00:11hollywood you know what's interesting is that in hollywood is um one of the most liberal industries
00:18in the world yet there is no question that it is a system that people of color and just
00:28minorities in general have not been able to reach the highest levels and that is because it is it's
00:34a club and it's a closed-door club in many aspects so for me just the fact that i am one of very very
00:42few black producers to have had the success that i've had i would love to attribute it to just how
00:50great i am you know and just everything that i do well but the reality is that there are other people
00:54out there that should have that shot and should have the opportunity and haven't had it yet
01:00now for me it was about being independent it was about starting off and being successful without
01:05hollywood that's how i got the attention build it and they will come type of mentality that's what
01:09worked for me there are a lot of people out there that are banging on those doors and you know they're
01:14just there shouldn't be just one you know will packer there should be you know four five six seven
01:19eight you know um but until that happens i'm going to try to keep blazing the trail try to keep working
01:25with up-and-coming filmmakers and letting them work on my sets um hiring up-and-coming actors and writers
01:30and directors and hosts important absolutely yeah
01:33and directors and directors and directors and directors and directors and directors and directors and directors
