DaCosta takes the lead as Angela Vaughn in the new FOX series, "Our Kind of People." The actress discusses the central role of hair to her character, Angela, a haircare entrepreneur with ties to Martha’s Vineyard’s Black elite that may run deeper than she realizes.

00:00You know, it's really actually exciting to be able to show all of these different looks being done while still maintaining the health of my hair.
00:13And so my crown, you know, I'm lending my real crown to Angela Vaughn so that she can use it as a billboard, essentially.
00:22So when she's walking around with gloves, people are like, oh, that's different.
00:26Oh, I've never seen that. Oh, that's nice. Where can I get that?
00:29And then, oh, actually, come over. I did it. Come to my salon.
00:32So that's her. That's one of the ways that she strengthens her hustle by always having her hair be on point, always changing it, always surprising people.
00:42And yeah, I mean, on most shows, you just keep the same thing all the time.
00:48But I like the freedom of not being tied down.
00:53I like the freedom of not being trait.
