00:00Hey Naturally Curly World, I'm Nikki and I'm Grace and welcome to Wash & Go the
00:04series where we review things while doing our Wash & Go. In this episode we'll
00:09be reviewing the movie Wonder Woman.
00:30So, Coconut Restore is sponsoring this video. Thanks Coconut Restore. And today we're going
00:39to be doing our Wash & Go's with all Coconut Restore products.
00:42I'll be using the shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, and the gelay.
00:46And I will be using the shampoo, the conditioner, the leave-in, and maybe the gelay depending
00:52on how my hair is going with the other products.
00:56So, we just got through shampooing and conditioning our hair with the Coconut Restore Moisture
01:02Replenishing Shampoo and the Coconut Restore Daily Strengthening Conditioner. The conditioner
01:07has proteins in it and it's very thick but it runs through your hair. It's very easy
01:12to dangle. And the shampoo is kind of thick for a shampoo so you don't need a lot to lather
01:17up but it does lather. It does lather which I was surprised at because it's sulfate-free.
01:23They have a very, like, tropical-y scent, obviously, because it's coconut. So, feeling
01:27good. Feeling good.
01:29Watching, like, the first, probably half hour of the movie was, like, my favorite part of
01:34the movie because you see Wonder Woman before she's Wonder Woman growing up on this island
01:39and it's all women for, like, the first half hour. Seeing this girl, like, want to become
01:45a warrior. It, like, really touched me just because as a little girl growing up I always
01:51felt like I was more of, like, a tomboy. And so, like, seeing that little girl, like, I legit
01:57almost cried just seeing that and seeing, like, her thriving in this society where she didn't
02:03even have to think about, like, those things that we had to think about.
02:06It was very beautiful. I wanted to be covered in gilded gold and, um, they just looked gorgeous.
02:13They looked strong. They looked powerful. They looked, like, confident. They didn't look like
02:18they were doubting themselves. And not only that, they were all different shades of women. And I
02:23really appreciated that, being a woman of color, to see women of all different colors, all different
02:28shades, all for different body types. The inner child, the inner Nikki needed this movie.
02:33She did this years ago. The leave-in is actually really good. It helped detangle my hair quite
02:37nicely. The actress who plays Diana, aka Wonder Woman, was pregnant when she was filming the scenes.
02:43Homegirl was like Serena Williams out there, giving it her best, giving it her all. And a pregnancy
02:47didn't stop her. So it just added to the whole empowerment thing. Like, she's like a real life
02:52superwoman. Yeah, you're not gonna be stopped by a little period, a couple cramps, and maybe a baby.
02:56You know what I'm saying? Like, you gotta be out here winning. So I definitely think it's been,
03:00it's an improvement from past female-led superhero movies. But I do think, like,
03:05we still have a ways to go. I got upset. I'm not gonna lie to you. I think, someone loves Chris
03:10Pryne, you know, in this video. It's not me. Okay, I love Chris Pryne in general. Chris Pryne's cool.
03:14What is your problem? That's fine. Chris Pryne's cool, but I could have done without his entire
03:19storyline. It kind of felt like, okay, I guess she needs a love interest. And that's fine. She could have a
03:23love interest. And that was Chris Pryne. But at the end, Chris, it felt like he was trying to save the
03:28movie with his storyline. And it's like, I don't need this. Like, she's Wonder Woman. She can handle
03:33this by herself. We don't need Chris Pryne over here trying to get an Oscar. But I do think that
03:38she needed a human to show her, like, how good humankind can be, like how selfless they can be,
03:45to restore her faith in humanity. It just didn't have to be Chris Pryne. No, it didn't. It definitely
03:50didn't. I will say, we need to touch on this, because I'm almost done. I'm gonna take a little bit of this
03:55jelly and put it on my ends. It was a fantasy world that they live in in the beginning, right?
03:59There's all these women, and it's beautiful, and you feel empowered. But I also felt like,
04:04as a woman of color, I felt a little awkward in one of the scenes where young Diana is running
04:11through the woods to learn how to battle. And guess who's chasing after her? Little old black Haitian
04:17woman. And I just felt some kind of way about it. I was like, if we can create a world where women are
04:21empowered, why do we have to, why did we go back to that trope? Why would it have to be
04:27a black woman chasing, who takes care of? You know what I mean? Yeah. And there were no black female
04:32leads. There were no black female leads. And when you went out into the world, like the human world,
04:38I can't remember seeing any, any person of color. Not there, there were no, I don't think there were
04:43any women of color. Like in England? Yeah. I mean, I appreciated us being there. I appreciated the,
04:47well, they had all kinds of colors, right? It was beautiful. And I appreciated us being included,
04:53because oftentimes women of color are not included. But I also kind of felt like, well,
04:58why do we have a mammy? And why were they just background figures? Yes, it was awesome in so many
05:04respects, but there's so many, also so many things that they could have done better. I think my favorite
05:10character was Wonder Woman. I just loved her personality and like her wonderment at things. My favorite
05:16character was Robin Wright, Claire Underwood, and Teope. She is just, y'all. Should we say our rating on the
05:24count of three? Sure. Okay. One, two, three. Five. Three point five. I love it. I'm giving it a
05:32three point five purely from like a reviewer's standpoint. Like when I'm looking at it critically,
05:37it gets a three point five. When I'm looking at it with my feelings, it gets a five. You know what,
05:42I agree with you. I'm giving it a five from my feelings and the visualness and the fact that the
05:47director is Patty Jenkins and she directed Monster. But go see it. It's so good. It's really good. Take
05:52your mom, your grandma, your sisters, your aunts, your uncles. Take everybody you know. Take the men
05:57in your life and the women. So good. It'll change your life. Thank you so much to Coconut Restore for
