00:00I've actually never used curl formlers before. I'm going to be using these packets that are made specifically for shorter hair. Hopefully I'll show you how easy it is to figure it out yourself.
00:14So I'm going to start off with this section of hair. Right now my hair is dry, so I'm going to give it a few sprays. This is just water. I'm going to take just a little bit of a mousse to give my hair some hole. Just a little bit.
00:32Now I'm going to do my first curlformer. Like I said, I've never done this before. The first time I tried it, I stuck it in through there. That's not right. You want to stick it up through the curlformer. Like that.
00:49And then take a section of hair and stick it through this hook. Make sure you have the whole section starting from the root. And then pull it through. Success! That was probably the hardest one. I'm just going to keep going.
01:19If your hair gets stuck the way mine just did, just push the hook back up out and try again. What I want to do is sort of a faux hawk where I slick the sides back and then the top is all curly. So I'm only putting the curlformers in this top section of my hair.
01:37Okay, so I've done all of the hair on the top section of my head. If you don't have the time to let your hair air dry all the way, I would recommend using a hooded dryer. This one comes in a little pack and it's just cloth. So you stick it onto the end of your blow dryer, put the hood on, tighten it, turn on my blow dryer, and I have on a hooded dryer.
02:07These ones at the front are looking really good. And I'm on my last one. The part that I was worried about was removing them. What I found was easiest was if I smoothed out the top of the curlformer while it was in my hair and then pinched this plastic part, it would slide right out without any issues.
02:31My curls are really defined. They're too defined. I would not go out like this. But I'm going to zhoosh at the roots using my fingertips to loosen them up. It's going to look more natural, edgier, and less defined.
02:45Now that I have zhooshed my hair, I'm just going to twist my hair and pin it back. I'm just going to finish up my makeup and put a dress on and show you the finished look.
03:00My first prom, I went with relaxed hair, so I get to redeem myself by using my own natural hair. I detangled it, put in some lead in, and put them in twists.
03:10So the curlformers I'm using are the extra long, extra wide, and they come in the pack with this sort of magenta color and a very light line color.
03:20And to simply put the curlform up on, you want to open the bottom portion of it, like so, and stick the wand up all the way through.
03:30To start the style, I'm going to work backwards to the front, and I'm going to start by untwisting one part of my hair and putting the rest of it away.
03:40All of the curlformers are in my head. I used a whole pack of the extra long, extra wide, almost an entire pack of the long and extra wide.
04:07So the shorter ones are in the front of my head, and the longer ones are in the back. I can't wait for you guys to see it.
04:13I went ahead and finished my makeup and put on my earrings and put on my dress while my hair was drying in the curlformers.
04:21I'm going to just take out the rest of them. All you have to do is stretch it out and squeeze the ends, and your hair will slide right out. Just like that.
04:29And you end up with a nice, bouncy, spirally cool.
04:32And then I'm going to separate them using an oil and stop my hair.
04:39I'm just taking each curl and dividing them into two to give it more volume.
04:46And you want to do this slowly so you don't create a lot of frizz. I don't mind frizz. That's cool.
04:54So this is a hairstyle with all of the curlformers out, and my hair is separated and fluffed.
04:59And you can go to prom just like this, but I think I'm going to add a little something to it by taking two pieces from the side of my hair and pinning it back.
05:08Okay, so this is the finished look. I really, really love it. I love how free and fluffy the curls are, and they're not too defined.
05:24I think this look is perfect for prom.
05:26So if you guys tried this hairstyle, let me know in the comments below.
05:30And thank you all for watching. Bye!
