00:00I'm joined now by a woman you love to watch and tweet about every Monday night,
00:06Ms. Tara Wallace from Love & Hip Hop New York. Welcome to the show.
00:09Aw, thank you. Thanks for having me.
00:11Thank you so much for joining us. We have lots and lots to talk about.
00:14Uh-oh. I'm just going to go ahead and go straight into it.
00:17Okay.
00:17Last episode, you announced that you were pregnant.
00:20Yes.
00:20And congratulations.
00:21Thank you. Although you can't see it with my shirt, but it's there.
00:23You look absolutely adorable.
00:24The bump is here. Thank you.
00:26How far along are you?
00:26I'm very far along. We only have a few weeks left.
00:28Really? So like technically any day now, any moment?
00:31Well, you know, I have this like little pack with God that the baby has to stay in at least 40 weeks.
00:34Okay.
00:35So we're still like, you know, not quite 40 weeks. So he has to stay in there.
00:39He? It's a boy?
00:40I wasn't supposed to say that, but he has to stay in there for 40 weeks.
00:42So it is a boy?
00:43It is a boy.
00:44Have you picked a name?
00:45I have picked a name.
00:46Are you going to share?
00:47We're not going to share. I got to.
00:48Oh, okay.
00:48Since I just like snuck the sex out, you'll have to wait for the day.
00:51I'll take that. I'll take that.
00:53So since the show launched, Love & Hip Hop New York, or since you were introduced to the show,
00:58you've been in a love triangle with Peter and Amina.
01:01On the last episode, once you announced that you were pregnant and we saw also that Amina had a pregnancy,
01:09did you know immediately, okay, I'm going to go through with this pregnancy?
01:13Were you kind of waiting to see what Amina was going to do?
01:16What was going on at that time in your life?
01:18Let me just say, like, there's nothing that goes on in Amina's life that I wait to see before I make decisions.
01:23Okay.
01:24When I did find out that she was pregnant, it was around the closer to the time that I probably found out that I was pregnant,
01:30so that was a big blow.
01:33I'm like, how am I going to deal with this?
01:34Right.
01:35So I kind of, I didn't really tell anybody.
01:38I was just trying to see what I was going to do, how I was feeling, and how I was going to cope with this,
01:44how I was going to start telling my family, how I was going to tell my children,
01:48and even how I was going to tell Peter, because it's a blow.
01:50You know what I mean?
01:51That was a big deal.
01:52It's a back and forth between the two of you.
01:55What is it about Peter?
01:56Is it that good?
01:57Let's talk about it.
01:58What is it about him?
02:00Well, the thing that we always miss out of all of this is because we're just dealing with this, like,
02:05downward effect of when everything came out.
02:08We've missed 13 years of a relationship that people just seemed to think that I was struggling,
02:13and I was just woe is me, and I was in this terrible relationship.
02:16But we actually had a lot of fun.
02:18We had many great years.
02:20One thing that I always talk about is, like, Peter and I dated for seven years.
02:23We didn't have our first argument until probably our first real argument until I got pregnant with our first son,
02:28and we had been dating seven years.
02:29At that point.
02:31And it was just a lot of fun.
02:33I think he's very charismatic.
02:35I think there are a lot of elements about him that we don't get to see.
02:37Okay.
02:38Because of this terrible name, Creep Squad, and how he's kind of...
02:43Do you feel like he's poorly portrayed?
02:45I do think that a certain aspect of who he is, who he is as a musician, who he is, you know, his personality,
02:52the fact that he's very loving and caring.
02:54I think that those things, you know, we only get a few minutes per episode,
02:58so you can't see everything.
03:00So those things just kind of get, you know, washed away.
03:03And it just looks like, okay, here he goes again doing this or he's doing that.
03:07So those things do get a little bit washed out.
03:09So knowing that he has an outside relationship, why not protect yourself?
03:17Well, at that time, you know, when I originally, this happened, was at a time where he's like,
03:24he, they were, they were, he was moving out, they were breaking up.
03:29And that's kind of where all of the, I mean, moving closer to him, because we had a couple of business ventures
03:34that we still wanted to embark upon that we didn't really get to see this season.
03:38And that was where that all came from.
03:41It wasn't just, oh, I'm moving here for you to be closer to the kids.
03:44It's you're here to help with the kids because we have this thing that we need to get done.
03:48And I, you know, if you want this to get done efficiently, then you need to, like, this would help.
