00:00St George's Hall is hosting a free public exhibition celebrating the life and legacy of Mary Seacole,
00:06the pioneering nurse, healer and humanitarian whose courage and compassion changed the course
00:12of medical history. Open until the 28th of February, the exhibition invites visitors to
00:19explore a series of maquettes created during the development of a permanent marble statue
00:24of Mary Seacole, set to become the first statue of a black woman ever installed in the building.
00:31The campaign aims to install the permanent statue in the Great Hall, where it will stand
00:37alongside the statue of Catherine Kitty Wilkinson, the first monument erected of a historic woman in the hall.
