Transcript
00:00Hi, I'm Rashaun Ali and I am back again for Essence Wellness House with Well Necessities.
00:07I'm a multimedia personality, but I'm also a huge health advocate. Yes, I love to work out.
00:13I love to eat well. So I believe that I'm the right person to ask some very important questions
00:19to our amazing guest today. And I am joined by Leanne. Hi, Leanne.
00:25Hi, how are you? Doing great. Loving, loving your setup in the background. That is beautiful.
00:33Thank you. This is my at home yoga studio. I love it. I love it. I can feel the peace coming
00:39through the computer screen. So that is beautiful. Leanne, tell us a little bit more about yourself.
00:44I know that you have a yoga studio in your home. Tell us more. I am a model, actress and new yoga
00:52instructor. I teach my Zoom classes here. But yeah, I'm about making people feel good in their bodies.
01:03Where are you from? I'm from Raleigh, New Jersey. Love it. Love it. That is so great. Was something,
01:10was yoga something you got into during the pandemic? Was it something that you always wanted to do,
01:14but now you're like, hey, it pushed me to move forward with it?
01:18I've been practicing yoga for like about two or three years now. And I was really into my modeling
01:26and acting career. And then the pandemic hit. And then I was like, well, what do I do at home?
01:31Right. You know, I can't go outside. So I was like, oh, I might as well go get my yoga teacher certification.
01:38And it's just been so enriching in my life. Like it really helped my 2020 just go by with ease.
01:44Good, good. That's beautiful. I'm so glad again that you're, you're sharing your life
01:49with so many people. And that's fantastic. So we're going to ask you a quick question. You do
01:54your very best to answer it. And this one may make you chuckle. Okay.
02:01Yes, I'm ready. How many calories does an orgasm burn?
02:07250. Girl, that's a strong one.
02:19An orgasm burns just two to three calories though. A person can burn around 50 calories
02:26in the activity leading up to the orgasm. And this is according to Thrillist.com.
02:33But the way you are set up or the information that you know, I don't know.
02:39I've heard this before. And I've been told 250. So I'm like, I don't know if it's like the whole
02:46shebang, but you're saying two or three calories.
02:50Two or three calories per.
02:55It's okay. It's okay. You can burn the rest of your calories in one of your great yoga classes. Okay.
03:00Okay. Well, for participating today, and because you made everybody laugh,
03:07we're going to send you this amazing, beautiful Essence Wellness House pouch. Okay.
03:12Thank you so much. Thank you for having me.
03:16Absolutely. Take good care, Leanne.
03:19Me too.
03:20Welcome to Well Necessities. We have a great trivia question just for you, but we want to know a
03:24little bit more about you, Cheryl. We see in your background, it says life is beautiful. So tell us a
03:30little bit about this beautiful life.
03:33All right. Well, I am, hold on now. Here's the thing. I'm a certified life purpose coach,
03:38a certified mental health professional, pastoral counselor, and author.
03:43Come on.
03:45So I like to help people break through barriers and propel into their purpose, basically.
03:49Nice. Nice. Where are you from?
03:52Okay. So I'm from New York, but I now live in Richmond, Virginia, but I love my New York,
03:56so I'm holding on to that. I hear your accent. You're like, I'm not going to let it go.
04:00No.
04:04I love it. I love it. So we have a quick question for you.
04:08Okay.
04:08And you're very best. This is, I think this is easy.
04:11Okay.
04:13Organ of your body is worked over time if you drink too much alcohol.
04:18Oh my gosh. Uh, is it lungs?
04:27Your lungs for alcohol?
04:29Well, I'm thinking about heart disease. Okay. I'm thinking about cigarettes. I'm sorry.
04:35I would say your digestive system, your stomach.
04:37Your liver actually is. Oh, another organ. Okay.
04:42You drink too much alcohol. Your liver has to work overtime to remove it from your blood
04:46instead of working to regulate blood sugar or blood.
04:50And I know that.
04:52Yeah. Like lung smoking liver. It's all good. It's all good. We just gave the people the information
04:57that they need and it's your liver. So we have to make sure we're taking good care of ourselves
05:02to drink in moderation or not drink at all. So Cheryl, thank you so much for participating. And because
05:09you are a good time, we're going to send you this amazing wellness house wellness recipes pouch. Okay.
05:14Thank you. Awesome. Awesome.
05:17Thank you, Cheryl. Have a great day. Hey, Shakina.
05:19Hi. Hey, how are you?
05:21I'm doing fabulously well. Let's get into this art behind you. Please. Did you do that?
05:27I did. Yeah.
05:30That's beautiful.
05:30Thank you. That's what I do in my off time. My own time, I'm a psychologist.
05:36You're a psychologist. Okay. So you do that so that you can have your own self-care. So
05:41how have you find that art has been therapeutic for you?
05:44Oh, it just allows you to be creative, have an outlet. There's no right or wrong in art. It's
05:50just whatever you want it to look like. And you know, whatever purposes serves, you can modify it
05:54as you'd like. Yeah. Awesome. That looks fantastic. I love it. And where are you from?
06:00I'm from Mobile, Alabama. I said that very properly. I usually don't say it like that,
06:06but I live in Houston, Texas. Okay. You just say Mobile.
06:11I say Mobile. You know how I say Mobile.
06:14Right. Right. I love it. I love it. All right. We're going to ask you a quick question. I know that
06:19you will get this right or hopefully we can educate somebody if you do not. Okay. What is
06:26the leading cause of death among black women in America? Leading cause. I know heart disease is
06:33one of the, one of the leading causes, but I don't know if it's the leading cause.
06:37If it's the heart disease. Stay there. Stay there. It is.
06:43Heart disease is the leading cause of death for black women in America. So we have to make sure
06:49that we are taking care of ourselves, making sure we're doing things to help us live a stress-free
06:56doing what you do, like, you know, um, doing art or doing yoga or something that really takes the
07:02stress off of ourselves. Uh, can you speak to that a little bit and what women can do since you are
07:07a professional in this space, as far as helping people navigate themselves in their minds?
07:12Rashaun, don't get me to talking now about stress management because we'll be here all day,
07:16baby, and it's supposed to be a short segment. Um, but definitely important, definitely important,
07:21um, on just a, uh, immunology kind of, uh, if you want to look into it, psychoimmunology level,
07:27um, to promote healing and decrease free food and cortisol. Yeah. We need to, um, we as black women
07:33really need to kind of, um, be more in tune with our stress management as a way to promote health.
07:39Absolutely. Well, thank you so much for joining us and we're going to send you this amazing
07:44wellness house. And no, it's really, really cute. So, um, thank you so much for participating,
07:51Shakina. Thank you. Have a good day.
