00:00He sat down if you are the real to real he sat down and he said, and I looked at him immediately. I said
00:06You had you had questions. Oh, I did immediately and I threw out the first question
00:12And then I'm immediately just talking to all of us around here on the phone and then Clint threw out another question and then it was
00:19You're not you're not Steph digs. Are you he end up being a safety from Vanderbilt?
00:24So I've been so I've been
00:26Did he tell you he was Steph? Yes. Did you assume he was? No, he told us it was set up
00:32I don't know. He told us that's so I love it. So I've been hitting quitting people. All right
00:36So make sure so. So what questions? So I just want to make sure I think the real I think the real to TD would know this
00:42What what what record did you set in track and field at Lincoln High School? What record?
00:49Well, there's actually two to shop putting the discus. There you go. Okay. All right. All right
00:53I just I tell you what the imposter would have been wrong ten times
00:55No, yeah, that's what I said like running back think oh, no, yes, it's a shot
01:00That's one of my greatest achievements man. Okay. Greatest achievement. That's one of your greatest achievements. That's one of my greatest achievements
01:05Really doing a shot put
01:07There you go set the record in the shot put man because that's the sport. That's something that the big fellas was that we're doing
01:13Yeah, you know, so I was competing with the big fellas and most people don't notice, but I played nose guard in high school, too
01:19So I played I played I had I had an kicker to what you I was a kicker
01:24I played every I played every position in high school except
01:27I've never been I didn't play quarterback and I've never played true corner or true wide receiver
01:33So I played safety linebacker. I played nose guard. I played dn
01:39Play tight end played all positions on us on the front line when I was a kid center guard tackle
01:45Running back fullback and quarterback at times when I was younger, but
01:49Yeah, I played pretty much every position
01:51I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this since we got the real Terrell Davis here with us
01:55I love hearing this from other people's perspective. We got our Clint played played in the league play for the Cowboys played at Arkansas
02:03And so we get the quarterback's perspective on CJ Stroud
02:06I'm wondering running backs defensive players like it feels like
02:12People especially around the city have a different view a different feel of CJ Stroud
02:17As somebody who has played with guys from the likes of John Elway all the way to the other guys you've played with
02:22What's your what's your thought process?
02:25What do you think the team's thought process around a guy that started off so hot as he was his rookie year?
02:31And now coming down and the last time we saw him look nothing like the guy we first saw
02:36I don't know what's going on man
02:39It was uh, I mean like you said he came out his rookie year and he he became the poster boy for you know
02:45Basically saying hey quarterbacks. This is what's expected of you if you come out and you're drafted
02:51You know we want to see this kind of you know progression
02:54And then it's just been a it just seemed like it's been a regression the last two years and then to see the playoffs man
03:00I didn't know. I mean, I didn't know who that guy was, you know, and and
03:03I know he's fighting inside man
03:06And sometimes you're pressing so hard and you're trying to do the right things, but it's just going south
03:12And during that game. I I felt I know didn't D'amico
03:15D'amico the D'amico Ryan's did the right thing, but I felt like maybe you should have tried to sit him a little bit
03:21Do you think you lose CJ though if you if they were to make that decision? No
03:25And the reason I say John Elway got benched man
03:28I mean playoff game it wasn't a playoff game, but he got benched and the thing about it
03:33It's not like you don't know you playing bad
03:35It it I can see if you I can see if you if there was a borderline where things just weren't going great and they needed a boost
03:42I okay. I see that part
03:45But he was causing all of the problems. He was just throwing a ball away. He was he was just in a world where to just
03:52Your defense is playing lights out
03:55Don't put them in a bad situation. I know you're trying to make the plays
03:59But you can't just throw the ball up to just be throwing it and so when he was doing that
04:04you know, he's struggling mentally and
04:06Eventually, I hope this becomes
04:09Something that allows him to be able to work his way through it and use that man because you got to have grit and
04:16To get where he's gotten to he had to show some grit and some resilience
04:20But now it's gonna take another level of that because now you've lost you've you've lost a lot of your teammates in a locker
04:27You think so you think they may not say it publicly. That's what he'd be saying. Yeah, they may not say it publicly man
04:34those guys are like
04:36Bro, when when they lose when you lose
04:39the trust that they have in you to go out there and perform and be competent
04:43That's a hard thing to get back well
04:46He's just such a good dude off the field and and I'll pray for you and everybody's my my dude and I don't ever say anything wrong and
04:53His leadership style is not a I'm gonna step on your throat type of leader
04:56it's
04:57Everybody's always gonna like that guy and and and embrace that guy
05:00But the reality of it is that big stage bright lights comes around again. How much trust do you have in it?