03:54And so he, that was kind of his idea.
03:56Like, I'm willing to do this to make it easier if you're willing to do this so that we can get these business ventures done.
04:03And that's kind of where, where all of that came from.
04:06Oh, the whole move in the end.
04:07Yes.
04:07It wasn't just, okay, let's move here to be closer to the kids.
04:10Right.
04:10No, it was, there was something that we had been talking about for a long time.
04:14And we didn't see it this season, unfortunately, because it's that much work that has to go into it.
04:18And then once all the craziness happened, I was like, oh, no, no, can't do this.
04:21No, no, no, I tried again.
04:22So to me, from the previous season, the biggest blow is when you found out that Amina had married Peter.
04:28Right, two seasons ago.
04:30Yes, two seasons ago.
04:32Are you jealous of the fact that he married her?
04:34Absolutely not.
04:35After y'all's history?
04:36No, I wasn't jealous of the fact that he married her because everybody keeps under this misconception that my life begins or the be and end all is me being married.
04:45That was never, that's never who I've been anyway.
04:48But it seems like a huge slap in the face, though.
04:50It does, but, you know, there's so many elements of that that we can't really talk about that I keep secret just because that's just who I am.
04:57I think the misconception is that he proposed to her one day and they got married and, you know.
05:02It's a fairytale or something like that.
05:03Right.
05:03I mean, Peter and I, the very first year of his marriage, we still live together.
05:07Wow.
05:07In the same house.
05:08Mm-hmm.
05:08Up until I moved, I left his things there.
05:13Until you moved forward.
05:14I moved on.
05:15Now, if you were to divorce Amina, and I'm not sure if that has or has not happened, and he wanted to marry you and propose to you, what would you say?
05:23I would say you need to do a lot of work on yourself right now.
05:25So you're not totally closed off to it?
05:27No, I would, no, it's not that I'm, I'm not totally closed off to it.
05:30I think that this is still a part of my journey of moving on.
05:33Mm-hmm.
05:34Did I have a moment of where I still love this man and I feel like I don't owe anybody anything after, you can't, you know, cheat at a game and then get angry when someone decides to cheat the same way you have.
05:45We're playing a game.
05:46That's a fairytale analogy.
05:47So you can't say, okay, well, now I'm here and I know I went about this wrong, but now everything has to be right so that I'm protected.
05:53No, if you, if these are, if this is the hint that you've been dealt, then you have to be prepared for someone else to play the same game.
06:00And it's not, and I, and that game is a poor choice of words because it's not a game, it is our real life.
06:06But because of the way, yes, but the way, but because of the way everything happened, then I have the freedom to say, you know what, I still love him and today, this is the day that I'm going to show him.
06:19Do you get along with the other mothers of the show?
06:21I get along with pretty much all of them except for one, you know, there was like some, obviously like tension there.
06:28And I've talked about this before.
06:29It was on, you know, but in terms of like the children, like my children can see all of, you know, they're around all of their siblings.
06:38I'm not like, oh no, my child can't go and be with those children.
06:42It's like, whatever, if you're picking up the kids and they're going to be with their siblings, whatever.
06:46So what's next for you?
06:48How are you going to continue to move forward and are you going to go back to Peter?
06:52Like what is y'all status now?
06:54Peter and I are co-parenting.
06:56Co-parenting.
06:56Okay.
06:57Yes.
06:57And I have to laugh at that because that's like always like the phrase, but that's really what it is.
07:02We are still co-parenting.
07:03And what's next for you?
07:04And what's next for me is, and all of this craziness and this journey has been me developing a relationship with my inner self.
07:12And out of that came a book, The Goddess Potential, which will be available in the next four weeks.
07:18Okay.
07:19And it's just, so that's what's next for me, completing those projects.
07:26Obviously.
07:27A newborn.
07:29Because, you know, like I'm really nervous about having number three.
07:31That's a lot of multitasking.
07:33That's a lot of transition.
07:34That's a lot of making sure that people have enough time and attention.
07:37That's a lot of like making sure that I'm okay.
07:39Like am I going to have time to get my nails done?
07:40Can I just go get a coffee?
07:42Right.
07:42So it's a lot of that.
07:43And then with Peter not living in the house, I mean, he's there a lot.
07:47That's a lot of trying to manage like when I can get out and making sure, you know, the sit is there.
07:52It's just all of like balance.
07:54And that's the biggest concern for me, balancing and trying to do it well.
