01:00world for those of y'all just joining us I'm Alexandra Wilson I am one of nationally curly editors and this
01:06is our Q&A series where we answer all of your questions about hair growth about style finding
01:11stylists your hair struggles everything curly hair we will be answering right here right now so
01:18comment below and we will answer your questions so we have some questions from our curl talk series
01:26so I'm gonna go ahead and start answering those one of them is what is a good regimen for hair growth
01:32and strength and some ingredients to look out for so first y'all I want to be really honest and frank
01:39with this question because I feel like people are always trying to find like what's the secret to
01:45hair growth like what's the secret um you know for having long hair and it's really it truly starts
01:51with creating a healthy hair regimen there is no secret it's truly about you taking good care of your
01:57hair so really starting with creating a routine cleansing schedule deep conditioning having a great scalp
02:07hair treatment I think that's what personally helped me for the longest I did not really care about my
02:12scalp I was just like worried about um the length and not the actual like health of my hair so within
02:19the past year my hair has grown so much from me actually taking a lot better care of my scalp
02:25um I think I think that's really really important so when I say scalp care I'm thinking
02:31I'm meaning things such as um different treatments for like exfoliating your scalp there's a briogeo
02:38whole line that is all about scalp care treatment um and there's so many other brands that have scalp
02:43care treatment so definitely look for scalp care treatments um for you know if you're having itchiness
02:49dryness flakiness whatever it is um really first treat that first before you're worried about length
02:55um and then some ingredients to look out for so products to help with hair growth and I would say
03:02really more about strengthening your hair um flaxseed is great because it provides strong hold um
03:10it's um well flaxseed is great because it's adding shine and curl definition but it's also really good for
03:15stimulating your hair follicles and then olive oil is another great ingredient um because it's sealing and
03:22coating and also penetrating your hair follicles uh shea butter is an essential ingredient for curlies
03:29y'all already know shea butter is in almost every single hair product um and that is really good for
03:34moisture and it also has um for protecting your hair during the summer and then of course black castor oil
03:44is strengthening your hair um strengthening and thickening it so another question is what styles are low
03:51stress and easy for that transitioning period so yes y'all the transitioning period is a little rough um
03:58but it is temporary and um for those of you that are transitioning I definitely say protective styles
04:05is your go-to girl like whether it is a bantu knot whether you throw on a head wrap um box braids corn
04:12rolls whatever you want to do um try it like it's so easy to get stuck in your little ponytail in your puff
04:20but there are more options out there so definitely be creative and step outside your comfort zone and
04:24try some different protective styles and how you have it and if you're having a bad hair day throw on
04:29a hat or a head scarf and keep moving um another one another question is the connection was lost
04:38how much time what how long have we been on oh it's it's resumed okay hey guys we are back so another
04:49question is when my hair isn't working for me for the day what do you do to give yourself the confidence
04:55boost to go out and still feel good so I I think that's a really interesting question because I do feel
05:02like our hair is our crown and it does kind of give us that boost like today I'm having a good hair day
05:07so I'm like girl you know I'm feeling myself but I'm also like just really cute like I have a bold
05:15lip you know like I have a cute outfit so it's not always just about the hair like do other things that
05:19help you feel good um you know take care of your skin you know moisturize your skin get your glow on
05:26whatever what do whatever you do that makes you feel good it's not always just about your hair
05:29and if you're having that hair day like I said resort to your hat or your head scarf like it
05:35doesn't always have to be like pop and curl like if it's not working for that day like don't let that
05:39ruin your day um oh yeah and also wigs wigs are really good to incorporate so keep those on handy too
05:49um another question is is there a product or ingredient that I could use to look that I could use
05:56or look for in a product that will keep my hair moisturized so curly hair moisture is key it's
06:03all about the moisture so one of the main ingredients is glycerin am I saying that right glycerin glycerin
06:10so glycerin um glycerin is amazing for slip like when you were trying to get your hair detangled and get
06:18knots out glycerin is a key ingredient that you should look for and when you're looking at ingredients look for
06:24the ingredients that are at the top of the list because those are like the key main ingredients
06:28that will be in that product um so glycerin is a great one for moisture aloe vera is another great
06:35option because that is also adding shine it's also sealing in the moisture same as avocado avocado oil
06:42is really good for curlies that have a finer hair texture so like our twos and threes um just so that's
06:48not just just so that's not like weighing your hair down and then of course your shea butter your
06:53coconut oil those are more for your three c to four c um curlies who have coarser hair um and that is
07:02like the holy grail of moisture you already know shea butter coconut oil are like key for um providing
07:08like really good moisture hydration so another question is it's summertime here in texas and this
07:17one is actually a really good question it's about going swimming in our so the question is every
07:23time we go swimming in a pool our hair becomes one huge nest of intense knots i assume is the chemical
