00:08You know, it's something that we're concerned by, but we want to make sure that we actually regulate smartly and
00:13we're thoughtful about the risk here.
00:16So there are obviously risks to AI, there are some benefits to AI.
00:20I have to say just personally, I feel a little bit weird about the fact that you have so many
00:27frontier AI tech companies kind of coming to the government and begging the government to regulate them.
00:33It feels a little bit to me like a bit of a Trojan horse.
00:35So I think we just have to be careful about this.
00:38The other thing the president said pretty consistently is we know that the Chinese are engaged in this long term
00:43AI race against the United States.
00:45We want to make sure the United States, we do things smartly, but we stay ahead of the curve.
00:50So you don't think Americans should be scared about the way AI is trending right now?
00:54Well, look, any technology has risks.
00:56Any new technology is going to bring both risks and benefits.
00:59I think what the president has said is we want to be smart about making sure we stay on top
01:04of the risks.
01:04I don't think Americans should be scared of anything.
01:08I think that we have to be mindful that there are risks, there are downsides to anything, and that's certainly
01:13true of AI.
01:14On AI regulation, do you think Congress should take the lead,
01:17or do you want to see administrative, executive authority work?
01:20Well, obviously the best way to do it would be consensus between both Congress and the administration.
01:24We obviously have a lot of folks on both sides of the aisle with a strong opinion,
01:28but any regulatory regime you'd like ideally Congress and the White House to agree on it
01:33so that we actually are able to make it stick and so that we actually get some real consensus behind
01:38it.
