00:00This is the first time in a while that I've actually, on Monday, on Radio Robe, been thinking,
00:04okay, I want to actually talk about the Super Bowl a lot this week.
00:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:07That'll fade.
00:08But, because we're sitting right next to WEEI, which is Boston's station.
00:14Boy, Teddy J's going to be there, man.
00:15Ted's going to be there in the afternoon.
00:17They're doing, like, a super show.
00:19They're bringing Ted and the morning host out.
00:21Oh, okay.
00:22And so, like, that's, Ted usually does afternoons.
00:25And so this is a special edition show, which includes Ted Johnson.
00:29Which includes Ted Johnson.
00:30Three-time Super Bowl champion.
00:31Three-time Super Bowl champion.
00:32And, more importantly, Sports Radio 610 Hall of Fame.
00:35Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:36Legacy.
00:36Hey, guys, Teddy J here.
00:37Yeah.
00:38He's a legacy.
00:40So your excitement level's pretty decent for this game, huh?
00:42It is.
00:43I'm just kind of, you know what part of it is, is it's two defensive-minded head coaches.
00:47Yeah.
00:47So every single team in the league that has a defensive-minded head coach right now is saying,
00:51you see, there you have it.
00:53It's possible.
00:54That's how you do it.
00:55And then, lo and behold, the offensive coordinator for the Seahawks, Clint Kubiak,
00:59who had a great year this year, is now going to be the head coach of the race.
01:04So the Seahawks will be in that same position next year.
01:07I'll be like, oh, okay.
01:07Oh, we've got to find another offensive coordinator to see if we can squeeze the juice out of Sam
01:12Darnold.
01:12Darnold's had seven different coordinators in eight seasons.
01:16It's crazy.
01:17Whatever the stat is, it's basically almost one coordinator per year.
01:21Well, half of them were dysfunction with the Jets, and the rest are because he changes teams every year.
01:26Eighth different offensive coordinator in nine NFL seasons.
01:29Yeah.
01:29But at the same time, you know, as the Eagles are hiring their offensive coordinator, it does make me – it makes me feel like the Eagles might be on to something in that, look, you're always going to have change.
01:43The Eagles have gone to two Super Bowls with two different offensive coordinators.
01:47Yeah.
01:47And there might be a part of just, like, a philosophy of, like, you know what, yeah, have a quarterback who can adapt to multiple different coordinators.
01:57You know, I think CJ's more adaptable in the passing game side of things than Jalen Hurts is.
02:02Jalen Hurts obviously always has that thread of his legs that's going to make things interesting or different.
02:08But if you have to swap out coordinators every couple of years, it doesn't have to be a bad thing as long as – because defenses don't know what you're doing either.
02:16You don't develop tendencies, you know.
02:18So you can do it with Doug Peterson.
02:21You can do it with – what's his name from last year for the Eagles?
02:27Nick Sirianni?
02:28No, the Saints head coach.
02:29Oh, Kellen Moore.
02:30Thank you, Kellen Moore.
02:31It's a very easy name to remember.
02:33But it's 4 a.m. local, everybody.
02:35Yeah.
02:35Yeah.
02:35It's all good, man.
02:37It's all good.
02:39Yeah, so that'll be – to me, the biggest thing for the week is –
02:45I sense, as we hear more and more opinions on this game, that people are viewing this as a potential Seahawk walkover.
02:56Yeah.
02:56Just based on how the Patriots played offensively in their three playoff games so far.
03:01There's smoke around Drake May that he might be banged up a little bit.
03:04Well, yeah, he's on the injury report with his shoulder.
03:06Yeah.
03:07Yeah.
03:07So everybody from the Patriots is saying, no, it's no big deal.
03:09Of course not.
03:10Right, right.
03:11And the Seahawks defense is like, oh, all right, well, let's check it out and see.
03:15You know, we might not believe you that it's not a big deal.
03:18So we're going to hit him in the shoulder a few times.
03:19When Drake May got injured in the game, at least what it looked like when he got tackled on that one scramble.
03:24Yep.
03:25Vrabel was asked about it afterwards immediately.
03:28He's like, no, no, no.
03:28There's no – I don't know what you're talking about.
03:30That's what he's supposed to say.
03:31Yeah.
03:31If you go back to that moment, by the way, where it looks like he hurt his shoulder, I don't – this has bothered me since I was in high school.
03:38I had, like, if we ever want to be stopped being known as the dumbest of all athletes, don't – especially when it's your quarterback and it looks like he might have hurt his throwing arm, don't reach down and grab his throwing arm to lift him up.
03:53Yeah.
03:53It's the same as –
03:54I never thought of that.
03:55Guys have gotten smarter about the concussions and everything.
03:57But every now and then, like, a guy will be laying motionless.
04:00It might be a spinal or something.
04:01Yeah.