05:05I want to ask you though td about the running back position the running back position in houston is is a hot topic right now
05:10Now joe mixon came over last year had had a hell of a year and and obviously joe mixon is better than a young running back
05:18We got woody marks had a great rookie year and and contributed much more than people thought he was gonna have to
05:23But i'm always talk about
05:25This offense and they want to be a a an establish the run type of offense
05:30And when you've got a guy like joe mixon a true bell cow starting three down back in this league
05:36And how different it is then when you just get a guy that's a serviceable back that went in there and did an admirable job
05:43And I always try to try to to bring that to light
05:46But nobody better than you to talk about the difference between the two and how big one can be versus the other
05:52It's huge when you have that guy when you have like, you know joe mixon who can
05:56Can give you you know one through you know one through three maybe even some cases your fourth down back if you if you go for it
06:03because it's
06:06Number one a back a back needs to know that they're getting a certain amount of touches when I went to a game
06:12I didn't have to guess that i'm getting
06:15I was getting 30 touches game and I knew it so I had the ability to be patient
06:20You know a lot of times running backs come in and they know they're good
06:23They you know, they don't know how many times they're gonna get the ball in the game
06:26So they don't there's no setting anything if they just have to try to eat while they can eat
06:30And typically you're you're you're passing the three, uh, you know three yard run looking for an eight yard run
06:36And now you're putting the team in a bad situation, but that's not the fall to the back the back is like
06:39Hey, man, I only get one shot at this
06:41Yeah, so i'm not gonna i'm not gonna settle for three yards. I'm trying to get eight
06:45Yeah, that's a problem. I knew I can get no yards on the on some carries because I knew i'm getting
06:5120 to 30 but eventually
06:53I had a chance to set things up
06:54I knew I was going to be able to help the offense wear the defense down
06:57And I knew by the time we got to the third and fourth quarter. It was time to go
07:01It was my time and that was we gonna run the heck out of the ball
07:05Can't do that anymore
07:07And I think part of it too is not that they don't it's not that they're not willing to do it in a game
07:12You got to have some some some indications you can do it
07:15So you got to practice it you got to have some confidence going into a game
07:18Well, it's a very expensive thing to have a running game
07:22Right, you got to practice it. You got to put pads on you got to eat up all that time that you're limited to
07:27So it's it's a difficult process to have but I don't know man. I grew up in
07:32I played in a really good era with running backs. It was fun. They want two of them now
07:35Right. Well, there's just something about and you obviously were one of them, man
07:39It's just something about you guys ability
07:42to step in the huddle and
07:44Everybody around you all of a sudden their confidence goes through the roof. Hey, we we got a dude back there. That's a horse
07:50We got a dude. That's a game changer. We got a dude that expects us to be great
07:54You know what I mean? Like it versus another guy that's again
07:57He can put up some yards and he and he can do some good things in in critical situations
08:01He can make a guy miss here there, but when you got that
08:04Terrell Davis type of person back there. I mean, it's just a not that there's a bunch of Terrell Davis is walking around
08:10But but I mean, you know what I mean that that to raise the level of everybody in that huddle just by existing is and I think
08:16Joe Mixon did that for the Texans, you know a year ago. I think I think he did that and
08:19So anyway, we're just in that battle of like should the Texans go get one of them dudes?
08:24You know, should they should they stay the course and that's a big question around Houston
08:27You could never have to me like you could never have too many like you
08:31You could always bring in a guy. I think what was cool about about the office that
08:36That I played in was when you look at our huddle. We had that dude everywhere
08:40I mean you look at number 84 shannon sharp. We got that dude. You look at our receivers Ross Smith in the 80
08:45That dude Ed McCaffrey number 87. I'm back there. However, so we had it all we had an office and a huddle that man
08:52we had guys that
08:54Man when it was time to go we knew we had dudes we can count on yeah, no matter what the situation was
09:00And that's a that's a hell of and then the offensive line Zimmerman and nailing. Oh my god, man
09:05We had those brothers man, and they and so and they're confident in the way they block
09:09You don't think if you're a lineman you look back and you see who's in the backfield changes your mentality
09:14Yeah, you broke. Yeah, you broke my heart 1997. I was in the stadium. Yeah, my pleasure
09:20I was in the state. Yeah, my pleasure. I do it again
09:22I was there when peter on of it
09:24Got y'all and then you came back. Yeah, yeah, you kicked that late that long field goal. Yeah, yeah
09:28We came back. We walked out of there saying anyway, man. Just tell us what you're talking about
09:35I enjoy talking about 14 points
09:38I know
09:42Who you working with? All right, man, I'm here to raise awareness for this for the other td
09:47Uh, it is not touchdowns man. It's tardive dyskinesia. Have you heard of tardive dyskinesia? I have not
09:52I don't I don't even want to try to say it. All right
09:54So it's uh, it's a chronic movement disorder and it's caused by certain
09:58uh, prescription mental health medications such as anti
10:02Depressants and anti
10:04Psychotics and it can cause repetitive uncontrollable movements in your face your hands your feet your torso
10:10And although I do not have a td man
10:12I'm here to raise awareness to let people know man
10:15If you are experiencing any of those symptoms, please go to the other td.com
10:18Man, it's just, uh, you know using my platform to raise my hand and say hey go get checked out
10:23I know I have had my own mental health struggles and I
10:26was presented with having
10:28Taking some of these medications as as a treatment option and so I was pretty close to to going down that road
10:34And I know that if I was going through that or dealing with some of these symptoms, I would I would want to know what's happening
