00:00So my name is Beatrice Dixon. I am a co-founder and CEO of the Honey Pot Company. I'm also the
00:07chief innovation officer, which I often forget to say. Honey Pot got started back in 2012. I had an
00:17almost year-long bacterial vaginosis infection that would not go away. It was the worst. To
00:23make a long story short, my grandmother came to me in a dream because my grandmother transitioned
00:29when my mother was young and essentially told me what to do to fix my problem, and it worked.
00:35If the formula that my grandmother gave me could work for me, then it could very likely
00:40work for other humans with vaginas that were dealing with the same thing that I was dealing
00:44with. I was at a traffic light, and there was a concert poster on the light pole, and the
00:51name of the band was the Honey Pot Band. And I was like, wow, that's it. That's what we're
00:58going to call it. The Honey Pot. Between 2012 and 2014, we ran our own version of a clinical
01:07trial because we didn't want to start selling it because we had to make sure that it worked.
01:13And so we did that for two years. And then when we finally had enough people to try the
01:19product, tell us that it worked and how beautiful it was, that's when we decided to launch it.
01:24We launched it here in Atlanta. The Bronner Brothers Hair Show was coming to Atlanta. And, you know,
01:30this was like February of 2014. And we got the opportunity to go. Literally, we went to the show,
01:37took 600 bottles, and we sold 600 bottles in like three days. And that's how we knew that it was like,
01:46okay, this is for real. You know, we make a lot of products. You know, we do washes, we do wipes.
01:52We have herbal menstrual pads. We have tampons. We, you know, make like 80, 85 products,
01:58all centered around the vulva and the vagina. Our goal is to have really excellent relationships
02:04with our customers. Our goal is really to have excellent relationships with our partners.
02:09Our goal is to have excellent relationships within our company, right? Excellence. I am honored
02:15to be a black woman, to have these opportunities. I feel honored to be able to help to change how humans
02:24think about their vagina. I mean, what we have done for the vulva and vagina is magnificent.
02:31And it will never be forgotten. I remember Anthony, who used to work with us.
02:37I remember him saying to me, yo, we got an email in our support email from somebody at Target,
02:46you know? Fortunately for us, I had a background in not only retail and being a buyer at the retail
02:54level, but I also had a background in selling to buyers. I knew how to talk to her. I knew how to put
03:01together a little presentation. We did it. You know, she told me on the phone, what I'm going to ask
03:07you to do is almost impossible for you to do. You know, I told her, I love impossible. I live for
03:15impossible. Let's do impossible. Me and Cy had to raise money. I mean, we were literally raising money
03:22to pay manufacturers. Can you imagine that kind of pressure? It was ridiculous, but we did it.
03:29You know, Target is like, I'm not going to cry because I got this makeup on, but like,
03:36for real, you know? My devotion to them is crazy, because without them, you know? Yeah.
03:49I'm so grateful to be born on this planet with this skin and this experience and this rich
03:59richness and this beauty and sometimes this pain, you know? I'm grateful.
