00:00And moving on, another scripture from 2 Corinthians chapter 4, he says,
00:05Therefore we do not lose heart, even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
00:12For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us, and far more exceeding an eternal weight of glory.
00:18While we do not look at the things which are seen, but the things which are not seen.
00:22The things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
00:26Reminding us that there is an eternal realm, an eternal life, which we can't see, but which is real.
00:33And which one day is going to become much more real to us than this temporal world, which is passing away.
00:40And so Paul says, even though our outward man is perishing, the inward man is being renewed day by day.
00:48Anybody feel that your outward man, your outward woman, is not improving as you get older?
00:56I certainly do.
00:58And we know that this body which we're in is mortal, it's corruptible, and it's on its way, eventually, to perishing in the moment that we die.
01:09Or more, hopefully, if the Lord comes and takes us to be with himself without dying.
01:13But that's another story.
01:15But we have this knowledge within us that we have this perishing body, we have this mortal body.
01:19And God is saying that you have this mortal body, but you also have a tremendous hope that you have an immortal soul and spirit which is going to be resurrected in Jesus the Messiah.
01:32And in light of this, what you go through in this life is a light affliction.
01:39And so you don't look at the things which are seen, you don't look at the things which are temporary, but you look at the things which are unseen and which are eternal.
01:46Just thinking about that light affliction, the Apostle Paul, later on in 2 Corinthians chapter 11, is going to tell you about his light affliction.
01:58I was flogged, beaten with rods, I was shipwrecked, I was imprisoned, and all of those things which happened to him.
02:06And he describes those as a light affliction because of the exceeding weight of glory which is waiting for him.
02:12So if you complain about your afflictions, just think about old Paul there, saying that all these things were a light affliction because of the exceeding glory which is coming through faith in Jesus the Messiah.
