00:01Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced late on Wednesday that his country will hold nuclear talks with the United States in Oman on Friday.
00:10The announcement came hours after indications that the anticipated talks were faltering over changes in format, location and content.
00:18The talks were initially set to be held in Turkey between Iranian officials and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
00:25The U.S. was pressing to discuss a wide array of topics, including Iran's nuclear program, the regional proxies, ballistic missiles and the treatment of its own people.
00:36Arab and Turkish officials were meant to participate in those talks.
00:40Tehran was looking for a different kind of meeting with a far narrower scope, focused exclusively on the nuclear project and limited in participation to the U.S. and Iran.
00:50The White House remains skeptical that the talks will be successful, but has agreed to go along with the changes out of respect for its allies in the region.
00:59U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed dissatisfaction and hoped the talks will expand to other topics.
01:07U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that he should be very worried, stressing that a military option is still on the table.
01:16But you still have to be.