04:02And everybody's like, come on, get up, get up.
04:05Let's jostle that.
04:06Let's jostle that broken vertebrae around a little bit.
04:09Shake it out.
04:10Yeah.
04:10I never thought of that.
04:11I only think of the headbutts.
04:13Like, if people are headbutting each other.
04:14Oh, we used to.
04:15Yeah.
04:15Oh, we used to.
04:16Well, I used to never feel like I could get into a game until I'd gotten smacked in the head real good.
04:20Mm-hmm.
04:20And so I would do that before every first defensive snap.
04:25I would grab one of my defensive linemates and just bash his head.
04:29And Rinaldo Wynn didn't like it at all.
04:31He was up for it because he felt like it was his duty as my teammate.
04:34But every now and then I'd text Rinaldo.
04:37I'd be like, you know, doing all right, buddy?
04:39How are you doing?
04:39I did probably give you a minor concussion.
04:42How is he doing?
04:43He's doing great.
04:44That's good.
04:44He works for Joe Gibbs on the racing side of things.
04:48Really?
04:48Yeah.
04:49Okay.
04:49Probably connected with him from his Redskins days.
04:52Yes, yeah.
04:53So former Notre Dame defensive tackle from the south side of Chicago.
04:59He's a teammate of my brother.
04:59Who's now working in NASCAR.
05:01Yeah, that's awesome.
05:02Yeah, yeah.
05:02That's really cool.
05:04Rinaldo is one of those.
05:04There's a lot of people that joke around about NFL players being stupid.
05:08But we're staying in a hotel where a lot of the pro bowlers are.
05:12I don't know if it's just the AFC or if it's the NFC as well.
05:14No, no, no.
05:14Well, Micah Parsons is there.
05:16Yeah.
05:16I think it's everybody.
05:18But you go into the fitness center at any given time of day and it's, yeah, there's dudes in there working out.
05:24Micah Parsons was in there rehabbing his torn ACL yesterday in the gym in our building.
05:30Who is most likely to end up getting kicked out of the hotel because they're pestering the pro bowl players?
05:36Oh, of the 610 people?
05:37Yeah.
05:37Like some of these people are like, hey, hey, can I do a 17-minute interview while you're eating dinner with your family?
05:43Well, maybe it's me so far because I'm the only one.
05:46I got a selfie with Will Anderson last night.
05:48Oh, yeah.
05:48But you guys know each other.
05:50We know each other a little bit because he's on the postgame show like three times a year.
05:54He's held the championship three times already.
05:57He knows you really well.
05:58He's the only multi-belt holder, yeah.
06:00That's where I think your bald head is, it helps in recognizability.
06:04Yeah, maybe.
06:05I mean, yeah, he recognized me right away, so it was cool.
06:08So, yeah, snapped a little picture with Will.
06:09He was there with his parents.
06:10They're in town for the pro bowl.
06:12Yeah.
06:12Yeah, so all the pro bowlers, the Kamari Lassiter and, hey, stop me if you've heard this before,
06:16Kamari Lassiter and Kalen Bullock were hanging out together in the lobby yesterday.
06:20That's who I, actually, and I didn't go up and talk.
06:22They've both been on the postgame show, too.
06:24I didn't go up and talk to them because they were, you know, they were talking to other people.
06:26But that's a good question.
06:28Who is most likely to be, to get pulled away for pestering pro bowlers?
06:34If I're old, and I'm going to tell Armin this if I see him this week.
06:36Armin Williams, our old program director, definitely would have been.
06:40Yeah.
06:42Hotel management would have had to come talk to him.
06:44We've been getting complaints that you've been trying to set up meetings with these guys.
06:48Yeah, that's a really good question.
06:51And Armin would agree with me on that one.
06:53Yeah.
06:53So yesterday, I was having actually kind of feelings of just nostalgia just in seeing some
07:00of these guys there with their families and with their wives.
07:03Like, they just look so young.
07:05Yeah.
07:05I think, I don't want to say which offensive lineman I think it was who was in the little
07:09hotel market with me yesterday.
07:11Mm-hmm.
07:11Because I think he was also with his wife.
07:14But I don't want to get the name wrong if it turns out that there was.
07:16So there's an offensive lineman in the market.
07:17Yeah, yeah.
07:17So there's an offensive lineman, young guy.
07:19It might have been Linderbaum.
07:20I'm not sure.
07:21And his wife, who's like, I'm looking at these guys.
07:23And I'm like, these kids look like college kids to me.
07:24Yeah.
07:25And so I'm trying to order a chicken Caesar salad.
07:28It's because they got it sitting in the display case, you know.
07:31So he says, okay, yep.
07:31And you just actually grab it right out of the case.
07:34So in the middle of this offensive lineman and his wife are standing behind me, I go over
07:38to the display case.
07:39And I'm like, it's sealed from the front.