07:29doing this to our hair but do you have any suggestions on preventing this from happening
07:34so there's a few things that you can do before you go swimming so the first thing is actually detangle
07:41your hair so go through um brush and detangle your hair and then if you want to i think it's really
07:47good to do a bun so a top knot you can do some twists um you can even do braids just so that your hair
07:56isn't like fully just being um like saturated with chlorine so definitely trying to actually detangle
08:04and then style before you go swimming and then of course afterwards deep condition like do a nice
08:10good deep conditioning treatment after you after you go swimming so if y'all have any questions feel
08:17free to comment below we have one or two more questions left on here and then it's up to you so
08:23if you have some questions that you want us to answer we can answer them right here right now
08:27so this question is actually like me current like me in my current space so i can definitely answer
08:34this one the question is after my big chop my hair is growing out uneven my left side grows longer than
08:40the right side what suggestions do you have so i actually big chops three years ago and i got a pixie cut
08:49and it was cute for the time being but definitely the grow off phase is not cute and that's what i'm
08:56in right now i'm trying to make it work the best that i can but my hair is really really uneven um
09:02and i asked my hairdresser i'm like so what can i do because i'm like i'm ready just to cut it so it
09:06can be even but she actually recommended that i let it all grow out and don't touch it so don't put
09:12any heat on it um and really just let it grow out evenly so for me my go-to is finger coils because
09:19it kind of hides all the different shorter lengths and different textures that i have and it makes them
09:25look even but girl honestly it's not like my hair is a lot longer on this side than it is on this
09:31side but by finger coiling it it kind of makes it look like it's like you know actually a full length
09:37style um so yeah i would just say try finger coiling it do not touch the heat and let it grow out evenly
09:44before you try to go to go to the hairstylist
09:47so do y'all have any questions that you were itching to ask about curly hair finding a stylist
09:56your struggles hairstyle inspo let us know in the comments below and i'll answer them right now
10:02we have a few more minutes before we close out but i'm happy to answer any questions you have
10:06okay well y'all i hope y'all they're doing some work
10:22but yes we will be doing this every single monday at 12 30 central so if you have any questions about
10:29your hair journey about your curly girl struggles what products to use what methods what tips and
10:34techniques you can comment below and we will answer them next week i have a question oh okay where'd
10:41you get this cute outfit oh girl let me show you real quick so you know my top is from zara uh my pants
10:53they are from target so i was just telling nikki before we started this
10:58that target y'all has some really cute summer styles so this is not sponsored by the way but
11:06yeah we have a question oh got a question girl what's the question i struggle with wash and go what
11:13products do you use oh so wash and go is my go-to y'all i i am a super like i wouldn't say lazy natural
11:22but i'm all about like quick and easy so i like to use mousse and gel and then i add um an oil for shine
11:32so what i do is um i wash like a good conditioner a shampoo conditioner shampoo that i like is
11:41hmm design essentials actually i love design so design essentials has an almond almond avocado line
11:49and i love their shampoo and conditioner so i use that and then my leave-in is kinky curly not today
11:56and then i use the design essentials almond and avocado mousse and i know people are like girl you
12:03use mousse like who does that but actually if you live in like really humid areas like texas during the
12:10summer the humid is like outrageous um so you really need a really good product like really come back that
12:17frisk and give you the definition that you want so mousse is your secret weapon girl like get you a
12:23good mousse that you like um i know a lot of people think that you know mousses and gels there's some
12:28bad work about flakiness and the crunch but find you a really good moisturizing one my favorite is the
12:34design essentials almond avocado mousse and then i follow up with a gel um i have lots of favorite gels
12:40one of my favorites is the camille rose curl maker and the aunt jackie's um flaxseed gel
12:47and then i spray i finish with a oil and i use the we dab mongogo oil and i fluff and i am out the door
12:57and also if you don't have a pick you should totally invest in one like five bucks i don't leave home
13:02without it so that's my wash and go routine yeah what are good tips for retaining length for thin
13:10fragile hair oh retaining length for thin fragile hair that's well earlier i talked about so i guess
13:20it's really just about like what is what is like your biggest hair concern so like really i would just
13:27say creating a healthy hair regimen um but retaining length um so um i know flaxseed is really good
13:37flaxseed and casserole oil are probably like your top key ingredients that will help stimulate the
13:42follicles to increase hair growth but it's really up to you to actually create like a healthy hair
13:47regimen so are you deep conditioning regularly do you have a scalp care treatment where you're actually
13:52exfoliating your scalp are you using a scalp oil like for the longest i i was oiling my hair but i
13:58wasn't oiling my scalp so that that's a game changer for me as well that i actually learned recently
14:03um and like i said earlier in this past year i've experienced a lot of hair growth just from really
14:09focusing on implementing implementing a scalp care treatment so i would say um just really start there
14:17and find some find a definition that works for you and find a scalp that works for you
