00:15is all about self-care and how to make sure your smile is on point i wanted to start off with a
00:22special shout out to crest for bringing us this segment because we all know you can't even say
00:27the word crest without smiling so joining me today are a few of your favorite from foxholes the mix
00:33please welcome danique pullins romeo miller anton peebles and jamie dubos yeah
00:43hey guys all right hey everybody so you know what let's just get right into it and let's get started
00:53so first i'd like everybody to tell us what is your most important self-care ritual and you know
00:59as i need i'm just gonna start with you and then we'll just go around okay so for me i would say
01:06just being a new mom my most important self-care ritual would be just taking time for myself
01:14doing anything it doesn't really matter i mean when you're a new mom you are giving your time a lot to
01:20your baby and trying to fit in the other little things so for me i like to just take a little
01:25time myself whether it's taking a long shower whether it's deep washing my face or um deep
01:31conditioning my hair that would be my most important ritual self-care ritual that's why you'd be smelling
01:37so good huh okay you're on my let these people know i smell good for me i know anton i know you're
01:46gonna say this but meditation but also i'm going to the gym more and i found you know so therapeutic
01:53like lifting weights you just get all that negative energy out so i have to say for me the gym
01:59yeah good for me i go with uh it's my spirit taking care of my spirit a lot of us we take care
02:07of our outer body but if your spirit isn't in shape um you you can't really do anything so prayer is a
02:13big key for me um i think i pray literally maybe at least three times a day that's my secret i always
02:21pray when i wake up i pray when i go to sleep and then when i get in the car if i'm traveling in a
02:26plane i'm always praying so prayer is just the thing that um it gives me my peace and i feel um
02:32that's what gives me just that extra boost other than working out you know working out physically
02:39helps too and then also physically i'll be on that pretty melanin skincare routine that's how okay
02:46we see that clear skin right
02:48i'm gonna uh i'm gonna piggyback off of romeo and off of jamie i think it's all about the spirit
02:56uh for me self-care starts there and so meditation is what i start my day off with at least 15 minutes
03:02of meditating um and i just close my eyes i breathe in and then throughout my meditation i start praying
03:08like romeo said because prayer is the most powerful tool that any of us have you know for self-care
03:14and then after i pray i just start you know saying beautiful affirmations just giving god the glory
03:20and just saying thank you thank you for all the blessings i have so i can you know open up the
03:24universe to start receiving more of those blessings period what about you jess we get to ask you
03:29i hope to agree with all of you like you you guys is mine all in one so i have the prayer
03:36then i have going to the gym and then i have the deep showers
03:39but i do want to switch gears to talk about these gorgeous smiles for just a minute
03:47so the newest addition to the crest family are the crest whitening emulsions which are everything
03:53so romeo i want to ask you what are some ways that a person's smile can impact their self-confidence
04:00for either the better or the worst man um they say that a smile is free medicine
04:08and this is true i mean when you see somebody smile that energy is contagious
04:13and that's why it's so important to take care take care of them teeth ladies and gents you know
04:18go get that crest and make sure you got that perfect white smile because at the end of the day
04:23um it could change somebody's day i remember um i was having a really rough week last week
04:30and i was literally just getting my food and this older woman came up to me she just had this smile
04:35and glow about her and it made me feel better i'm like dang i'm in i'm not having a great day
04:40but this woman's energy is rubbing off on me and it's showing that life is so precious and something
04:46as simple as a smile could truly make the biggest difference
04:50i think you went to the right person for that one
04:53look at that smile too give it to me one more time romeo
04:59that's the middle smile baby that middle smile
05:04so jamie i want to come to you next because as we all know an important part of maintaining our
05:12well-being is making sure that our mental health is taken care of which we often talk about on the
05:17mix so i wanted to ask you jamie what are some signs that tell you when it's just time to maybe
05:22take a break and recharge for me when i lose my passion for stuff that i'm normally interested in
05:30is a huge tell that i need to take a step back or my social meter if it runs too low
05:37and i'm a little bit overwhelmed in social settings that's another instance i'm like you know what maybe
05:44i'm doing a little bit too much and i need to take a break or just i feel like we all lose motivation
05:49sometimes we feel like we're on overdrive and we're like i'm burnt out i need a break and so i think it's
05:55important to listen to your body more than like you know any outside influence because your body
06:01knows what it needs and your mind knows what it needs and no one can tell you that
06:05okay
06:07you know i was experiencing something the past couple of days where i had the wrong group of people around
06:19me and i tell you it totally affected my whole outlook on life i just wanted to sit down and give
06:25up so anton i want to ask you in what way do you think the circle of people you surround yourself with
06:31plays an important part on your mental spiritual and physical growth as a person and i need this
06:36advice like big time because i'm going through it right now we all need people that the people that
06:41have around you um they shape not only who you are but who you're going to be if you're constantly
06:48hanging around someone who has negative energy or you know someone who doesn't have any goals that