07:42And I'm like, tapping on it and trying to lift the glass and everything.
07:46And I was just about to ask the guy.
07:48And this offensive lineman's wife was like, oh, it's actually, it's right over next to it
07:52in that, you see that big wide open display case where you can grab it and everything.
07:56I was like, oh, thank you so much.
07:57She was very helpful.
07:58She's like, and she looked at her husband.
08:00She's like, he's an idiot too.
08:01Yeah.
08:03CTE.
08:05Yeah.
08:06I was like, here's a flash into your future.
08:08Yeah, yeah.
08:08This is what it's going to look like.
08:10That'd be funny if it was Linderbaum because that's somebody who I wouldn't mind for the Texans.
08:14Yes.
08:14I mean, this is a prime opportunity for us to tamper on behalf of the Texans at this Pro Bowl thing.
08:19We really could.
08:20I texted.
08:20That's a lie too.
08:21Let's go full college.
08:23Let's just go tell them about how it's a Shangri-La.
08:27I actually, I texted Nick Casario yesterday and I said, hey, the Pro Bowlers are all at our hotel.
08:33I said, don't worry, I'll keep eyes on the Texans, guys.
08:36I didn't use the word tamper, but I said, if you need me to do like a swarm, you know,
08:42swarm detection on some of the guys that are on other teams, it could be free agents.
08:46And he said, just have Kamari tackle them in the lobby and see how they react.
08:50Yeah, I thought that was pretty funny.
08:53That, uh, it's, yeah, we should go down.
08:56I'll try to, because I'll probably be, I'm going to be in the fitness center at like 2.30 a.m.
09:01And that'll be, that'll, is that when you're getting your workouts in?
09:04Some of the guys from the East Coast that might be trying to stay on their normal time or anything might be able to, yeah.
09:09Tomorrow, tomorrow is the Pro Bowl games.
09:12Yeah.
09:12So that, so they're all, well, they got it.
09:14All roads lead to wherever the Pro Bowl games are being held.
09:16Yeah, they shouldn't be working out, they're tapering at this point.
09:18Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
09:19They got, yeah.
09:20Today's like a Saturday.
09:21Yeah, they might just be getting to do a really light workout or something before they go and try to dominate at the Pro Bowl games.
09:27Shudor was hanging out in the lobby last night.
09:29Oh, was he?
09:29Yep, yep.
09:30I think this is the one thing I noticed.
09:32I'm like, wow, I don't really, I'm not really able to recognize a lot of the Pro Bowlers by their faces.
09:38Yeah, that's what I was, I was thinking.
09:39I'm like, there's a lot of big dudes in here who are clearly NFL players, and I don't know if it's a function of the big stars aren't, either aren't here or are playing in the game.
09:47Well, no, I mean, that's how football is, though, because of the helmets.
09:49A lot of the linemen, especially, you know, you don't know.
09:51I was really disappointed in myself.
09:52But you couldn't immediately identify.
09:54Yeah, about how few I was able to recognize.
09:56Other than all the Texans, obviously, I could.
09:58Well, with these big, pasty, white offensive linemen, too, I'm just, they all look alike to me.
10:03And I'm just looking at them like they all look like some farm kid out of Iowa, and I have zero clue.
10:08You wouldn't see them.
10:09So I went back to my hotel, and I'm like, I'm just, I can't, I can't, I'm looking at the pictures just to see if it was Linderbaum or not, and I couldn't tell you.
10:18I can't tell you either.
10:19So, yeah, but spot it all.
10:21But the only one, the only one, there's six Texans here, at least according to the roster.
10:26The only one we haven't seen yet is Derek Stingley Jr., who may very well just go to his room.
10:31He's probably in his room studying tape or something, yeah.
10:33Yeah, yeah.
10:34Meditating.
10:35Yes.
10:36Yeah.
10:36I feel bad for Stingley in situations like this, because he just, you know.
10:40Well, the lobby.
10:40You have to go to all these social functions and everything.
10:43He probably hates it.
10:44No, dude, the lobby was crazy last night in our building.
10:46I mean, it was a party down there, and it was all a bunch of the players, and I'm like, yeah, this doesn't seem like Stingley's deal.
10:54I was out at 7 p.m., I think.
10:56You were?
10:56I was planning on getting to bed early, and it was just one of those things where I laid down to watch something and then woke up, and it was five episodes deep.
11:04I went to bed at 10, because that's not a geographical thing for me.
11:09I can't fall asleep until my phone says it's 10 o'clock on it.
11:12Well, that's good for when you're traveling, but you've got to get up at 3 a.m.
11:15Yeah, it's not good for this trip.
11:16Yeah.
11:17I don't know if you're going to get the best version of me, but it's going to be a whole lot of fun.
11:20We're here all week long on Radio Row.
11:21Again, big thanks to LaCour 43 for bringing us out here.
