00:23also can be super defined and straighten on a dime so I'm really excited to show
00:31you everything that's going to happen behind the scenes on the runway and
00:35throughout the event space so let's get it poppin let's see what's going on with
00:40smooth and shine at texture on the runway

01:23source for all things curly we are here to see smooth and shine debut they're
01:28curly and they're straightened hairline and we absolutely cannot wait so let's
01:33talk to some of the people that are here in the building and get this party
01:36started
01:43so my name is Cena Hilbert I'm the brand manager for the smooth and shine brand
01:47the brand ever relaunching here today what is the inspiration behind this
01:51runway show tonight yeah so that's a really good question so the inspiration
01:55is really hair so natural hair black hair and it's many different forms and
01:59shapes we really wanted to highlight that with the relaunch so we're
02:03completely relaunching the brand introducing new products that really
02:06embrace the natural hair of women of color what would you say to people that are
02:10like you know I only use like one product two products I mean don't you think it's
02:15important to have versatility in your regimen definitely I mean you need to have
02:19an entire set you need your cleanser you need your moisturizer you're leaving your
02:22set you know your gel and you have to have the whole system to make it work I
02:26have not chemically straightened my hair in over 17 years and a lot of people are
02:31surprised at that but the bottom line is it depends on the day you see me
02:34sometimes I'll rock curls sometimes it's a twist sometimes it's a bond
02:39sometimes I want to blow my hair out I mean you have to learn your hair and it's a
02:43constant development and a constant journey so it's really just doing it
02:47taking that leap of faith and just like being confident in who you are and not
02:52depending on your hair to define your beauty I am Larry Sims I've been brand
02:57ambassador and spokesperson for the brand for over 10 years and I'm really
03:00excited to launch our new line of products designed for both curly hair
03:05consumers and women with straight hair it's with fine botanical oils that I
03:10really love and you know we've really upped the ante and stepped the game up in
03:14terms of our technologies and what our ingredients are in the product so I'm
03:18really excited about this so what is one piece of advice that you have for a
03:23person that might be on the fence in terms of saying I have curls but I
03:27actually want to be straight for just a little bit what would you say to that
03:31person I would say pick up any of the products from the smooth and shine fine
03:36botanicals line we have stuff for that very particular consumer a woman that may
03:42want to go from being curly to be a straight without damaging her natural
03:46curls and without also having to put a relaxer in their hair so there are
03:51definitely ways to do it that that is safe where you'll have the flexibility and
03:56you're also nourishing your hair which is very important and you heard it here
03:59on curl talk TV you can be curly you can straighten your hair and you don't have
04:03to relax it you can be natural every day every way you are one of the several
04:14models that were out here rocking a very beautiful style but do you really think
04:19that representation can make a make waves in this industry fashion more
04:25specifically yes it does I mean I really wish we had more representation of
04:30females that had not only just our skin color but also our hair as well because
04:35I always try to keep in mind of my hair journey and how uncomfortable I was with
04:41it and just getting you know accustomed to my natural hair but now seeing all
04:47these beautiful lovely women especially women of color just embracing their
04:51curls and their natural styles it's like it's so empowering and I don't know it's a
04:56great feeling everyone should experience it all right naturally curly