06:54cloud that little dark cloud that's around them is naturally going to pass over to you so you have
07:00to make sure that the people around you are all set up for that and that they're not i won't say better
07:05than you but they want to strive to be better you know i went through a situation when in my early 20s
07:13um i was hanging out with people who like to party all the time and you know 19 bro you talking early
07:2020s you just turned 19 bro i did i did you know with the crest the crest just makes you feel like you're
07:28aging back okay but uh but yeah i was hanging around people who you know weren't focused and so naturally
07:38that's what i started to also be i wasn't focused and it plays with your your mental health you know
07:44and so i think it's so important to be around people who you would you achieve to be like you
07:50know i i love that answer and i definitely needed that so i appreciate you but lastly what's one word
07:56of advice that each of you would give to other young people out there who don't quite know what the
08:01first step should be to learn how to prioritize those their self-care and um is that neat i'll just
08:09kick it off with you i would say i always say just take everything step by step i mean day by day i feel
08:18like you know we always get caught up in trying to be the best person or you know i feel like sometimes
08:26we get especially with social media and how people i feel like are like pressured to do more i feel
08:32like we all get caught up in wanting to like work work and maybe overwork ourselves sometimes i feel
08:38like it's just sometimes we need to step back and you know i think quarantine definitely was um an eye
08:46opener for us all and that was like a start to where it was like we were forced to step back and it was
08:51like you know we all kind of looked at it as a negative thing but it was really a positive in a
08:56way and so i would just say definitely just step back sometimes and just take a breather and really
09:01really listen to your body like jamie was saying and realize what it is that you need personally
09:07come on to agree zonique with you because you know during that quarantine time period
09:15i really had time to explore my spirituality because you know anton you made a great point in your 20s
09:20you were partying a lot and i was going through that really bad before quarantine happened so that just
09:25gave me a time period where i could sit really get to know who i was look for a deeper meaning
09:30in my life because i had kind of lost that and at the same time i feel it's important to express
09:36yourself express yourself positively healthfully not not on social media you know talk to someone
09:42you can confide in if you have to get therapy it's not taboo i used to think growing up black people
09:47don't go to therapy i don't want that my mama said i don't cry so i don't cry no now that i'm 24 i realize
09:53you need therapy you know you need that healing so that would definitely be my answer for any you
09:57know young people out there that are going through a tough time and needed to know how to you know um
10:03prioritize their self-care but um jamie what would you say i one thing that stuck out to me when i was
10:10going through it um actually i did end up going to therapy and what they told me was pain is temporary
10:15you're not going to be in this state of mind forever and so i think it's important to understand like
10:21there is light at the end of the tunnel and i think once you see that you get hope for yourself
10:26and i think that in itself motivates you to get up in the morning to do the extra step that you
10:32think you couldn't do today because like sony said it's all about you and your body this isn't about
10:38social media this isn't about outside influences what can you do today to help your body and i think
10:43just asking that question every morning would change your life what about you romeo i gotta go to ton
10:52first you know romeo wanna sum it up yeah to put the ball on top he want to make that gumbo yeah
11:02okay um for me i would say just getting out your thoughts and talking to someone who you trust
11:11who can give you amazing advice i know for black men especially we're kind of taught growing up not
11:19to be emotional not to be vulnerable you know not to really share how we're going what we're going
11:25through emotionally and for me the best thing that helped me was getting out my thoughts speaking to
11:31someone whether it be your mom a best friend a therapist whomever you know being able to actually
11:37speak to someone and share how you feel is the best advice that i was given and i could give to someone
11:44else this is why i love going to work with y'all every week while i'm actually at work like this is why
11:52the mix on fox soul is such a dope show um everybody out there i got to make sure y'all tune
11:58in to us on our youtube channel but this is the gems we be dropping in time you uh brought something
12:04up where i was talking to the producers about a little bit earlier and it was this uh story i was
12:10telling about selena gomez we was having this conversation she was like you know what rome people
12:15think it's so much easier to be positive or to do the right thing and people don't realize that it's
12:21actually a lot easier to do the wrong thing so y'all hit the point where having the right
12:25people around you plays a big part in your life like if you show me who your friends are
12:32then i'll know where i'll know exactly who you are together we are powerful and man you guys are
12:38confirmation of that man i love just doing what i do with you guys and you guys inspire me as well
12:43so shout out to the host of the myths man keep doing your thing i'm a fan
12:49no i'm a fan of y'all like all right i actually learn from y'all every day that i talk every day
12:55that i get to talk to y'all you know that that was a great conversation and you guys's insight is
13:01always great and it always gets my day going on the right path but you know i do want to thank you
