00:00What's up? It's Angela Yee and today on Woman to Woman, we are embarking on the path to power
00:08brought to you by State Farm. I've always had a really strong entrepreneurial spirit,
00:14as you can see from all the things I've been doing. I've invested in real estate. I've
00:18also opened a juice bar, investing in my own neighborhood. I always believe it's really
00:22important to have my financial goals firmly in hand. So I'm really looking forward to
00:27sitting down with Terisha so I can share with her what I've learned along the way and she can live
00:32her most colorful life starting now. Terisha is a licensed esthetician and makeup artist and recently
00:39she left behind her cushy corporate job to start her own company, Beauty by Terisha. All right, so you
00:46had a regular nine to five full-time job. Yes. So when did you decide, okay, I've got to leave this
00:52job and venture out? I kind of got tired of working for other people. Any policies? Not
00:57in a bad way, but to do my clients the way I wanted to treat them. Right. Not to rush them,
01:03but give them that good quality instead of quantity and I feel like some businesses are
01:07about that right now. So Terisha, what were some of the challenges that you faced as you
01:12started your own business? Having to work for somebody is easy. You wouldn't think about the
01:17inventory, the products versus having your own business. That was one of my challenges I'm having.
01:22It's overwhelming. Sometimes I get a little emotional, not gonna lie. Sometimes I think as
01:27being a business owner, sometimes you're afraid to ask. I didn't go to school for business. So I
01:32need to ask people that know a little more than me so I can be able to kind of get in a grip and be
01:38able to be on a steady pace right now. So what are some things you've been doing to kind of balance out
01:43those missteps that you've had as far as staying on top of the product, not having enough things?
01:47Doing researches, looking at other businesses that have been out longer than me, talking to
01:52them and asking them questions as well. That's great. So Terisha, how do you think you would
01:57benefit from financial guidance? I really don't understand when it comes to finance and budgeting.
02:02Right. That's the part where it's really most of my challenges at right there. Not having the
02:07right guidance, you can fail. And I refuse to fail. So I am going to start asking for the help. I am
02:13going to start doing the research. So that's what I'm trying to prepare myself for now.
02:16So never hesitate to figure out ways that you can actually save money from people who
02:21have done it before. It's so important to ask people who have done what it is that you're
02:25trying to do. Terisha, are you ready to take the next steps?
02:29Yes, I'm ready to take my business to the next level.
