kid.
07:10I can't speak up.
07:13I have a kid.
07:14But lawyer comes to me and my mom is the lawyer that made me a movie.
07:21It's a movie that just became really a wonderful situation.
07:27And I became the first part of the actress.
07:31And a movie that became the first monster movie.
07:36And I started in the films of the 70s and a movie called Tottenham Star.
07:44Woo!
07:45It was interesting.
07:47It was different.
07:51At first it was comedy.
07:53But when I went to do the seven-month books,
07:56it was a time when there was no fair choices.
07:59There was no fame in one of this movie.
08:01When I was acting like a movie,
08:03he found a person on the whole one.
08:06The life they had on Sunset,
08:08and the life they had in the valley was a man named Chelsea.
08:13The only is proud of us from all of us.
08:16It's up in 1962.
08:18And Chelsea got in town.
08:20He just used a shoot shot in there.
08:23Wow.
08:24That was the only person.
08:26That was there.
08:27Wow.
08:28So I watched it.
08:29He walked into the woods.
08:31He's in the valley.
08:32I wonder if when you hear a bunch of your stories,
08:34like what you're going to say,
08:36how to tell them that she led the way.
08:39And for actors like you,
08:41what will you say to other actors who are in the crowd,
08:46want to be included to us,
08:49and continue to grow in our careers as well?
08:53Oh, it's going to be so much easier for you,
08:55because they came used to seeing this car on television.
09:01Ha, ha, ha, ha,
09:02and how they gave you a song that everybody really could just do it.
09:06And how they gave you a rhythm of something.
09:09And how that sounds like they were afraid of at all.
09:11But from where to tell us,
09:12they can only see that all of you in the crowd,
09:13they can't actually see it,
09:14and to tell us what's still a good day.
09:15I think he saved the light on television.
09:16And that came out.
09:17And so, I think we're really not going out.
09:19Because what, what, what are what I mean to watch theнения.
09:20Yes!
09:21And the sets in the proches.
09:22I think it's not a good night.
09:23And I'm a good night.
09:24I'm not going to be in the crowd.
09:25I'm not going to be there.
09:26No, I'm not going to be in the crowd.
09:27I'm not going to be in the crowd.
09:28No, I'm not going to be in the crowd.
09:30I'm not going to be in the crowd.
09:31So, if you have a global license, it's supposed to be like, right?
09:35Right, right.
09:36Right, right.
09:37You know, an individual can explain what it means to have a contract, and so I think
09:40what they say, they take leave, right?
09:42Without Columbia Records.
09:44What exactly does that mean?
09:46There was a time in the longest where you're going to be closer to contact.
09:50And sometimes the contract would be as little as, um, it would be a five-year contract,
09:55four-year contract, and it's not just a great deal to use this.
09:59But the class is a class.
10:01Well, the class is all about it.
10:03And the one thing about it was, I talked in the 60s, 50s, it disappeared after the 60s.
10:10That was my last year.
10:12And the ability class to all the different things that they were doing all the time,
10:16I don't have to be so big, so I'm just on the side, and I don't have to do this.
10:21And it's my last year, but one thing they could do is if you can't fix it for us,
10:27even then you walk to another studio and collect the page that you know,
10:32and it's just a 83-50, you were busy, so do you?
10:36You're not very busy.
10:37You need to be talking to me, so you don't even have the contract.
10:40What was the contract?
10:41What was the contract?
10:42My contract was amazing.
10:43My contract was amazing.
10:44It wasn't my job, but the time's here, you know how you are.
10:47And I'm like, I'm obviously being here, and doing that, and being on.
10:52But I'm not the contract, but I'm going to send this out to different shows.
10:56It's a matter of fact, all the good times, speaking in those days,
11:01and even as teachers who have always been an actress,
11:06I was a dancer, seeing a few kids in the trance over into the whole room,
11:11and saying, I'm going to do an album, and one, going to go into one like a dance now.
11:16And I said, you did do that.
11:18I didn't want to sing at the time.
11:20And I think you'd like, you know, for everything.
11:22I'm not going to believe that being so good.
11:24And thinking of the stupid, what you did in front of us.
11:28And that was an honorable exchange.
11:30And I was like, I didn't get anything they want.
11:32So, two, that is so interesting.
11:34Because I think we've been to do it for all these places.
11:37I think most of the ladies were the brown ladies.
11:39It is because I'm dancing at hand.
11:42And sometimes they're all friends.
11:43And it's a kind of look.
11:45I love that I've done this to business change.
11:48I know that's something I've done this to business change.
11:51So, what I'm supposed to be an important thing to do.
11:54And I always know that I'm doing the same kind of guys tomorrow.
11:58And so, yeah.
12:00The black film renaissance.
12:01People refer to it in the 70s and the 80s.
12:04It's like it's true.
12:06Yeah.
12:07Yeah.
12:08That phrase not as racist.
12:10I refer to it as this.
12:13The black film renaissance.
12:15Yeah.
12:16And there were so many people working.
12:18There were so many talented men working in the business.
12:22And if you were speaking of the person's business business today.
12:26I'm in the city.
12:27I'm in the city.
12:28My daughter is now.
12:29To me.
12:30Yeah.
12:31And it has money.
12:32My daughter has so many.
12:34The three and probably not in the restaurant.
12:36Yeah.
12:37I love this.
12:38Yeah.
12:39And now I never think I'm going to say this.
12:41But I'm so happy to say this.
12:42Right now she's working.
12:45The tiger parent.
12:46I'm so happy to say this.
12:47Yeah.
12:48I love this.
12:49Yeah.
12:50And then I'm so happy to say that.
12:51I'm so happy to say this.
12:52I'm so happy to say this.
12:53Yeah.
12:55And I'm so happy to say this.
12:56Yeah.
12:57And I'll start thinking.
12:59of the new series called
13:01All the Cleanings
13:03and I'm going to show them
13:05that I'm going to track this year
13:07and I'm going to have a second season
13:09and this is one of the latest
13:11over the series.
13:12I'm going to show them
13:14to the next episode.
13:15I'm trying to play this long
13:18to be on
13:19a live under contract
13:21and I think things can do
13:23were just me and the show
13:25should have gone on a call
13:26which you won't come up
13:27to see my daughter
13:29on the line
13:31on the line
13:32and he wanted to tell us
13:33to share my heart
13:34with another life
13:35and he's trying to stop
13:36with another television
13:38and his mother
13:38and his mother
13:40and his wife
13:40I remember the days
13:42when a live person was on team
13:44and for the component
13:45and he died
13:45for his life
13:46that the same was
13:47two
13:47or seven
13:50and I'm going to be
13:51through the rest of the room
13:53and he will turn that
13:54to the live person
13:55on team
13:56and yes
13:56and the one I see
13:58this is interesting
13:58and I'm going to step
13:59into the car
14:00and I just want
14:01to know about
14:02the old
14:03and I told him
14:05to the whole
14:05and I told him
14:06to the whole
14:06and he has to be
14:07there's something
14:09that's not going
14:09to happen
14:10and I told him
14:11so happy
14:11when in the industry
14:13where I get a call
