00:00Well, as a black woman, I know that we are more than what is portrayed on reality TV.
00:07I understand that black women are a mosaic, and we need to be represented at all times,
00:14and we need to show that we are not only multifaceted, but that we are very diverse in nature.
00:20And so I have wanted to show that black women are intelligent, black women are innovative,
00:27and black women do most things better than anybody else.
00:33Not because we've always wanted to, but because as black women, we have had to.
00:39Okay?
00:42Speak now.
00:43So, you know, it has been very important to me to make sure that my portrayal on TV has shown that, you know,
00:52you can survive, you can be resilient, you can go through a lot,
00:56and maintain your dignity, and do it with some sense of class.
01:01Television is a tough business, and the purpose of television is obviously to entertain,
01:07and sometimes it's at the expense of the people who are doing the entertaining.
01:11And so it's a very hard platform to, you know, to obviously maintain certain things on,
01:21because it is a platform where they have the power to edit and make things appear as though they're one thing,
01:27but it's really something totally different.
01:29But, you know, you can't live with regrets because what I do know is the size of your problem
01:37is sometimes indicative of the magnitude of your destiny.
01:40And so it's well with me, because I know that, you know, I'm bigger than an hour show.
01:49I'm bigger than 12 minutes that you see me on the screen.
01:53I'm bigger than one day that you have watched me, because I've been living over 40 years.
01:58So catch that.
