INSANE BASE JUMP ACCIDENT CAUGHT ON CAMERA
WITH VID
By Santiago Hidalgo
Check out this incredible footage that shows a close up footage of a serious BASE jumping accident.
Chad Smith, from Folkestone, UK, was doing low freefalls when he recorded the video of the jump not knowing the tragic ending that was about to occur.
After crashing to the ground in Dover, UK, Chad broke the thoracic spinal cord segments T6–T10 and his acetabular in the hip.
He'd completed 233 successful jumps before this and has since been able to complete many more jumps after the incident. Despite the 4 month hard recovery.
He said: "I have nerve damage in my back which I can still feel to this day.
"I think the real lesson is one of overconfidence and ego. Always jump well below your means, and if you are trying something new or different, speak with people far more experienced than yourself and find ways to break it down into smaller and safer progressions."
